War of Letters: Episode #1.1 (2023)
Promising start despite some downs
As a young Bulgarian fascinated by the medieval history of the Bulgarian Empire and Europe, I was eagerly expecting the beginning of "War of Letters". Considering key elements like cast, actual historical characters, plot and entertainment value, the TV series have great potential that I hope will turn into something positive in the long run.
However, let's focus on this specific episode that aims to introduce the audience to the characters, their personalities and motivations. I would honestly say that so far the main characters seem to be rather stereotypical and predictable. For example, Knyaz Bayan is the careless rebel who easily picks up fights, he is a good swordsman and womanizer. And then there is Petar: chess player who never engages in battles and gets tired easily when riding a horse. Labeled as weak but well educated, he is the typical nerd. I anticipate the story will put forward his personal growth as a wise and peaceful ruler. Nencho Kostov is among the best young Bulgarian actors and he does quite well as Knyaz Petar (future Tsar and Emperor of Bulgaria).
Another stereotypical character is Teodora Duhovnikova's Mariam who follows the steps of Roman Empress Livia (I, Claudius) and Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones) as the selfish and influential Queen. Expectedly, she is the one pulling the strings in the royal court: it's interesting to see in what direction her character will go next. On the other hand, deserving credit are Klimentina Fartzova as Maria and Zahary Baharov as Georgi Sursuvul. Both make brief appearances as perhaps the most captivating characters who are not one-dimensional and will have big influence on the plot.
Overall, the pacing of the episode was good which led us to different locations, opened various story arcs and successfully introduced the audience to the setting. Despite some issues with the dialogue and the above mentioned predictability of several main characters, I found the beginning of "War of Letters" interesting and rate it a solid 6/10.
Kato za posledno... (2020)
Rising talent combines with all-time comedy greats to create a Bulgarian masterpiece
Honestly, "Last Call" may really be the best drama & comedy movie released in Bulgaria in recent years. An interesting introductory puzzle of characters is quickly turned into a dynamic mix of emotions, funny confrontations and dramatic reunions. The pacing of the movie is quite good and the outcome of the plot doesn't seem to be obvious at all. This movie proves that the main thing Bulgarian cinema and theatre talents need for a masterpiece is a creative and cohesive story: this one delivers exceptionally.
Moreover, it's vital to say that the cast is really strong. The Oscar nominated Maria Bakalova here makes her breakthrough performance and has amazing chemistry with legend Vasil Banov. As the two main leads of the movie they do really well to introduce the audience to the main conflict points that need to be resolved. But from my point of view, the main star of "Last Call" must be Gerasim Georgiev - Gero who delivers stellar performance as the drunk unsuccessful opera singer Blagovest. His amazing comedic timing is really well mixed with some heartfelt and sad deliveries which totally match the concept of the movie.
Overall, I highly recommend this successful Bulgarian project that combines well established actors at the peak of their careers, legendary veterans and new talents. You won't regret seeing it!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
A new beginning for a legendary superhero!
Spider-Man: No Way Home is surely the most impressive movie of 2021 and its intensive promotion during the last few months really paid off. It closes a lot of storylines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but on the other hand, it manages to create so many new possibilities for the upcoming years and Marvel's phase 4.
In "No Way Home", Peter Parker is no longer Tony Stark's apprentice. You see Tom Holland really bringing new dimensions to the character who emerges as the responsible and independent hero he is supposed to be. This is the first MCU movie in which Parker suffers and fears, he was totally desperate. Yes, he was tested in both "Homecoming" and "Far from Home" but the general tone in these previous movies was rather comedic and entertaining. Here there is nothing about a school trip to Europe, a science competition or a Homecoming party. "No Way Home" is dramatic, thrilling and nostalgic. It is simply one of the darkest MCU movies together with "Infinity War".
