Baby Driver (2017)

Pure show or 21st century western
27 September 2017
Good action movie with a protagonist (Baby) of enigmatic and magnetic personality and an outstanding soundtrack. There is suspense, emotion and very good scenes of persecution; only Kevin Spacey does not seem the actor appropriate to the script, his performance is impersonal and unconvincing, nevertheless it is obscured by the rest of actors and in general by the whole show.

A piece of life
27 September 2017
This film has no beginning or end because it is itself a piece of life of two friends and therefore almost real. The action takes place in Brazil but could have happened anywhere else; it is a realistic story in which no older person appears, (except briefly by Skype the mother of one of the protagonists and the conversation is soon over) the film therefore is composed of mixed characters of different ages without family ties. They share illusions, problems, loves and disappointments, joys and sorrows. At an age when many people are not sure of anything yet and abandon what they have achieved, others see in what they have abandoned an opportunity of a new life and a future. Like the fable of the old philosopher there are those who gathered up what others throw away. This film with very good interpretations gets you to become one of the protagonists. A third friend.

The Art of Annulment
21 September 2017
Sometimes it is easier to destroy a common father (say, most of us) than to a parent with a super-ego. In the case of Mesteren/The Man; the destruction is total. The Son hidden behind his face of good boy and without great effort, destroys the father figure in a great revenge. Not only appropriates the wife, and the lover, but also nullifies the father artistically with his own tools getting even his father's team to collaborate in his graffiti works. Let's say, the son not only defeats his father artistically but also in his same emotional field, something (by the way) that many parents suffer at some point of the life; maybe not with so much intensity but this concept of father's destruction is an universal truth. The best thing is the final and incomprehensible reaction of his father in the acceptance of all the facts. This is a movie that makes you think especially if you are a father.

Spoor (2017)

Once upon a time...
19 September 2017
"Once upon a time, far away from here, there was a cute Old lady, very very fond of animals...." Spoor is a cruel tale of our days in which there is no lack of Little Red Riding Hood, The Wolf (both in disguise) and many hunters; but the originality is that the role of all of them is in reverse. We have such a beautiful ending that is not real. In this story we are shown the utmost consequences of two extremes radically opposed; we are shown on the one hand the excessive love for hunting and abuse of animals and on the other hand what can be the most extreme extent in the defense of animals, namely: some men kill animals and those who are against all that and oppose, can even kill men. Spoor is a Tale for people of today and culturally affecting many countries traditions, and above all with many aspects to think seriously about.

What came first, the egg or the hen? "Killer Klowns" or "It"
12 September 2017
Anyway it does not seem to matter much.Killer Klowns takes part of the gang of "thuggish movies" like "The Rocky Horror Show","Gremlins" etc. This movie has the merit of being a surprise from start to the end. It's like a circus show where you do not know what's going to happen in the next minute. It is made with graceful rhythm and overflowing imagination, the idea is really original and has memorable gags never seen in other movies. It's the perfect movie to get away with, it makes you to forget your worries and enjoying a really good time.

A very awkward guest
12 September 2017
Gathering characters around a table is always a good pretext for making movies. Situations like Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are often a good pretext to exhibit, not only good food but interesting and disparate human behavior. "Celebration" by Thomas Vinterberg, "August" by Johan Wells, are just two good examples. To those would have to add Beatriz at dinner. In this case the moral or the lesson to learn would be: "do not join with anyone incompatible at a table, and if you do, try to contribute to the success of the celebration". Sincerity and simplicity both has always been a bad companion for dinner. Beatriz understands herself that she does not belong to that table but neither to this world. The clash of personalities here is strong, interesting and very well exposed.

Lady Macbeth (2016)

One more for the collection
22 August 2017
The figure of Lady Macbeth has been treated beforehand directly or indirectly on many occasions. 12 films about Macbeth and his inseparable Lady counted from 1908 to 2015, T. V. film adaptations, Plays, Ballet, Opera, etc. All those antecedents along with the BBC's seal seemed to guarantee the good result of this work. This Lady Macbeth is slightly inspired by the novel "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District" by the Russian writer of the 19th century Nikolai Leskov, so slightly that along 89 min.they do not get a base or solid structure. In the argument. They appear, a husband and a wife, heirs, servants and lovers themselves, suddenly. as fast is their appearance as their disappearance, we do not know its origin, (they appear without more), to disappear (by hindrance) at the same speed. As to scenes of sex the movie meets the quota, it is remarkable the final gaze of the lady protagonist; it seems to indicate us; "Be careful, the next victim could be yourself." The movie in general is fine but it could have been achieved a better result with a longer duration, the title of the film is its best guarantee facing the box office but It only manages to be one more for the collection (and not the best one).

More than a Legend
13 August 2017
Impressive document on the life and career of Joe Cocker. Successes and failures, addictions and much more revolve around him like a merry-go-round,the whole thing make up a fascinating life, perhaps they are missing in the documentary more performances and maybe the opinions of the guests should be shorter.Thank you Joe wherever you are.
