The Rat Patrol (1966)
Loves it as a kid and still enjoyable today.
Though its not quite as enjoyable now as it was as a kid, it is still a very enjoyable show to watch. If you're looking for realism this isn't it. If you're looking for a fun way to pass 30 minutes then its a great show! I cant imagine a WW2 sergeant yelling "Shake it!" to his men but it adds to the charm of the show. I imagine the budget wasn't very big since they reuse A LOT of scenes. I think the scene of 2 German half-tracks turning around is used about every 3 episodes.
Their is a lot of old style Western cowboy charm with the guys never having to reload any guns and never running out of ammo. Whenever a jeep breaks down they always have the right part to fix it. I'm glad its being shown again. It brings back memories.
Onoda (2021)
A Modern Masterpiece.
Hollywood could take some lessons on how to make a good quality movie. Absolutely no big name actors and no need for any. Im sure there could be come nit picking on accuracy, editing, etc. But for the average film goer that is looking for a high quality and enjoyable movie then this is it. I'm sure some will it is too long, but compared to the overpriced and over budgeted Hollywood 90 minute catastrophes this is worth the extra amount of time.
I enjoyed the acting, the setting and scenery. Though from what I understand it was not filmed in the Philippines. But honestly? Who cares. A movie worth the price of admission.
Night Swim (2024)
If you paid more than $1 you were rripped off.
Nothing new...Nothing original...
I think hollyweird has forgotten how to make a decent horror film. The highlight of the entire film is how mom and her son broke the world record for how long two people can hold their breath. Everything else? BORING.
I have still fill out 322 more characters so....at least the cat Cider got a credit so that's good. The acting? Obviously better than i could do but this film will not be winning positive awards. It should do well in the Razzies and im assuming the actors were paid decently.
This was a movie built up by the previews and a complete letdown in everything else.
Marlowe (2022)
Below average for a reason
To see Liam Neeson reduced to moves like this is sad. I know he is getting older, but the movies he does now are bordering on the made for tv movie type. He is reaching the really bad Bruce Willis movie stage of his career which I hate to see.
When the list of production companies involved making this movie is almost as long as the movie itself that should tell you something.
A modern film noir that just doesn't seem to work today. I think part of the problem is that it is in color and they lose the shadows of black and white films from the past.
The acting just seems like going through the motions.
Road House (2024)
3 stars is being generous.
Some movie should not be remade or at least make an effort to made a decent movie. Please stop using DE&I to show your "diversity." Besides the title and the name "Dalton". Nothing about this movie sticks to the original. It is nothing but a nonsensical and unnecessary level of violence that has little to nothing to do with the original movie. And the level of F-Bombs is so off the charts it reaches a point of annoyance.
Connor McGregor is a steroid fueled lunatic. This move shows that the ability to act is not a requirement.
On second thought im changing my review from 5 stars to 3 for the scenery...
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Starting to lose steam
Late in the fourth film bearing his name, indestructible hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves) falls down some stairs. Quite a few stairs, actually - tossed by an enemy down the 222 steps of Paris's famed Rue Foyatier on his way to the final showdown at the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, he tumbles down one flight after another like a Slinky in an immaculately tailored suit. He finally crumples on to a landing, only to get hurled once more down the rest of the stairs, at which point the absurd amount of time spent watching him roll back over the path he just climbed turns into its own deadpan, sisyphean joke.
The Christmas Train (2017)
The usual story line but well done
If you have ever watched a Hallmark Christmas movie then you have seen this movie. But this is a movie that though it has the retread story line, it is very well done. It will tug at your heart strings. It was an added pleasure to see stars like Danny Glover and Dermot Mulroney in this, as they bring there years of experience to this cute movie. So apparently i have 250 more characters to complete this review so i will just ramble on about more stuff in this movie. I dont care about the lighting, pace, action, etc in the movie. It is simply a very cute move that is worth the time to sit down and watch.
2025: Blood, White & Blue (2022)
3 stars just to be generous.
I lasted about 15 minutes on this. I understand you get what you pay for, and i assume that the people involved in this got what they paid for. The budget couldn't have been much. The acting explains why these people aren't A...B...C...or even D list actors. Acting like anything in life is a talent. These actors tried, and did the best they could i guess. But they will never be confused with real actors. And this movie will never be confused with a real movie. Go into this with very low expectations and you will not be disappointed. The "disguise" some guy was wearing at the beginning? Really?? It looked like it was done by a 5 year old.