In this regard, I would point out the huge influence of "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" as one of the greatest animation series ever to be made. The multiverse, the collaboration with both Daredevil and Dr. Strange, the brutal fight against the Green Goblin and the relationship with MJ were all amazingly portrayed in the spirit of the Animated Series but the highlight of the movie was Peter's relationship with his aunt May. "No Way Home" follows the main tradition that Peter remembers who he truly is through his parental figure. Marisa Tomei's performance is absolutely amazing and (perhaps) her final scene in the MCU is (from my point of view) the most emotional in these 27 movies.
To conclude, this movie brings everything that a Spider-Man fan would love to see. Emotional scenes, dramatic fights, different villains, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back in the game and a huge promise for the future. Will we see Peter living a new life as a poor photographer working for Jameson? Are we going to witness a Spider-Man vs. Venom storyline in the next movie? Is Kingpin entering the picture and Spider-Man's life? Is Peter going to successfully approach MJ and Ned after Doctor Strange's spell or he is going to meet a new love interest (Felicia Hardy) and new best friend (Harry Osbourne)? There is still a lot to see in potentially 3 more films.
Tenet (2020)
A better spy thriller than most Bond movies
Confusing and complex plot, lots of exposition, people nervously trying to find any reason for what is going on: yes, the movie has many issues and it is far behind other Nolan's masterpieces such as The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Memento or The Prestige but it is still an engaging spy thriller.
Christopher Nolan manages to greatly recreate the intense spy atmosphere from the best Bond and Bourne movies and delivers really entertaining action sequences. Washington and Pattinson form a successful partnership which is the key element throughout the entire plot, while Branagh stars as the formidable and influential Sator. His character is certainly better developed than Rami Malek's Safin in No Time to Die.
Tenet is a visually stunning movie since most of the locations are quite well picked with scenes in India, Vietnam, Estonia, Great Britain and Ukraine. In addition, the visual effects are significant and essential aspect of the film and their execution is outstanding.
To sum up, you will probably need to watch Tenet more than once in order to fully appreciate it. It definitely has more positive than negative sides which makes it a good movie! Don't rush into conclusions and be patient while watching it!
No Time to Die (2021)
Average Bond movie that should have been much better
If you expect Goldeneye or Goldfinger, then you will surely leave the theater disappointed. The movie is far from brilliant, the theme song is poor and the story is completely ridiculous, although I understand it is difficult to develop new concept after so many movies.
I miss the simple stories and inspiring Bond adventures from License to Kill, Goldfinger, The Man with the Golden Gun or even Live and Let Die. What is more, No time to die doesn't provide any intimidating and memorable main villain, there are no though henchmen, no tension throughout the movie and no real Bond girl. Ana de Armas has 5-10 minutes of screen time and she is definitely the best. I hope to see her as a leading character in the next Bond movie with a new and fresh actor in the role of 007 (for example, Richard Madden)...The Safin story is not engaging enough and Rami Malek doesn't receive enough screen time too. Instead there is too much of Q, M, Moneypenny and Nomi. I personally believe these characters should receive a maximum of two to three scenes as it was in Casino Royale because they steal much from the development of the villains and their motivation.
On the other hand, I give this score of 7 because the movie is quite entertaining and easy to watch. The action sequences are well made and they provide a right mix between quality and quantity. If you don't have high hopes for this film and don't expect a masterpiece, then it's OK and you may spend almost 3 hours enjoying it. Yes, it has many issues with the story and the chemistry between the characters but it's better than Die another day or Quantum of Solace, for example.
Golata istina za grupa Zhiguli (2021)
Impressive musical drama
"The Naked Truth About Zhiguli Band" is a right mix between musical and drama with some funny lines coming from the comedy greats Dimitar Rachkov, Gerasim Georgiev - Gero and Philip Avramov. The highlight of the movie is the theme song which concludes the storyline: "I want a role", while the other tracks bring in these special rock vibes from 30 years ago. Moreover, the leading roles and characters of Mihail Bilalov, Irini Jambonas and Lilia Maravilya have amazing chemistry together and this surely led to a number of well-delivered dramatic scenes during the climax of the film. To sum up, the movie has good quality, the storyline is simple but the actors and the songs create the real lovely value that it has!
