Transporter: The Series (2012)
Bad ending
I love this series, I like the actors and the action. The stories are good and well acted. It is hard when a favorite actor is taken out of the plot, but that happens. I particularly like the way the transporter fights. All out and everything around him is fair game as a tool for defense or a weapon. His driving scenes are terrific too. High speed and just try to keep up with the ins and outs he goes through!
But! And this is a big but... the ending is horrible! I think they expected to continue for a next season and thought this would be a great cliff hanger ending. But there WAS no more! Not even an ending to the storyline of the last episode! I CAN forgive them, because , well, stuff happens, but I sure don't have to like it.
The Equalizer (2021)
Super bad ending
I loved the show, until the last episode when it ended with everyone "that close" to being dead. The only way to call and end to it is .... they all died. The end.
So I guess her daughter and aunt just go on together. At least her daughter got a heads up on some self defense. Not much to replace a mom with. ! would have given this a 12 out of ten if the ending wasn't such a cheat.
As for the series itself I liked it better than the original one, and that is saying a lot. The action was a bit extreme in places, but the writing and the acting were great. Dee and her great aunt were a good support for the series too. I always hoped Our enforcer would give in to the romantic efforts of the detective, but no go.
Ouija Warehouse (2021)
Unbelievable acting
Really you can watch all of it and you won't believe there was any acting at all. Lame all the way through. The only plot had to do with the ouija board and it didn't have anything to do with why they were there or what happened to them. A really wasted time. That isn't a one star rating, it is a minus one star rating.
Penelope (1966)
Very memorable
It has been more than 50 years since i saw this movie and it is still clear in my memory as a very entertaining and enjoyable movie. I am looking for it again because I just found out mu Mom hasn't seen it, and she just Has to! Any movie that leaves a great impression that lasts this many years is too good to miss out on. Watch it!
The Haunting of Margam Castle (2020)
Which came first?
Which came first, the bad writing or the bad directing? For sure once it started, there was no denying the bad acting. And with the discordance of the sound track that did nothing for the mood except knock you out of whatever feel you were trying to get for the movie. I have heard of a triple threat but a quadruple one? Do yourself a favor and find something else to do with your time. Like listen to a plant wilt or watch mildew grow. Anything would be better than this mess.
Riddler's Moon (1998)
Top quality!
A mysterious message being sent to a disabled youth, a family farm in dire straits, a mysterious malaise that is impacting a usually fertile farming community. The answer is surprising and very satisfying.
Good suspense and acting. This movie is a must see!
Don't Blink (2014)
Really keeps up the suspense
It keeps you going, wondering if anyone is going to get out, right up to the end... and nope I ain't telling! But... considering as soon as they got there, there was no one around, I would have wondered. Now, as it became evident that the place was taking them 1 by 1, i think my reaction would be to burn the place down, just so no-one else would fall into the trap. Grab, some blankets, maybe pile some wood outside to use, grab all the food i could and just burn it. However, I wasn't there... so.... Just a warning, don't go making reservations to some out of the way place on the Internet, and make sure you have lots of gas in reserve cans before you commit to going over a tank of gas to anywhere!
Interstellar (2014)
Satisfying SciFi
My mom watched this before me and said she just lost 3 hrs of her life that she will never get back. It took me a few days before i decided to take the plunge and give it a try. I am glad i did. It jumps back and forth from Earth to 'out there' and that may be off putting for some, but it was a necessary part of the plot. I liked the way it kept you guessing where this was going. Yes, it seemed to be lacking in spots, but you have to pay attention, because a lot of the 'extras' are a real part of the total story. Oh it is hard to talk about this without telling what happened! Okay.... part of the plot is purely about the psychological aspects of how the crew dealt with the whole situation. If you don't like that sort of stuff, then that part will be boring to you. The major part of it was the unraveling of the solution to saving the future of the human race. Starting from and ending with the main character's daughter. Those parts should more than satisfy you. Their very first mystery in their house was a part of the ending solution. So pay attention and watch as it all comes together at the end. If you like SciFi and puzzles, and a good ending. You will like this movie.
Helix (2014)
A rating for potential.
~~~ spoilers~~~ I managed to wade through half the first episode and found myself utterly uninterested in any of the characters. The story has possibilities, I'll give it that, but the script suffers from bad writers disease. The actors might try to do their best with what they are given, but the dialog and the actions that they take in the storyline are ludicrous. Much of what happened so far was predictable in the extreme, once i realized they were playing really stupid CDC investigators. Like the female scientist that tells about how reuses monkeys are used for diseases that can spread to other species, given that the disease they are looking into is not airborne, and that the monkeys are there somewhere being kept secret, this should clue her in that the monkey are probably part of the vector system. Then of course, once she finds one out of its cage, using no precautions at all, she tries to catch it without any apparent regard for the probable (and predictable) danger involved. That the investigators would be kept in the dark by those who knew what was going on, was also predictable. A conspiracy plot that doesn't start very well. I might find myself bored enough to try to finish the first episode but it doesn't bode well for continued watching.
August Rush (2007)
One of the best movies of it's type!
This is a fantastic movie! The acting is superb for all the characters.
You have to take it on it's own terms. It skips from 'present' to 'past' back and forth but it is very important to the movie to see how it plays. Pay special attention to the 'connections' that play between the characters. It is very well expressed. The boy says he can 'hear' his parents. Well it is apparent that the parents and the child ARE connected on a level that only the child seems to be aware of. But his awareness and the genius he expresses in musical form clearly shows that he is set apart from the rest of us.
Note with small spoiler: When the parents meet, there is a musician playing in the square below them... I believe that this is 'Wizard' that finds the boy 11 years later. At least the time line and the figure with the same hat he wears seems to be him. And with all the connections and coincidences going on in this movie, I wouldn't be surprised.
A must watch for anyone looking for a feel good movie!
