Ted Sieger's Wildlife (1999)
Re-crowning the king!
My goal is to put this TV series at NUMBER 1 on the top 250 list, by showing friends this program, encouraging them to vote 10 out 10 for this show, and doing so every time they visit the site. The reason? I think that this series is just truly incredible, and that everyone should have the chance to see it. I was shocked and dismayed to find that not a single person had ever voted for the show, written a comment or even started a post. Hopefully then, every time people look at the top 250 list, they will see this show, and give it a chance.
This German animation is something that only comes once in a lifetime. Each episode is made up of two two minute short films. One of the really incredible things about this series is the total lack of speech, and the orchestral music. Anyone who likes orchestral music should at least give this incredible show a chance.
No one should go a lifetime without seeing something as heart warming as this. It hasn't appeared on Television in over 5 years, but I'm currently pushing the original broadcaster to show it again. Even if it's not your thing, just try to track down one episode, and put this production back where it belongs: On top!!!!
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Touching the heart, and breaking all boundaries
The film sets it's scene well enough. From the opening shot, we can see that this film is set in the time of modern cowboys, in the year 1963. After all the film's hype, you might enter the film with high expectations... too high for some people's taste, as you are expecting a slow start. Well, the film leaps right into it's story, and within a few minutes, you will be soaring the heights of Brokeback Mountain.
Ennis (Heath Ledger) is the first of the two characters that we look at closely. He is a rough cowboy, with a tough past of family death, and sibling love. We don't see much of Jack's (Jake) past until later in the film. And then the scenes that all have been waiting for appear. The ones that were banned in areas of the US, and condemned by the catholic church. Jack and Ennis get intimate, Although you may feel that the film leaps into relationship too quickly, that is a small price to pay for such a wonderful film.
Steven Spielburg stands no chance these Oscars, and that's coming from a devoted Spielburg fan.
Jackass: The Movie (2002)
Do we care if you try this at home or not?
About a year after first seeing "Jackass The Movie," one of my good mates, my cousin, my brother and I got together to with my camcorder and tried some of these stunts. Only my brother was left uninjured. My friend scraped a heap of skin of his leg, my cousin nearly broke his wrist, and I damaged my kidneys. So MTV have a good reason to tell us not to do this at home! Some of the stunts we attempted were: Riding a four foot high pram down a hill, walking dizzy and blindfolded down a set of stairs, and riding a bike down a vertical drop of rocks. And it really, seriously, hurt.
But of course, some of the things seen on "Jackass The Movie" are a thousand times worse.
Having your nipple bitten by a baby alligator, making a snowcown and then urinating on it, dressing up as old person and pulling stunts in public, jumping into the blades of a spinning fan, and a heap of other crazy stuff.
This is an excellent film which I strong recommend.
Hooves of Fire (1999)
An Instant Classic
In 1999, when Hooves Of Fire was put into production, who could've known that it would have turned out to be one of the best Christmas films ever made. From that echoing opening music, to the brilliant acting by Adral O'Hanen (Or however it's spelt), playing Robbie, "Robbie The Reindeer's" first appearance has blown away fans, not just in Britan, but all over the world.
According to the narrator, the film is set in "Coldchester," which is Norther than North, where good old Santa (Father Christmas, Saint Nicolous) lives. Robbie, son of Rudolph, ("Don't EVER... say that name.") has turned up to take a position on the sleigh. At first, there is some mistaken identity ("It's a... It's a... It's a thing!"), which is soon settled ("It must be the last of some poor, endangered animal."), then re-opened ("Cool! Let's kill it!"), and then settled once more ("Call me Robbie, 'cus, I am.") And those jokes are nothing compared to some of the films other lines.
This film will captivate audiences all over the world at any time of the year. A FULLY recommended Christmas comedy with a gift. Maybe you could sit down and watch it late on Christmas Eve, early on Christmas morning, after Christmas lunch, or late at night before bed. Whenever you watch it, be it Christmas, Christmas Eve, or April, you will love it.
Desperate Housewives (2004)
"Has Beens" Re-shine!!
The girls of Wisteria Lane have been loved by %99.9 since they first appeared on US. TV in late 2004. The Aussies felt the same love for these funny women with something each to hide in Janurary 2005 when Mary Alice Young, Lanett Scavo, Bree VanDee Camp, Susan Myer, and Edie Britt hit their screens. And who wouldn't love the things these girls get up to! The series has brought back so many old stars and put them back in the spotlight again. Teri Hatcher actually self-proclaimed herself to be a "has been," and thanked the show's creator for saving her from being washed up. The last time I saw her was playing James Bond's old lover in "Tommorow Never Dies." She has also changed her look, and become a babe that stars in New Idea, and Women's Day every week.
Some of the things the girls get up to will make you laugh, while others will make you cry. Watching Lannett Scavo fishing her boys from the Young's pool in the first episode could be one of those scenes that you kill yourself laughing at every time you watch. And don't you just feel for the poor lady! This is a must see series that will have you lovin' it every time you see it! I fully recommend this series that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time, over that one big question: Why did Mary-Alice kill herself?
