The Con is On (2018)
Literally and figuratively, a farce of a movie.
8 May 2018
Where to begin. The opening credits were lifted from Catch Me if You Can and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It fails to capture the essence of either. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie, half of which are title sequence, you become quickly aware that the editing was created by Stevie Wonder's stand in, Blind Freddie. Blind Freddie is actually only 10 years old and suffers from narcolepsy, evidence of which can be seen in the panning shots which are supposed to create a segway to the next scene but linger way too long. The acting is, for the want of a better term, dire. It is quite clear that most of the actors are low on cash and have done a turn for a quick injection in their pocket books, which only helps to seal the fate of this abomination. I liked most of the actors in this movie prior to seeing it, now their credibility along with my admiration have dispersed quicker than a whale turd. Whoever suggested this is a movie to stick at an enjoy, or the viewer has to work to enjoy, must be from the cast, crew, family or financiers. Truly awful suggestion.

Baby Driver (2017)
Meh
4 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I still prefer Walter Hills 1978 Driver.

Visually enticing but lacking development, story and impetus to keep me interested. People were walking out of the theatre and not for bathroom breaks. One guy laughed throughout at the weirdest bits, which I am really trying to remember what they were.

Too many quick cuts made the movie, for me disjointed and messy but then that is like most movies that seem to push this genre.

Seemed to be a hash up movie of Point Break, The Hitcher and the venerable and still relevant (and better) Walter Hills Driver with Ryan O'Neil, which I might add had no stupid music running through it. Maybe it's because I did not empathise with the lead character, who to me was a stroppy teenager who did not like his father figure, in the super sized shape of Kevin Spacey (now a rotund Keyser Söze) who has spent more of his limited screen time being the lead character until his untimely end which was annoyingly Hollywood and predictable.

Jamie fox should have just shot everyone and the movie would have been better for it and again his over emphasised pointless demise came to quickly. John Hamm spent most of his time trying to be Jamie Fox and failed multiple times.

So I either did not see what everyone else is gushing over or I just prefer movies that don't keep slapping you over the head every five seconds with stuff that really does not make the movie any better.

Had I not paid £12.50 I would have walked out myself.

Forgettable movie and not one I'd like to keep in my collection.