Stolichani v poveche (2011)
Legendary TV series
I started watching "Stolichani v poveche" more than 9 years ago but its topics, stories and moral lessons are still valid for our Bulgarian reality in 2020. Season 1 is pure perfection that captures the beauty of Bulgarian nature, the beauty of Bulgarian women and all amazing aspects of Bulgarian comedy. It shows how different are Bulgarians growing, working and travelling all around the world (the character of Andrei Lyutov is a good example for such individual) in comparison with Bulgarians living constantly in the small city near Sofia (all the other characters). You experience their dreams, their fears, their hatred towards the rivals, their funny reluctance to cooperate.
"Stolichani v poveche" has 3 main storylines about love, constant treasure hunt and fight for political power between the families. It is funny, dramatic, most of the lines are extremely good and the acting is great. "Stolichani v poveche" is one of the best Bulgarian TV series ever and I totally recommend it!
Dolittle (2020)
Talking animals, terrible film editing, but strong acting
I liked "Dolittle", although at some point I fell asleep. I mean, the movie is charming, cute and enjoyable, but it's not a masterpiece. This movie matches the quality of the previous installments with Eddie Murphy, however, it has serious problems with the editing and the connection of the scenes. The actors do fine, its soundtrack is good as well, but most of the jokes are unfunny and I wouldn't describe these almost 2 hours as comedy. "Paddington", "Christopher Robin" and "Peter Rabbit" are definitely much better, "Dolittle" is a good family film, but not one that I would watch twice.
Knives Out (2019)
Kicking off 2020 with a brilliant crime comedy
It's fun to watch, it is highly entertaining, it has great cast that delivered amazing performances - "Knives Out" is a mystery you wouldn't miss. Chris Evans does very well in this movie and his character Ransom brings more drama, funny situations and some memorable lines. I didn't really expect the ending to be so highly entertaining, but the storyline managed to keep me on the edge of my seat. I totally recommend this movie, it's awesome!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
The best part of this movie was the Imperial March during the credits!
42 years amazing history, the greatest saga that inspired generations! I grew up with the Skywalker's story and I had big expectations for this ending. It turned out to be VERY BAD! These 2h. 21 min. were really embarassing and I felt betrayed from these terrible film-makers who were in it only for the money. I would like to share my experience and thoughts during these 2h and give some suggestions for a better story.
I wish to begin with the positive aspects of "The Rise of Skywalker", because it's no secret that the cast is absolutely amazing: Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley were both brilliant in this trilogy and they have no fault for the problems with story and directing. Overall, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, John Williams, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver really managed to save these few movies and I would rate positively the 2015 - 2019 period because of them. Seeing again Lando Calrissian in a Star Wars movie is always a win, while the visual effects and the sound editing were best quality.
Unfortunately, I am giving this movie 3/10 and there are several reasons for that.
1) LACK OF LOGIC AND CONSISTENCY
You need to watch your previous movies and work with what you have already established - it's clear the director really decided to leave everything that was created during "The Force Awakens". Snoke, Knights of Ren, General Hux, Maz Kanata, Captain Phasma, DJ - so many characters that needed development, but the fans got only more from Palpatine...
What was the point of creating Snoke and the Knights of Ren? It seemed they were a big deal and I had huge expectations for them before "The Last Jedi" - Snoke was killed (which I really accepted and thought it might be very interesting to see Kylo Ren as the main villain), while the Knights of Ren were there only for the cool camera shots and the final small battle with Ben. General Hux was an important character, although at some point he looked ridiculous, but his death was another sign for the lazy writing in this movie. "The Rise of Skywalker" abandened all the characters from the previous movies (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi) and decided to focus on Palpatine...AGAIN.
