The Gray Man (2022)

Not a masterpiece, but very enjoyable
18 September 2023
I don't really get all the haters of this movie, because I don't think it's bad at all. For myself, I bought Gosling as the stoneface with quick remarks and found it enjoyable. It's not a deep story and you could argue that the characters are cliche, but even if they are, I think it works in this movie. The action scenes are decent, but not top of the line. It's a good vs bad classic, very basic, with characters easy to read. Chris Evans is convincing as the role of the psychopath. The child actor does a great job as well. Billy Bob Thornton is also quite decent. So even if the story is a simple one, I found it quite enjoyable.

Low budget gem!

If you expect action, watch something else, but with that said...This is a movie for the mind, to make you think about the future. I thought the performances were really good as well as the dialogue. The ethical problems with AI is nothing new, but the execution was kind of beautiful. Almost like a theater play divided into three acts. The actress playing the little girl is convincing as an AI, really selling in the concept. Perhaps I'm a sucker for this type of AI flicks, and that makes me biased, but I think it sais something when I can watch through it all and not loose focus once and at the end just go...woh.

That's more like it!
8 April 2021
I've seen excuses for the last 5 episodes being covid-episodes with limited possibilities. I do get that its troublesome, but well, this one was also a covid-bonus-episode right? Then it wasn't impossible to write something great after all. The genuine feel of suspense was back again and the writing on point.

Change of management???
7 April 2021
From a couple of episodes ago, from the end of the whisperers, a sudden change happened to this show culminating in this episode. Meaningless dialogue. Storyline standing absolutely still. Embarrassing writing. Bad soundtrack. Even the makeup work feels worse. It went from "top of the line" to embarrassing immediately. Did the money run out or something or has there been a change of management from the end of the wisperers?

This is actually painful to see, change it back please!!!

Internal logic fails to deliver on some points, but not bad anyway.
24 March 2021
I like the general idea of this film and I don't mind the slow pace, but the film has some issues. Some of the characters contribute only confusion and nothing else. That's really annoying. When a certain change occurs in the film, it feels like it's happening too fast, and I have a hard time believing the internal logic of it.

Brilliant drama thus far...but will it hold?
26 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Some of the critics here are concerned that Netflix are milking the romantic tension between Otis and Maeve one step too far and I share this concern, they need to find each other within the next couple of episodes of season 3, or the whole series will loose it's credibility. This main drama between the two lead characters feels more and more "scripted" and not believable and it's starting to get annoying. Had they clicked at the end of season 2, okay, then it would have been a perfect 10, now it's a 9 out of 10, but that can drop really really fast if they don't click soon.

Otherwise an absolutely brilliant show with all the ingredients you need!

Agent Hamilton (2020–2022)

Not great, but not terrible either so far
23 January 2020
I've seen 3 episodes so far. I haven't read the books, but seen all the movies and TV-mini-series before this one and maybe that's why I'm not quite so disappointed.

It's true, its too much secret police involved thus far, I'd rather see more of the spy-business, the cloak and dagger parts, and the police are usually only used to show how stupid they are. This is deliberate, and it has always been Gillous style. The police always several steps behind, and Hamilton/op5 to save the day. And indeed, the police are depicted as painfully naiv. Hopefully more of Hamiltons solo-trips, and less police in the episodes to come.

A lot better than expected!
19 January 2020
Seeing this series was created by familyguy-guy, Seth MacFarlane, I expected it to be about silly jokes only....it's not. This is so much more, dealing with difficult ethical dilemmas. I didn't see this coming. A pleasant surprise!

Worthy of a higher rating!
13 January 2020
This is probably the type of film you either love or hate. Maybe it's not a masterpiece, but well worthy a watch. The title sais it all. Dreamland. You don't know what to expect. Anything can and will happen. If you like the mystic atmosphere of Twin Peaks, you'll probably like this one.

Not that bad for a B-type movie.
3 September 2018
You need to know to begin with, that this is a B-type movie, but with that being said, its not as bad as some criticts make it out to be. The action scenes are decent, the characters of the team well made out and the dialogue pretty decent as well, including some humour. I found the psychopath charachter interesting for instance and a bit different from what you usually see. Of course it includes cliches, but it wouldn't be a b-type movie without it.