Werewolves Within (2021)
A typical inclusion and equality film
Apparently acting ability is out the window. What is important now is equality, inclusion and diversity.
We must have a black lead. Then we need to have the incredibly cute white female co-lead. We have the obligatory gay couple. The white cast is of course cast as the greedy rich oil guy, the less than intelligent white trash couple and the reclusive country bumpkin. What was assembled was a cast of actors that lack the ability to act. The only reason to watch this is for the ultra cute ATT girl.
Corrective Measures (2022)
Movies like this are what people do...
When they nothing to do. Its sad to see Bruce Willis going through his mental illness and now these types of movies. If you're looking for a way to suffer through 90 minutes of nothing? You could do worse than this movie. That is the best thing i can say about it.
Out for a Kill (2003)
The battle of the strainght to video Kings
Steven Seagal Vs. Bruce Willis.
Another typical Seagal film. He doesn't do much. It could be 110 degrees and he would be wearing a long leather coat to hide his belly.
More of the same fight scenes. He just stands there and throws people and does a few kicks without moving much.
Deadlock (2021)
Bruce Willis has sunk to the Steven Segal level
Its a shame what has happened with him, his health, and movie roles. I don't know if its a money issue, or he just like making bad movies. But i guess its good work if you want it and or can get it. Show up...say a few lines...cash your paycheck.
Last Holiday (2006)
An enjoyable well done movie.
Yes, the story line has been done a million times. But sometimes its done well and other times not so well. Its a feel good movie, and well worth watching.
A Dangerous Man (2009)
Typical low budget Seagal movie
More of the same. Seagal is a "special ops" guy, just like he is in all his movies.
I have come to expect the usual from his movies.
Bad acting.
Bad editing.
Bad fight scenes.
Attractive women, that somehow cant do any better than an overweight, older man.
But putting all that aside. The movie does supply the usual violence which is entertaining.
I rate movies in 4 categories:
Is it worth the price of a regular move ticket?
Is it worth seeing at a dollar theater?
Is it a Redbox movie?
Is it a free streaming service movie?
This is most definitely a free streaming service movie.
The Case for Christ (2017)
Loved it. Does the book justice.
While no movie can ever do a book justice, this was still an excellent movie. Much of the book was packed into the movie as beat as could be expected. Not a lot of "hollywood liberties" were taken, as in Noah. This just might be the movie you load to your atheist friend, and let him think on it.
Humans vs Zombies (2011)
Bad doesn't even begin to describe it.
To bad 0 isn't an option. But since it isn't i gave it a 1. In a nutshell here is the movie.
Dude hangs out with Bro. Bro hangs out with Dude. Chick doesn't like dude. Dude keeps pestering chick. Dudes...bros...chicks all party and drink from red plastic cups. Chick gets bit at beach. Chick bites bro boyfriend. Chick and bro boyfriend bite another chick. Shy bro likes popular chick. Jock dude introduces shy bro to popular chick. Old dude gets bit...young dude gets bit...bros get bit...chicks get bit. Zoom in and out of google earth.
As bad as this review is, the movie is worse.
God's Not Dead (2014)
A movie that will make non-believers think
I saw this movie yesterday, and it was pretty much what I expected. A well made movie that will make people rethink there views on whether God exists or not. Just as the main character says, its all about choice. I have seen many negative reviews calling this movie propaganda, and how it makes atheists look bad. If you're going to complain about that, then you also need to complain about movies that portray completely unrealistic things. I personally don't care, nor did I get caught up in how the people are portrayed. I got the message, and what the movie was trying to do. Let people know that its all about free will, and choice. Nitpicking how Christians, and atheists are portrayed, is nothing but...well nitpicking. It also shows that people are choosing to ignore the real message in this movie. Open your eyes, and chose to see.
The Ruins (2008)
Just a step above Whos Your Caddy
Judging by the previews, i was looking forward to a good movie. So much for previews...they had all of the good parts. I was so disappointed in this movie. Bad plot, bad acting, just plain bad. There was nothing new, or original about this movie. Here is the premise... Dude and Bro are on vacation with there girls...Foreign guy shows up and invites them to go check out some ruins. Angry dude gets shot dead...bro... foreign guy and the girls climb the pyramid. Foreign guy finds his brother is dead...foreign guys gets lowered into a hole and of course the rope breaks...Bro lowers girl into hole to help foreign guy, and of course girl falls and cuts her knee...Other girl gets lowered, and well...everyone dies and not even very well or interesting. This movie isn't even worth a dollar rental
