#1 problem finally adressed but...
26 April 2020
Finally a documentary that finally points out the REAL problem when it comes to climate change: the overpopulation of Earth. Even if every one of the 8 000 000 000 people on Earth would live more sustainably, it would still not be enough to completely save the planet. Have you ever seen the chart that compares the different actions that can be done? Spoiler alert: having one fewer child is 300 times more effective than recycling. I must say though that I still have two problems with the documentary.

First, the documentary says that the overpopulation of Earth is the problem but it doesn't say why nobody accepts the simple solution of making less babies. Is it because of religion? Babies are cute? Having more babies equals success in life? The freedom of having more kids is more important than our planet? Less babies is bad for the economy?

Second, reducing the population (if we ever do it) will take multiple decades. So, what are we going to do about climate change until then? Hydroelectricity was never mentioned nor nuclear. What about public transportation? What about eating less meat? What about taking the plane once every 3-4 years (and staying longer) rather than flying every year for vacation?

The paradox of survivalism
21 April 2020
I'm guessing the terrible reviews are from survivalist-pro-gun enthusiasts and the perfect scores are from Quebeckers? The fair score should be somewhere in between 7 and 8.

It seems like a lot of people didn't understand the movie. The movie is not about how to survive in a post-apocalyptic scenario. The idea of this movie is to explore the paradox of people putting themselves in more danger by ensuring their safety in case of an apocalyptic scenario. They learn about guns and explosives to be ready for that scenario, but they omit the risk of an accident happening before the occurrence of such a scenario (if it unlikely does).

Sure the movie could have been better. but let's be honest, its budget was pretty limited (5M$) and on top of that, it's an action-horror type of movie (what would you expect more?). I personally would have liked the last fight scene to have more emphasis on grappling and basic military tactics to really highlight the gap between someone with real military and martial training from someone with amateur training.

What the F***?
30 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a scientist who make studies in water environment. I have a bachelor degree in civil engineering, a master degree in environment engineering as well as a second master degree in management.

While it is true that agriculture is cruel towards the animals and that it is responsible for a lot of environmental problems, the author of this documentary clearly does not have any idea how to investigate over a subject of such a large scale.

For a starter, he doesn't understand that to draw a conclusion, you need MULTIPLE studies. By the logic of the author, it would be true that global warming is a hoax because there are some studies that prove it (1-3% of the scientists).

To continue, he doesn't understand that correlation does NOT prove anything (it is however a good starting point to initiate a research). By the logic of the author, global warming would be responsible for the raise in terrorism since they both increased at the same time.

To finish, in science, the logic you establish has to be valid in ALL cases. For an example: the human beings do not need a lot of protein because after all the hundreds of thousands of years of evolution, the human being evolved in order to create a low protein human milk. Fine, you have a point. But that would also mean that the human being NEEDS animal proteins because he has been haunting animals for hundreds of thousands of years!

Some information in this documentary is really dangerous to the general population:

-Sugar does not create diabetes;

-It is impossible for carbs to make you fat;

-Smoking is not too bad, compared to eating eggs;

  • If you are sick, you don't need to take you medicine.

Let me be clear, I have nothing against vegetarians or vegans, but this documentary has a weak scientific background, it is highly biased as well as being dangerous for the population. In conclusion, this documentary is WRONG in all the senses of the word.
