Munkey Jones Stops a School Shooting (2018)
This is an important film that everyone should watch.
Before I watched this film, I was a low life incel, Jumping from board to board. However, once I witnessed the light of Munkey Jones stops a School Shooting, I ascended to a supreme gentleman. Where to begin with this masterwork? The score is immersive and breathtaking, using such hits as Baba O Riley and Ocean Man to set the tone throughout the film. The non-linear structure gives the film a sense of individuality, setting it aside from similar plots such as the one used on Momento, which honestly just came off as pretentious.
The cast is delightful to watch. They really give their all, especially Adam Johnston's cameo at the end, and who could forget the LGBTQ+ kiss between Vincent and Fabulous Feline. This was really groundbreaking for the time and I'm just so proud of this community for making this happen. When Munkey Jones initially died, I cried so much my face was wet, so you know I'm not lying, but when he was brought back to life by the god he loved, my eyes were filled with tears of joy.
One thing to note about this film is the context in which it was created. It was created to challenge famed director Derek "Daddy Derek" Savge, who had cancelled his film "Cool Cat stops a School Shooting" for "budgetary reasons". However, Mumkey Jones saw through Savage's lies and wanted to prove that this kind of film can be made on a budget of next to nothing. Needless to say, Jones' vision was successful in proving that you don't need a high budget to talk about school shootings.
In summation, Flushed Away is the most underrated of all DreamWorks films and is a lot more than toilet puns and minion slugs.
Moshi Monsters: The Movie (2013)
Eh
Most of the characters I found to be pretty unlikable (Katsuma especially). Most of the songs are just reused from previous Moshi Monsters material and the original songs are bland and mostly forgettable. Strangeglove is probably the best part of this movie. His VA is clearly having as much fun with this as possible. The message is blatantly obvious and generic (don't be a self absorbed jerk). Things are introduced or set up but never come back or are just ignored. For example, many things in this world are operated by whistling for some odd reason, and Katsuma can't whistle. The sets up a climax where he has to believe in himself, learn to whistle, and call for rescue or something, yet all the whistling is done by Mr Snoodle. Some of the world building is odd and confusing too, and many scenes only exist for one singular purpose (Sweet Tooth's scene is only in the movie to separate the group a bit more). Finally, the movie acts like an ensemble movie with all 6 monsters, yet Katsuma and Poppet are the only ones to contribute anything to the plot and the others only have one or two lines, only to get kidnapped anyway.
It's not absolutely awful and there's nothing bad for kids, but only watch this if you have to.
