THE TWISTS, THE DRAMA. Heartfelt, extra dramatic, wholesome and twisty. What a show. Teenage drama mixed in with some really provocative themes, important commentary, intricately bizarre story lines and some truly wonky characters. A mother-daugther story that is far beyond their own relationship which is born out of a stereotypical "free spirit" mom on the run storyline. It's chaotic in a wonderful way. Bless. waiting for a second season.

I Resign

When you've seen everything on Netflix, a you will watch any new show they throw at you. I did not have high expectations. But I was so wrong. So wonderfully and totally wrong. We watched Queen's Gambit, all seven hours of it, in a single sitting. This show is an absolute gem. Remarkable acting by Anya Taylor-Joy who will be a force to be reckoned with, her child counterpart- an absolute marvel. The series is smart, it's inspiring at times, it's sad and heartbreaking at times. Who knew watching game-plays of simulated chess can make your heart pound out of your ears? Truly, a story of determination, friendship, self discovery, struggle and triumph. I don't know about you, but my ceiling will be covered in chess pieces tonight.

Captivating

This show is interesting, clever, incredibly captivating. I am surprised at how well the show builds tension and suspense, the action scenes are not just sporadic movements of the camera but meaningful shots. The interrogation room scenes and the interrogations themselves are my personal favorite part of this show. I get so immersed into the story sometimes I forget it's not real. Kudos to the actors, every single actor on this show is just a massive talent.

What a beautiful, inspiring work. with respect for the power of nature, this film captures one of the most beautiful relationships I've seen. we have a lot to learn about this blue planet, and this film proves you never know who will teach you.

A Bio Pic for the Post Soviet Millenial

This show was one of my favorites because it dutifully explored the life of post-soviet Russian Oligarchy. It is a world which found roots in the 90's and resonates with me because I have seen this story unfold before my own eyes. The Russian cast is amazing, Nenidze (an actor from my native Georgia) captures the spirit of so many men I have seen where I grew up. It's not for everyone, but it is a refreshing and interesting take on a story many of us post Soviet kids know well.

Oxy or just moronic?

This movie was frustrating. As a person who LOVES magic and slight of hand, when I saw the trailer to this movie I was very excited. It looked like a crossover between David Blaine and Ocean's Eleven, which I was totally into. But the problem here is: the magic is more out of Harry Potter than out of Penn and Teller. It is not a clever use of techniques or age old illusions, it's CGI and totally unrealistic "tricks". This movie would have been amazing if the magic was something that the actors could actually perform, something clever, with thought and actually use of illusionism. Here, the plot is so unbelievable and unrealistic, that to me, it lost a HUGE edge and didn't realize it's potential. I know many people who loved this movie and are confused as to why I dislike it so much. I dislike it cause I have seen run of the mill magic shows that could've been integrated into this film and made it so much better. I came for the magic, I left because I don't BELIEVE in magic, like this movie wants me to.

WHAT!!??

Warning: Spoilers
I, honestly, do not know what just happened. This movie is not bad if you can buy into the premise that two people who are not psychopaths can behave in a psychopathic manner out of the blue. Then sure, very nice film. First of all, no normal human being is going to react to FINDING A BODY IN A HOUSE THEY JUST INHERITED OUT OF THE BLUE so nonchalantly. Found body in house? Chill in house and casually discuss this situation. Someone broke into house and hit your husband across the nuggin'? Chill in house and casually discuss this situation. Creepy realtor keeps loitering around? Chill in house and take no precautions. Your husband is being a weirdo and disposing of bodies? wait for detective, who doesn't know of the aforementioned body disposal, to tell you something shady is going on. You inherit a huge house and expect it not to look suspicious to the police or to anyone? I have so many questions. I genuinely don't understand the character development in this film. AND THEN, LETS ADD DIAMONDS to the mix. Don't get me started about the "twist" end. Just don't watch this movie. I am sad.
