Big Boys Don't Cry (2020)
Please don't ignore this film
This is not the kind of movie you'd watch for family entertainment but it is the kind of movie that everyone needs to see. It's the harrowing story of Paul Connelly and the abuse he and others suffered at the hands of evil men in the 1970's.
The lead actor, Michael Socha, gives the performance of his career so far and the young lads that play Paul and Liam as kids are also impressive. In fact all the cast come out of this with credit.
The movie also shows us parts of Pauls life that he's probably not proud of but the overriding factor of the film is to show how such atrocities can mess with a victims mind.
Well done to all concerened with this, especially Paul who must have had a few dark nights recounting his experiences whilst working on this.
American Poltergeist (2015)
Abysmal at best
I'm a horror movie fan and have seen enough to know that sometimes you have to wade through the rubbish to get to the good ones. This effort isn't even good enough to be classed as rubbish.
I can only guess that whoever put the money up front for this was doing so as a tax dodge or something along those lines. I won't comment on the acting as there wasn't any that I spotted. The story line is beyond flimsy and the characters are about as likeable as a tropical skin disease.
Please take my word, and the word of almost every review on here, and don't do it. If you're thinking about it, don't. Even for a laugh. The only thing this movie may be any good for is psychological warfare and even then, it would be cruel to use on your fiercest enemy.