2) EMPEROR PALPATINE
He was a character that didn't need to be in this movie. Firstly, if you respect the ending of "Return of the Jedi", you would never include the Emperor in this one, because there is no logic in it. I didn't like his contribution to the plot, it seemed the film-makers didn't have any clue on what to do with their characters and decided to revive him and even make him Rey's grandpa which is absolutely lame. Palpatine is selfish and cruel, it's not in his nature to have a child - when was this child even born and why wasn't his son mentioned in the previous movies? Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one and he destroyed the Sith, everything else just doesn't count.
3) Chris Terrio
The man that destroyed the DC Universe is now demolishing Star Wars. I have already watched Batman vs Superman and Justice League - both movies had terrible screenplay and this led DC to great crisis. I saw that Terrio is about to be responsible for the next Justice League instalment - I have a feeling I am going to miss this experience.
4) "The Rise of Skywalker" would have been much better, if it was more focused on Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren. A final showdown between Rey and Kylo together with his Knights could have made this movie awesome. Kylo was a perfect villain and his relationship with Rey was very positive for these 3 movies. A change in the approach towards General Hux might have also made this film good to watch - he was dangerous and ambitious and that could have led to a promising climax against Finn and Poe.
Overall, it is sad that the Skywalker saga finishes like that, but all 9 movies are entertaining and I would watch them anywhere and anytime. This one was bad, but don't worry, there is still much to come!
Ford v Ferrari (2019)
Give this man an Oscar!
I had huge expectations for "Ford v Ferrari" and the movie didn't disappoint at all! Amazing Christian Bale - he is again doing perfect job portraying a very interesting character. Life and work of racing drivers are usually really complicated and every big champion needs to tackle different issues in their private or professional life. The movie managed to tell us a complete and heartbreaking story that involved conflicts on different levels. Miles (Christian Bale) and Shelby (Matt Damon) against the interests of Leo Beebe (Josh Lucas), Ford vs Ferrari, the expectations of Henry Ford II, the feeling of being a great racing driver but also a great role model for your son. Honestly, Bale deserves an Oscar for this performance and I am really looking forward to the Oscars next year, because 2019 offered some of the best movies in the history of cinema.
Joker (2019)
"What is wrong with all you people?": "Joker" is an unbelievable dark and conflicting movie
Well, it is usually very hard to say anything after something so disturbing as this movie, but "Joker" was thought-provoking, intense and extremely powerful, it was something unseen for the last 10 years. Comedy, tragedy, imaginary love story, pain, violence, conflicts - it looked so real and this usually makes one movie a masterpiece. I mean, Arthur was a man having lots of conflicts and involved in different contexts with different characters. He was simultaneously the villain and the hero, most of his actions were absolutely horrible, but they actually made sense in these contexts. His final confrontation against Murray was one of the best scenes I have ever experienced - his style, his movement, the way he talked...amazing. He could never win this fight against society, but let's face it: he is the one who makes sense and not Batman. Everybody wants to be the hero, defeat the bad guy, win the girl at the end and live happily ever after, but that's not always the case and it is definitely sad.
"Joker" is the movie DC really needed - after I wasted my time with movies like "Batman vs Superman" and "Justice League" I really expected something different from them and they finally delivered a quality product. DC comics have 3 A-list characters: Batman, Superman and the Joker and people expect top movies with these guys. Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Flash are there for the entertainment and they don't deliver high ratings or fans. Amazing choice to do this movie and great job by both Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix. They really managed to match the quality of "Avengers: Endgame" and also outshine "Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood" in the run for the Oscars. I am really looking forward to see Christian Bale and "Ford v Ferrari", but right now Joaquin Phoenix is a big contender for "Best Actor in a Leading Role".
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Are you OK? Is everyone OK? Boring disappointment with a shocking ending!
This year so far I believed the two main contenders for Best Picture during the Oscars would be 'Once Upon a Time ...in Hollywood' and 'Ford v Ferrari'. Well, I was wrong and even think that 'Avengers: Endgame' has bigger chance of winning the award than this Hollywood drama/'comedy'. I mean, there was no comedy in it, the first two hours didn't have any content at all...
