Blue Eye Samurai (2023)

Refreshing... Heavenly Good!

What a great show! Simple as that... The story, the characters and how they develop throughout the story, the scenarios, the animation, the takes... EVERYTHING. I started watching it as a background noise while working but had to stop to continue watching it while giving it the attention it deserves.

The main character has that energy and all it needs to be as great as it is. The supporting characters get entangled in a way that just flows along with what the story is telling us. Being able to see the blood, the fights, the hate and still having a main character that shows vulnerability and fear while combating her/his enemies.

I was surprised, and by all means, it is a very good show!

The Accident (2019)

Sadly, a bad, bad show!

Horrible acting. The show had potential to be good but it was let down. The grieving is forced. At times I thought it was a comedy show with the out of place interventions in many scenes. The story line was off, details forgotten and acting was weak.

From the start I did not like it but gave it chance because of the main actress. She has been part of great shows. Scenery is the only good thing I saw. The teenager that survived could have done better. The parents of her deceased friend were off in every scene. And the participation of the other actors were either unnecessary or badly done.

Sadly a bad, bad show!

Control Z (2020–2022)

One season was enough

Boring show. Really!

Each episode drags the show too much. The dilema, the back and forth, the whole in front of your eyes suspense is not well developed. It becomes slow and boring to the point you go from episode 1 to the last episode because nothing important happens in between.

In my opinion, one strong and solid season would have been enough.

Through My Window (2022)

Boring! Flat story! Terrible acting!

The book has material to create a good story line. From one scene to the next with no sense of continuity. The story feels empty and rushed.

Traumas, sex, family power, blah blah. More of the same. For real, the trailers were way better than the movie itself.

One star for the effort, I guess.

Raising Dion (2019–2022)

Could use better acting

Though the story is good and different for a children's show, there are some of those details that makes you feel there could have been more to it. And when I talk about details I refer to the acting. Specially the main two characters: Nicole and Dion.

I kinda expected the feelings of the mom-Don relationship to be much more real. Specially referring to the name of the show. There were parts that really annoyed me being overacted and not transmitting emotions. BUT the story has potential. More episodes to dig into where everything is really coming from and how it all develops. So, I go to bed hoping the director considers a few things for the second season. We'll see!

Black Panther (2018)

Not as expected

We planned the whole day just to go watch this movie. We had great expectations based on what many people were saying about the cultural influences it has. But no, it was not as expected. The characters felt forced into the story, the director forgot to give us some feelings about them to at least try to engage into their backgrounds and stories. The rituals part were not deep at all. No explanations about certain events; Whitaker's character was there because it had too. It seemed he represented part of the identity of the city but nothing was mentioned about it.

The African culture could have been beautifully represented by the music and Environments other than just the clothes and characters themselves.

As a whole, it is a movie to be entertained by during a Saturday afternoon while waiting for the party to start.

A Wrinkle in Time (2018)

Boring, too slow

I was excited to watch this movie. High expectations based on all the marketing given to it. It ended up being extremely boring, too slow. No action or great parts at all. The story starts and develops so slow and with nothing exciting to tell. There were moments (if not the entire movie) in which all the magic could be seen as fake and special effect only. The acting for the main character is bad. Very bad. I could tell it was too acted. Really, sad too see such a beautiful story brought too life to become so boring and say nothing at the end of it all.
