Hijack (2023)
So Inaccurate
I was looking forward to this series. Unfortunately it's not that good. I work in the ATC sector in the UAE, and the inaccuracies are dire.
1. Dubai only controls local arrivals and departures. En-route flights are controlled from SZC in Abu Dhabi.
2. Playing solitaire on the display. No, they're mainly Linux based and everything done on the display is recorded should an investigation be required later.
3. The two lane highway shown in Dubai. Doesn't exist.
Why 7500 wasn't set on the transponder prior to opening the door is a mystery.
4. The request to use 103.52 To communicate with Bagdad? Aviation frequencies don't go below 118MHz.
When the ATC lady in the UK took her position, There should be a handover from the previous controller. Both are plugged in so the handover audio is recorded. This didn't happen. Surely, the writers could have consulted people in the field before churning out this crap.
There are many more holes in this, more than a Swiss cheese, but I couldn't be bothered to add them.
Breakout (2023)
Best advice, give it a miss.
This could have been a good movie, but it wasn't. It has all the usual formulae. Relative in distress, needs rescuing etc. Similar plot to Die Hard but without the suspense. In fact nothing really makes you associate with any of the characters as they're all pretty lack lustre. Even the main villain isn't that convincing. The whole plot has flaws and you don't really get to understand the reason for the breakout or who the people are who are doing it. Also at the end, why does the helicopter drop a rope ladder when it could just have landed? Many things in this movie make no sense. My advice, give it a miss.
Plane (2023)
Could be better
I enjoy action movies, and Gerard Butler is pretty good at those. Unfortunately, I work I the aviation industry and the flying parts are pure fiction. It would have been nice had they consulted a pilot or co-pilot as to the procedures, it would have been nice. My neighbour's a B787 captain, and he was laughing about the inaccuracies of the flying sequences.
The action scenes are quite good, and take you away from the poor research of earlier scenes. Then they resurrect the aircraft and fly it, complete with bulletproof tyres to an area of safety.
If you like an action movie, regardless of accuracy, then watch it.
If you work in aviation, this is almost as bad as Die Hard 2.