I watched 'Pulp Fiction' two days ago and my expectations for this one were really high, because Quentin Tarantino usually delivers top movies. I was really hoping to see a masterpiece, but I left the theatre with frustration and anger for the wasted time. I saw Leonardo DiCaprio's character whining for 2 hours, Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate didn't have any contribution to the plot, her main scenes were part of the brilliant trailer that made me watch this movie. I feel they were both wasted in this one - Margot Robbie is an incredible actress and might be the best in Hollywood right now, while Leo DiCaprio is a top performer for more than 20 years. I didn't enjoy their characters as much as I enjoyed Vince Vega or Butch Coolidge.
The character that I found quite interesting was actually Cliff Booth and Brad Pitt might be the only person in this movie with an Oscar worthy performance. His acting was extremely good in this one and I think his three main scenes were fascinating: the one against Bruce Lee, the one in Spanh Ranch and the ending one which I would also describe as shocking.
To sum up, 'Once Upon a Time ...in Hollywood' is not a masterpiece, but its musical score and some single acting performances saved its rating. When you hear 'Are you OK?'/ 'Is everyone OK? more than 3 times at the end of the movie, then you will be frustrated and it's not funny...
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Spider-Man: Far from Home - delightful, cute and quite entertaining
Spider-Man: Far from Home is a movie which I would watch anywhere at any time. It was a relaxing experience, enjoyable comedy with some creative surprises. Tom Holland is not my favourite Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire is the hero from my childhood), but his approach to the role is very successful, he is clearly charming and believable as the web slinger.
Although this is a movie about Spider-Man and his adventures in Europe, the star of this film is once again Tony Stark whose actions and inventions bring the main conflict points of "Far from Home". MCU is still really dependent on Iron Man and Mysterio is another proof for that. Mysterio made this movie quite entertaining, his music theme was an extreme pleasure and his role in the film really exceeded my expectations. I would say people will link this Spider-Man movie mostly with the presence of Jake Gyllenhaal in the cast - great actor with huge experience.
The supporting cast delivered many enjoyable moments as well - Zendaya is gorgeus as MJ, her character is intelligent and fits perfectly in the plot. Another star is Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds - a character who is a treasure for both Spider-Man movies, it is impossible to not enjoy his scenes in the movie.
To sum up, "Far from Home" is one of the best sequels ever made, every character was valuable and I enjoyed every second a lot. Go and watch it, Marvel delivered again!
Captain Marvel (2019)
Awesome action, marvellous Brie Larson
I just can't understand the hate towards this nice movie. Yes, it's far from Infinity War, but I feel it's still among top 10 in the MCU. Brie Larson is gorgeus, she did her best and I believe she will fit perfectly in the upcoming movies.
Action scenes on highest level, interesting plot and touching score - Marvel soundtracks continually improve and I think this one is great as well.
'Captain Marvel' is maybe the first movie in which you can actually see more from Nick Fury and understand his vital role for the MCU. Samuel L. Jackson does a decent job and he has a strong supporting role.
Well, I have to say something about the villains in this film - just expect something similar to what happened in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2'.Nice plot twists, interesting investigation and awesome final fight. Don't expect a punching contest like in 'Civil War' or a clever solution like in 'Doctor Strange' - the final battle could be compared to a marvellous inspiration like in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. The bad guys were actually very interesting and delivered entertainment.
I think 9/10 is fair, 'Captain Marvel' is way better than 'Thor: The Dark World' or 'Ant-man'.
Vazvishenie (2017)
Breathtaking Bulgaria - the new masterpiece of Bulgarian cinema
Drama, satire, action and breathtaking Bulgarian landscapes - "Heights" is surely one of the best Bulgarian movies in recent years. You will laugh, but you will also cry - you will have the opportunity to explore different dimensions of Bulgarian society in the years before 1878. If you are interested in Bulgarian history, "Heights" might be the best and most interesting option. Plot, soundtrack, characters - everything is on a very high level. It is great to see so many young Bulgarian actors in this movie - Bulgarian cinema has a bright future. Enjoy the views, the mountains, the funny dialogues and the touching score. 10/10 for "Heights" - new masterpiece of Bulgarian cinema.
