The Power of Parker (2023)
Excellent
Six episodes of this new comedy.
It's a very entertaining show. The laughs come quickly and the two lead woman are excellent.
Season two already being filmed and season three commissioned and I'm not surprised.
Coupled with the soundtrack it's pure entertainment with some risqué jokes.
We laughed all the way through. I never received facsimiles that Parker did. What a shame.
Some of the jokes are toilet humour but that sits fine with us. Maybe we are an immature audience.
I'm surprised there were low reviews as it's easy viewing at only 30 minute episodes.
Can't wait for the new season.
Newark, Newark (2022)
Nothing. The show has nothing.
So disappointed. I love morgana. She is a funny lady and has previously been in good shows so I can only put this down to the pathetic script. Horne is just stupid and the less said about callard the better. If in an hour you get a few laughs, fair enough, but there's none.
Its only three episodes but it's three too many.
The Holiday (2021)
Shockingly bad
4 hour long episodes shown on U. K. channel 5.
Absolutely no redeeming qualities. Wooden acting and a plot that I think the cast didn't even know where it was going. Jill Halfpenny is a quality actor but working as hard as she was couldn't save this drivel. Terrible.
The Righteous Gemstones (2019)
And it started so well....
Enjoyed this on a whole but series 2 is lacking. A few episodes are just filler and pointless it worth a watch but just becomes cheap in the end. A shame.
Without a Clue (1988)
It's brilliant
This was on tv last night in the U. K. 30 odd years old it's one of my favourite films. As it was on tv I watched it again and it just never fails. It hasn't aged it's side splittingly funny and caine and Kingsley absolutely kill it. It's not to be missed!
Nebraska (2013)
What a gem.
This is a great movie. The humour is full on and so sad this is a thoughtful film. If this were a true story it wouldn't surprise me.
We loved it. It's 2 hours and you don't want to miss any of it. Perfectly cast and perfectly acted.
Brilliant!
Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
It's not remotely funny
Quite bizarre in order to be funny and it simply doesn't work. It's complete rubbish.
Chance in a Million (1984)
Brilliant
Brilliant and currently being shown in forces tv on the sky Freeview platform in the uk.
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
A complete cop out of an ending
I really enjoyed this up until a certain point and then it turned to nonsense. Great acting from the female actors but the lead man was terrible. In the final episode he seemed to have given up. Perhaps it was because the script had gone down hill so quickly. Such a shame as it was so promising and intriguing. When it ended I did feel cheated as it was just a cop out. It deserved to be so much better than it was.
Mother! (2017)
Oh dear.
What were they thinking? This is just writers and directors trying too hard to be arty and deep.
What emerges is self indulgent rubbish for the sake of it. It is without doubt one of the worst films I have ever seen. Two hours of made up as it goes along clap trap. The biggest pile of doggy doo ever. It's pathetic.
Ready or Not (2019)
It's a good watch
I enjoyed this film. Ok a crazy plot but the characters are excellent. All are very different and amusing. The plot keeps you watching and entertained and there are several scenes when you think "oh my god" it's great fun film.
Fatal Affair (2020)
Abysmal
This is absolutely abysmal. A terrible unbelievable story That is acted so badly especially the lead female and the villain David. The husbands acting isn't bad but all the rest are very amateurish. It's cliched to the max to try and make it interesting but the same old story redone so badly when it was done 100 times in the 90's. I assume the rental of the beach house cost more than the actors wage bill. Nothing redeeming whatsoever.
Dracula (2020)
So let down
Slogged through a very slow episode one. Episode two was so much better that I was expecting a grand finale. Episode three was the worst! Hours and hours of very slow and boring viewing.Expected so much more.
A Place to Hide (1976)
Where can I see it again?
I lived this as a kid. Scared the hell out of me. I've looked everywhere to try and see it again. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Sliced (2019)
Not funny
How do things like this get commissioned? And...Why phil? Why?
The Prodigy (2019)
Enjoyable
This is decent movie . The boy is exceptional and gives a very scary performance at times. I do think it's hard to make a decent horror now and obviously you think of Damian. It's not that good but the suspense is good with plenty of jumpy bits. It's well worth a watch.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
Terrible
Poorly acted and boring. I'm so surprised that Eastwood let this happen. It could have been a 12 minute film in truth. I almost gave up half an hour in but it really didn't do anything. The worst thing ever associated with the Eastwood name and that includes the monkey rubbish.
Secondhand Lions (2003)
Simply brilliant
This film is lovely. Heartwarming and amusing and whenever I see it pop up in the tv listings I watch it. It seems bizarre that such a great film is rarely shown. Quite bizarre. Both Caine and Duvall just bounce if each other and I'm never sure Duvall gets the credit he deserves with the amount of quality films he delivers.
Dom Hemingway (2013)
It should be better
This is an ok film. Let down by a poor story. Jude does his utmost to save it with a performance that goes from a direct copy of Ben Kingsley and morphs into Blakey from Off The Buses. Unfortunately he's not half as frightening as Kingsley was in Sexy Beast and not as likeable as Blakey. The guy playing lestor seriously needs acting lessons and from his appearance onwards the film hits a downward spiral into complete rubbish. Richard e grant delivers the performance of a complete pro and makes it more watchable. I wish I'd liked it more but it's been done over and over and better and better. If someone else had played the lead it could have been straight to video.
The House (2017)
It's so stupid
It's so stupid but it's meant to be. Enjoyed this film. Plenty of laughs and at times it was laugh out loud. It's not and never was going down in history but there is some great one liners. Enjoy it for what it is.... a very silly film.
Jack Whitehall: At Large (2017)
Dear oh dear
It's like it's been written by a child. Occasional funny line but mostly over acted and not as funny as the host thinks.
Judge Romesh (2018)
Pretty funny
A completely crazy show I think based on judge rinder where stand up comic romesh makes judgement on petty squabbles brought before him in his joke courtroom. Some of it is bizarre but it's funny stuff. Romesh is so quick witted and the court secretary is a huge plus.
The Boy Next Door (2015)
Absolutely shocking.
Badly scripted, badly acted, just so so bad.
Cliche after cliche it doesn't even come close to being believable.
The baddie is worse than bad he's rotten.
Don't waste you time.
