Cordelia (2019)
Inexplicable
This story makes no sense. In fact it really is not a story but rather a disconnected series of plot elements thrown together to ultimately leave it to the viewer to come up with some kind of explanation for it all. The viewer then must fail as there isn't one narrative I can think of to make sense of what is seen. I agree with others. It's too bad because it has it's good points. Good atmospherics and a capable cast. For the first 2/3 of the movie I was wondering what would happen and as it was pretty mysterious. The lead actress is capable and overall the movie is adequately creepy. But in the end, don't waste time on this. It will leave you feeling cheated.
The Hole in the Ground (2019)
Tedious and slow
The good points: the movie has a ton of horror-movie-like atmosphere, both tense and brooding. The bad: shots of the mother's face reacting to odd stuff go on endlessly. Odd stuff keeps happening to her and it's hard to understand why and sometimes even what exactly is freaking her out. Also the movie is so dark (unlit) most of the time it's difficult to know what is happening. The woman almost never turns on any lights and the ones that are on only illuminate the area immediately beneath them. The movie is very slow moving, I wore the tips of my fingers off drumming the table, waiting for whatever was going to happen to happen. And the ending was inexplicable to me. I didn't get it. But maybe that is because I'm not Irish.
The Nest (2020)
Needed an ending that made reasonable sense
Spoiler Alert! The movie was SLOW, but builds and eventually you are pulled in. Then the ending comes and you are left wondering, "What was THAT!!!???" You are left wondering, why did these characters just do what they did? Absolutely ruined it, and utter insult to the viewers investment of time spent on tis film. So sorry I stayed to the end.