The Favourite (2018)
Too many sins
Yesterday I had the chance to watch the extraordinary movie "The Favourite" and I wish to share my feelings related to it.
Firstly, I have no idea why this movie was even nominated for "Best Picture" - after spending so much money in the theater I was expecting to see something creative and interesting with my friends, but I just fell asleep after 20 minutes. "The Favourite" is just boring - boring plot, predictable characters, annoying score. The soundtrack of this movie was supposed to be stylish and touching but I can compare it to a loud noise which gave me only frustration.
7.7,7,8/10 - I just can't believe you gave this high score to a such tasteless movie. It was a weird experience - the constant repetitions of the word "c***" and the puking scenes were extremely unpleasant. There was just no development and the end of the film can be described as ridiculous.
I still have to say some good words about this movie, because I saw something positive in it. Emma Stone is once again great during these 2 hours and she is in a league of her own - Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz are not on her level, although it seemed they tried hard. The huge surprise from me was Nicholas Hoult whose supporting role is on a really high level - I see in his face a new Hugh Grant (17 years after "About a boy") and expect to see him in more movies in the future.
"The Favourite" has too many sins and I can surely say it didn't deserve so many Oscar nominations. I would probably give an Oscar to Emma Stone, but the other nominations are ridiculous.
Christopher Robin (2018)
Love, charm and friendship
This movie will cheer you up and you will surely fall in love with most of the characters! Winnie the Pooh represents the love, the friendship and the charm of this film - colourful character, vital role model for all small children. Nowadays, the majority of animated movies are an absolute disaster (The emoji movie; Trolls; Angry birds) and children desperately needed charaters like Pooh, Paddington and Peter Rabbit.
"Christopher Robin" gives us joy and comedy, but it also has its darker moments which bring us to reality. It is good to think that the childhood, the love and the innocence are so much stronger than the war and the injustice in the life of the working people. Christopher Robin achieved his goals and experienced his spiritual change. Ewan McGregor did a perfect job and I believe his performance can earn him an Oscar nomination.
Vezdesushtiyat (2017)
Omnipresent: realistic, annoying and funny
"Omnipresent" (2017) is the strangest Bulgarian movie that I have ever seen - a unique idea in the Bulgarian cinema, good acting, but there are so many unnecessary scenes which just can't develop the characters. Everything is so slow, realistic, annoying and silly - these constant sex scenes brought the mixed feelings that I had after watching the film.
Emil (the main character) isn't the great hero who saves the day, his story is so real and imperfect. Relationships, job, family life, spicy reactions and emotions - they actually made me give 6/10. He was simultaneously a badass and a charming funny gentleman who follows all the actions of his father-in-law.
Revolution X: The Movie (2018)
Revolution X: funny, fresh and conflicting
I had mixed feelings after watching Revolution X: The Movie. On one hand, the movie was funny, the plot was interesting and people can follow different storylines. There are several main characters who deliver the entertainment. On the other hand, I can't ignore the plot holes and the impossible silly situations which make this film so conflicting - a kidnapped girl will surely call the police in such situations (how did she actually still have her phone???), her silly friends should also have called the police. What's more, I had the feeling that the teachers were more than the students which is also impossible in the real world.
Revolution X still had its shining stars - I liked the way the criminals were introduced and their development was unbelievably good. Mihail (Alexander Sano) was surely the most valuable character in the movie and his scenes were quite enjoyable for the audience.
Overall, the movie delivered many enjoyable moments and you can watch it in order to support the Bulgarian cinema!
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Solo: A Star Wars Story - I had a good feeling about this!
