Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (2018)
For you before you watch
Okay, 4th review so far. This anime starts off with a 17 year old girl who falls in love with her 45 year old boss. There´s no point on giving out more information and, as you will find out if you keep reading, this didn´t seem to be the main argument of this story.
My philosophy: you can always find something in an anime that you´ve never seen before, and for me that´s enough to make it a worthy watch (which is why i´d never tell anyone not to watch an anime). However, there are some things you need to know before you watch. This anime caught me off guard, it´s not finished yet (only 10 episodes so far), but i think i´ve seen enough to make a helpfull review.
I´m new to this genre, but i decided to give this anime one shot mainly because i wanted to see the outcome of the strange situation that it presents. I must say during first episodes i felt the temptation of leaving it. The opening is awfull, it´s childish and stupid, and doesn´t fit for this anime at all. For the first few episodes i felt disappointed because i guessed there had to be a strong reason for this girl being in love with their boss, and i didn´t like the characters nor the way they were introduced.
Having said that, i´m glad i continued watching. This anime is not only about a young girl loving an old man. It´s about an interesting conception of youth and oldness beyond age itself. It´s about dreams and hopes for the future and the way they can affect us. It´s about friendship and trying to move on when we are in a tough spot. I havent finished this series yet, but i will as soon as the new episodes comes out. The last episodes were amazing, showing extremelly mature reasonings from several characters and a way to percieve the world that stunished me.
The more i watched, the more i liked the characters and it´s development. The sountrack is excelent (the opening doesnt count) and the animation is full of detail aswell. I don´t know how this is going to end, but i must say so far i´m pleased. It´s a 9/10 for me, and if you are into this kind of romance genre, i´m sure you will like it. Specially recomended if you have seen and liked the movie "Garden of Words" (and if you saw this anime but you didn´t see garden of words, waiste no more time and watch it, i consider it to be one of the best romance masterpieces ever crafted). Thanks for reading!
Violet Evergarden (2018)
For you before you watch
Okay, here goes my 3rd review. Violet Evargarden is a young girl known as "the weapon" during the war, because of her insane skills at the battlefield. After the war is over, Violet starts working as an "Auto Memories Doll" in order to understand her commander´s last words. Dolls are hired by regular people in order to express in a letter their thoughts for someone, the best as posible. The episodes are focus on Violet´s job as a Doll, the things she learn from them, and the story behind her strange behaviour. I think that´s all i should say about the plot.
My philosophy: you can always find something in an anime that you´ve never seen before, and for me that´s enough to make it a worthy watch (which is why i´d never tell anyone not to watch an anime). However, there are some things you need to know before you watch. This anime is not yet finished, but after the last episodes i think i´ve seen enough to make a worthy review.
The animation is one of the bests out there. The colours and the amount of detail in every environment is a pleasure to watch. The soundtrack fits perfectly for the series. I wouldn´t say it´s an amazing soundtrack but it does its job quite well.
The storyline is not very atractive itself, but it´s execution is flawless. The main theme in Violet is the character´s development (her development in specific), which i must say that considering this is a 13 episodes series, it felt very well acomplished along the way. Every episode brings something new and refreshing to the series and every outcome seems to have been thought in detail.
This is a 10/10 for me. So far all i can see is a very well crafted anime. There is love and a lot of dedication on it. Definatelly a must watch.
Shin Sekai Yori (2012)
For you before you watch
Okay, my 2nd review. This anime takes place in a new world where some people has kind of telekinetic powers, and it will focus on a group of childrens. The first episodes will provide information about their lives and the way they relate to eachother. That´s all i can say without spoiling.
My philosophy: you can always find something in an anime that you´ve never seen before, and for me that´s enough to make it a worthy watch (which is why i´d never tell anyone not to watch an anime). However, there are some things you need to know before you watch. This anime is very complex to analyze so i will just focus on what i considered the weakest and strongest points.
The strongest point is not the storyline but the way it was developed. We know nothing from the beggining and the more we watch, the more we learn and understand about what´s going on. That was masterfully done. There was never plot holes and everything was well timelly explained. The character decisions made perfect sense along the way; you may never experience the feeling of "why the heck did this happened?" as it happened to me with other anime. However, it felt like the story had some waisted potential. I would consider the weakest point as the absence of a climax. Even in much worse anime series you may find a moment that blows your mind away. That didn´t happen to me with Shin Sekai Yori.
The love scenes and character relationships are hard to describe and even understand. I would have liked a more conventional aproach but i´m not disappointed. Character development isn´t great but it´s good enough to make sense and escort the storyline. The soundtrack is not remarkable either (considering there is no intro), but it complishes it´s task of mixing on with what´s happening at the moment. The ending is extremelly thought provoking and well presented, and it´s the final touch to produce an almost perfectly writen story.
It´s a 7/10 for me because i didn´t quite love the way the writers decided to focus the story (even tho the execution was excellent, as i previously pointed out). Having said that, give it a try. It´s a very worth watching anime.
Akame ga Kill! (2014)
For you before you watch
Here goes my first review. I won´t make a plot considering you will understand what´s going on after the 1st episode.
First of all i want to point out that if you are planing to watch this series, i feel there are better ones out there. Having said that, you can always find something in an anime that you´ve never seen before, and for me that´s enough to make it a worthy watch (which is why i´d never tell anyone not to watch an anime). However, there are some things you need to know before you watch.
This is a shonen. Fights are the main focus of this anime and i must say some of them are very entertaining and overwhelming. During the fist 6-7 episodes i though i was in front of one of the best anime out there; i got hooked inmediately by the story and the fights.
However, this feeling disappeared while i continued watching. The episodes seemed to be repetitive. The story was too simple and there was never a twist to make things more interesting. I dont want to exaggerate but i believe character development is one of the biggest flaws of this series. Love scenes felt completelly rushed and I didn´t care about the characters because they weren´t complex at all, and sometimes i just wanted to stop watching due to idiot behaviors from part of many characters. Not to mention the ending is one of the worst i´ve ever seen.
I would say you may enjoy this anime if you are mainly interested in good fights and you don´t care too much about storyline or character development. Its a 4/10 for me, but feel free to give it a try.
