Or very similar. In the aria, the heroine Wally threatens to go far away (kill herself) if her father forces her to marry a man she doesn't love. In the prostitute's tape, she knows she will be killed because the villain won't let her leave prostitution. And both women are singing! (The prostitute is "singing" (informing) on her boss--and yes, French has the same slang meaning)
