1899 (2022)
Brilliant Show
Imagine watching a cross between Dark and Lost and much more. It will grip you with the first episode. Great introduction to the characters similar to Lost. The plot is amazing you think you are on one journey then you are not.
As I don't speak German my love of Dark was probably diminished as I only watched the dubbed version. In 1899 it is mostly in English with subtitles for all the different characters. Brilliant symbolical. I could not stop watching these episodes. Who is the wizard behind the curtain like the wizard of oz ?
If you like Lost and Dark you will love this series. Five stars *****
Das Privileg (2022)
The Mephisto Waltz remake of 2022
The Privilege is basically a remake of the 1971 horror movie classic The Mephisto Waltz starring Alan Alda, Jacqueline Bisset, Barbara Parkins and the great Curd Jürgens from the novel by Fred Mustard Stewart. The Privilege is a modern day remake it still has witchcraft, but instead of masks and occult rituals it uses pills containing fungi and instead of a coven it has a pharmaceutical company instead.
I actually enjoyed this film after watching it from a well know streaming company.
The acting is good and very much more for a young adult audience.
It has not the same ending as The Mephisto Waltz but still has twist at the end of the film.
I would still recommend anyone that enjoyed this film to take some time out to watch the original horror masterpiece that is The Mephisto Waltz (1971)
Overall good modern day retailing.
Ares (2020)
Very Good
The whole series for me was very good not brilliant but good with a strange twist at the end. I am British so completely understand the ending with East India Company or VOC in Dutch the first corporation. How did it get it power? I enjoyed the slow pace of the series. The acting was great. There were a few silly bits but on the whole very good more suspense than a horror apart from the last Episode. I think it good to the end series there not really needed a second series.
The Missing (2014)
The best detective stories since Agatha Christie
The Missing series 1 was brilliant. Series 2 was amazing. Brilliantly written and very well acted. Why the series have not won more awards not sure why probably because of the distributions. Amazing writing.
