Troop Zero (2019)
10/10
a new favourite

Such a feel good movie with a great cast and a great message despite having a rather simple storyline.

It's a movie that I knew was going to be a comfort film of mine even before I had finished it, one I'll put on whenever I'll need something beautiful and uplifting.

I'll definitely re-watch it in the future, and as a quirky person myself (who was often bullied, and often felt out-of-place and misunderstood) this is a film I wish I had seen as a child!

Inspiring and beautifully shot, one of those unpretentious gems I'll always be recommending.

It made me smile, laugh out loud, cry, think about how much I love my friends and family... all in about an hour and a half. Just lovely.

TRIGGER WARNING: TRYPOPHOBIA
20 September 2022
It's a decent and pretty original horror film. Just beware because if you have trypophobia this could mess you up. I don't have it and some parts of this made me want to throw up, so watch at your own risk.

I'm not going to spoil it especially considering I liked the ending - which surprised me, made me feel incredibly uneasy, and yet made me think "wow, these guys have brought horror to a new level, I kinda regret watching this now". It's a slow burn for sure but in my opinion it's worth the time: I wish I could speak mandarin in order to be able to understand it in its original form since I'm sure somethings surely got lost in translation.

Wtf
24 January 2022
I'm just here to recommend you Google "Ravage movie poster" then compare that to the Alicia Vikander "Tomb Raider" movie poster. That comparison should tell you enough about this film. (spoiler: they literally took Alicia Vikander's body and photoshopped the blonde girl's face on it.)

A wonderful cry fest.
9 December 2020
This is the movie that has made me cry the most in my entire life - from start to finish. Gosh, it even made my dad cry, and he never does. It's a beautiful, imperfect film, that makes you mad about some things and melts your heart with others.

If you've ever had a dog, and especially if you've ever lost one - you will probably like this, but also somehow hate this. Nevertheless: keep some tissues close, and your pup closer.

Quite terrible

Warning: Spoilers
I was intrigued by the Dyatlov story (which I looked up prior to watching this) and since the reviews were quite high for the genre I decided to give this a go. But it was a waste of a good 1.40hrs. It's the typical 'found footage' story: shallow American students go to a foreign country/haunted place to find out the truth about it with pretty much no actual preparation, they have sex in the middle, then they face a horrible fate. Dialogues are cheesy and eye-rolling, characters are absolutely annoying... I'd personally suggest to watch something else instead.

Patient Zero (I) (2018)

Definitely not a movie I would recommend.
7 September 2020
I can't say this movie is complete garbage, because Stanley Tucci is always a great actor - but if wasn't for him, I'd say this movie is complete garbage. As a fan of the genre, I was looking forward to it as I was intrigued by the relatively new take on it (the fact that infected could communicate), so I ignored the very low ratings and bad reviews. Looking back, I probably should have listened to them, and spend my time better. Overall the actors are good, but it all goes to crap with the rushed plot and most of all with the cheesy and over the top dialogues that sound super fake and make you cringe the whole way through (especially the two line epilogue poor Matt Smith was probably forced to say. Can't remember last time I've heard such a cheesy, random, awful ending). As someone else stated: it MIGHT could have worked as a pilot for a tv series. But it still would have been meh. Would definitely no longer recommend to watch this, but if you do, just don't expect anything close to a great nor original film.

worst movie ever
18 June 2020
I watched it because I couldn't believe all the 1 star reviews, I thought they were exaggerating. They were not: it's an AWUFUL movie. Astoundingly degrading for women. And romanticising kidnapping and forced intercouse - which, you know, we absolutely DO NOT need. What where they thinking? I watched it in fast forward up to a point then gave up. I'm not a fan of the 50 shades of grey thing either, but jeez, 50 shades is way better on all points of view, and it says a lot. Spare yourself even if you're looking for some erotica - it's not worth it.

Finally a decent Italian Christmas comedy
8 October 2019
This is literally the first (and for now, only) decent Italian Christmas comedy. It clearly isn't a masterpiece, but it could easily be compared to those fun and light-hearted American or British comedies you watch with the family during the holidays. It's fun and decently acted, the CGI is good, the music is lovely. Which is way more it could be said of pretty much any other Italian comedy. Plus the sceneries are stunning, and it's a fun take on a tipically Italian tradition. It has some mild curse words in it, but in my opinion it's nothing too out there. Would recommend it for family movie time and would definitely watch again.

plain and pretty much plotless
7 October 2019
The premises are interesting - but it's all messy and repetitive in a way that makes it look like it's boring and too gory at the same time. I'd just say it's an irrelevant movie, wouldn't watch it again nor recommend it unless someone wanted a bland horror with no consistent plot.

The End? (2017)

nothing new, with an unpleasant main character
29 May 2019
It's the usual outbreak story, made way worse by the fact that the main character is unbereably detestable, selfish and stupid, from beginning to end. You don't find yourself rooting for him AT ALL. On the contrary, you end up hoping he's gonna be taken by the zombies.

Fun, epic and kinda inspirational
24 April 2019
I won't comment on all the dreadful reviews, as everyone has its own taste. But as a young woman who loves movies and superheroes, I loved it. Unlike what many on here said, I stepped out of the cinema with a sense of fulfillment and purpose, feeling inspired - Captain Marvel is a strong woman that can and should be an example for women to come. It might not be a faithful-to-the-comics movie (I wouldn't know as I haven't read them) - and on that note I would understand why many disliked it. But it's certainly VERY far from deserving a 1 out of 10 - disliking and irrationally hating are two different things. Taken as a movie of its own, as a single part of the MCU, I think it's great. It's funny and carries the 2hrs of lenght extremely well (time literally flies). It has an interesting and fairly captivating story and yes, it's not a masterpiece, but it's a goddamn good Marvel movie. Most people do not understand the importance of seeing a female super hero not being sexualised for once, and saying "I have nothing to prove to you". Just watch it without getting biased by the nonsensical hate and make your own judgment.
