Kairos (2020)

Well I am hooked.
2 November 2020
I've watched the first 3 episodes and I am totally addicted. If it continues on this good it has the makings of being one of the best K-Dramas I've seen.

Good cast, well acted and an interesting storyline.

Update: Just watched episode 6 and am still addicted, twists and turns galore.

Why such low ratings?

Sure this has everything we're used to in a BBC series. (Conservatives are bad, gay people make up about 40% of the population, etc.) But past the usual, this was a very entertaining series. Well worth watching.

Just when I thought American TV could stoop no lower.

It did.

I watched about 10 minutes and left with the question: "How did they sell this to any sponsor?"

Typical Hallmark Mystery
25 February 2019
This is a typical Hallmark production. Like easy listening music, staring out the window watching it snow, graham crackers and milk. Brown paper packages tied up with string - these are a few of my favorite things. . .

Nothing "edgy", no profound social relevance, not a political message in sight. No mutilated bodies, no characters bonking each other for no apparent reason and no unnecessary strings of profanity (Oh, did I already say it's not "edgy" ?).

It's a "lay on the sofa and watch on Saturday when there's nothing better to do" kind of movie.

It is what it is and I enjoyed it as such.

It's not the despair. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand.

"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

Solid B- student film
6 December 2018
For a low budget student film, it's not half bad. OK, maybe a little more than half bad. If would be best to waste an hour and 15 minutes of your life on something else.

Read the book
15 September 2018
Read the book and you will realize that this move - and the 1973 one - both pale in comparison. You remember books. Those are the things that contain interesting stories that movie producers seek to destroy.

Star Trek for the 21th Century
25 September 2017
The only people who seem not to like this new Star Trek are people who feel they have to compare it to previous incarnations. Sure there's no Shatner or Nimoy, no Bones or Sulu or Scotty but there also are no 50 year old cheesy special effects, no thin plot lines and no ill fitting costumes. While I do like the old Star Trek, I doubt if I - or anyone else - would like a remake of the original series with different actors.

I very much enjoyed this for what it is - an pretty darn good Sci-fi show. Who cares if the technology does not fit the Star Trek "timeline"? Or if the Klingons look different? If that bothers you, just go watch the original 79 Star Trek episodes over and over again.

People, get over it! It's time to go where no man has gone before and stop living in the past.

It's better than I thought it would be
20 August 2017
Reading the reviews here before watching, I was pretty sure I would not like this movie. Well I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Most of the negative reviews are based not on the quality of the movie but based on the fact that those reviewers do not believe in God.

I myself doubt that God exists but to pan a movie simply for that reason makes no more sense than giving Star Wars one star because you do not believe in wookiees.