Solo: A Star Wars Story is an adventure, which shows a whole new world in the Star Wars Universe. I liked the movie, although some of the moments were quite predictable. Alden Ehrenreich did great job and was believable as the young Han. The character was simultaneously smart and stupid, confident and shy, leader and loser - this is the original Solo, who we want to see.
I think the movie had huge problems with the villains - Paul Bettany wasn't the menace which I expected to see. Solo: A Star Wars Story just needed more from Darth Maul - his one scene was great, but wasn't enough.
Finally, the soundtrack wasn't inspiring (like in the other nine films), but the CGI was once again great. However, the visual effects were not as good as these in Avengers: Infinity War.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Deadpool 2 - a nice superhero parody
The Terminator, James Bond, Thanos, Batman, Wolverine - you can find so many legendary characters in Deadpool 2. The movie is a huge parody, I had good experience during these two hours. I didn't laugh that much, some of the jokes were very stupid, but there are several characters who saved the day. Domino, Peter and the Vanisher were the fresh and funniest new characters in the movie - I wanted to see more from the X-Force in Deadpool 2. In addition, I needed to see more from Colossus, whose connection to Deadpool is so special for both movies. I didn't like how Cable was introduced and he was just one of the many in the mix. The beginning was so slow and the plot didn't really need Cable. That's why I think Colossus could have been the second main character in a movie with a different villain. The soundtrack wasn't special and the effects weren't good enough. I think 6/10 is fair!
Peter Rabbit (2018)
The rabbit strikes back!
Paddington, Garfield and now Peter - our favourite characters have their own movies. "Peter Rabbit" is an enjoyable comedy, charming story about five brave rabbits trying to defeat their biggest enemy - Mr. McGregor. Benjamin, Peter and his sisters live quite dangerously - their adventurous spirits make this movie so great. The rabbits are like small children, they need support, love and adventure. That is why this movie is so good for young children - they will surely love the sweet rabbits.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Finally, the wait is over!!! Epic movie!
I have just watched "Avengers: Infinity War" and I feel inspired - the wait is over! Amazing characters, epic action scenes, you will laugh, but you will also cry. It was great to see my favourite Guardians of the Galaxy together with the Avengers - "I am Groot" followed by "I am Steve Rogers". Thanos is surely the best Marvel villain - so powerful and emotional. He begins the whole action with a short fight with Hulk - I think this is a good introduction and all people can easily understand how strong he actually is. The fans lose Heimdall and the iconic Loki - the death of our favourite villain was so tragic especially after his great line ("We have a Hulk!").
The film is surely well developed and people can follow different stories - Thor, Tony Stark and Peter Quill lead the storyline. I expected more from Captain Rogers, Black Panther and Bruce Banner, but they seemed to be only supporting characters. Parker and Strange did great job together with Iron-Man, while the Guardians were having hard time against Thanos on Knowhere. I love the relationship between Gamora and Star-Lord and their scene against Thanos was one of the best in the movie - sad, strong, great. Gamora has to be back in the next movie, I really need her in this situation.
The battle on Titan was the best in the whole MCU - they were so close!!! The battle in Wakanda was good, but the fight between Iron-Man and Thanos was on the highest level. You need to watch this movie, I am planning to do this once again!
Attraction (2018)
Attraction - a realistic movie about the lost Bulgarian young generation
Attraction is surely an interesting movie with a clear plot - it presents the life of the young history teacher Lora Angelova, who struggles to cope with the problems at her school. Most of her students are arrogant, interested only in money and relationships. They lie and act like bullies during the whole film - you will probably hate almost all of the young characters in the film. What I disliked in this movie is that they did not change their behaviour at the end - they stayed the same "cool" guys with the same value system.
I give this 7/10 mostly because it is a Bulgarian film, I support the Bulgarian cinema, but I would like to see a movie which shows the bright side of our new generation. There are young people who have other values, support their parents and their teachers, study really hard in order to have a happy life, understand the real meaning of the word "love".
