Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Was this a documentary?
Just watched this with my 11 year old and we absolutely loved it! Dinosaurs and more dinosaurs and the old team meets the new team oh my god so much fun! I didn't try and analyse anything or question anybody's motives. I strapped in and ate my chocolate pretzels and thank the lord that movies like this still get made!
End of Watch (2012)
Good watch
I liked the movie. Its not earth shattering but its enjoyable. Some of the action isn't the most realistic but the banter is good and it's an interesting place to patrol by the looks of it. Even got used to the wobbly camera quite quickly.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
I wanted to gouge my eyeballs out
Firstly I loved the first Matrix and really enjoyed the 2 sequels. While I didn't have sky high hopes for this one I thought it can't go too far wrong. It's is so bad, it's just a mess. The effects are poor a muddle of cgi, the story is just basically so thin and pointless, nothing is believable, the old lady general is just awful. Neo touching heads with the robot thing. It shows how good the first movie was. It was a hundred times better than this turd. I wish I'd left half way through like I was tempted to do and save wasting part of my life.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Oh dear, could have been great
Why are all streaming movies a bit naff? There are some good action scenes and the overall idea is good it's just badly done and not realistic in the way things happen. The main actors do a good job and the dialog is good but it isn't well put together. If I'd paid to see this in the cinema I would be furious and I'd never watch it again which is a shame because a lot is right with it.
Rocky IV (1985)
Just watched the directors cut 2021
I really enjoyed this movie, I don't know the 1985 version well so I can't compare the changes but it was great to go to the cinema and see a real Rocky film. It wasn't as cheesy as I expected and I thought the movie was well done with good highs and lows. I liked the fight scenes they looked realistic enough obviously nobody can take 15 rounds of massive punches but it's a movie not a documentary so I'd left my brain in the lobby anyway. I think Stallone is really underrated in all the things he does and I've enjoyed his work a lot in the last 10 years or so. It's not high brow but it is fun and that's what you need sometimes.
Dune (2021)
It's The King but in space
I loved it, proper sci fi all big and weird. It's slow but I like that, the build up and massive story to tell. I'm not happy about waiting for part 2 but that's life now with big movies. This is definitely a film to see in the cinema, I saw it this morning and I think I'll go back tomorrow and watch it again. I was joking about it being The King in space but it does have similarities! Go take your brain out and be in awe!
Sweetheart (2021)
Really enjoyable heartfelt film
I really enjoyed this film, the acting was good it was funny in the right places and it made my heart ache over lost love. I'm not sure the sexuality matters so much it's just love whatever your sex. Great film to get you thinking!
The Last Bus (2021)
Really beautiful film
I cried, it was a really beautiful film the acting was great the way the film was shot was really excellent as well. Its a small movie buts it really punched above its weight. It's a pity films like this don't get shown in the big cinemas because there is a place for a well told story amongst all the big budget stuff.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
What the?!
No idea why this film got made the way it did. Some really important points and opinions in the film and the history is fascinating. Not just the American side but the Vietnamese too and what was happening in America at the time also. Basically all that gets left to one side and is undermined by the really odd soulless story and the ultra gore towards the end. These guys life long buddies are blowing up and they don't hardly seem to blink. Grown up daughters are discovered and the guy just goes home and doesn't really do anything. This is my first Spike Lee movie so I'll give home the benefit of the doubt but this is an awful movie that could have been fantastic. I've given it a 4 because of the historical points it makes not for the really poor action movie it becomes.
Black Widow (2021)
Abysmal should have been re shot
My 11 year old fell asleep that tells you everything you need to know as he is a Marvel film fanatic. The film is really poor like a straight to Netflix movie. The story is weak after all the mystery of Black Widows back story it's just dull. The supporting cast is working on scraps and the Russian accents are particularly poor especially Ray Winstone who slips into cockney at least once. The special effects are blurry and so outlandish that the movie feels silly. This is by far the worst Marvel movie I've seen by a long way.
Army of the Dead (2021)
My kinda film
Awesome movie! Take your brain out for 2.5 hrs of crazy action! Yes it's dumb but so am I so we go together perfect. First decent Netflix film I've for a while too.
Mute (2018)
Not for everyone
I really enjoyed this film. I liked it's slow twists and turns and characters. It felt like an art film to me rather than a Hollywood blockbuster. It's set in the future but it's not a Sci fi film. In a lot of ways it's a revenge film. I didn't have any pre conceived ideas before I watched it and it wasn't at all what I expected. I enjoyed it and don't need to analyse everything about it. If you want sci fi I think you will be disappointed. A slow burning drama is more it's description.
The Last Days of American Crime (2020)
Didn't make any sense
Felt like it was 10 hours long and although some parts were good and the overall concept was good it's just rubbish. Things happen that are just not possible and it just ruins the film. I wise I hadn't watched it. The guy gets shot in the stomach point black by a shotgun, he would have a hole in him if that happened. Driving through a road block in a slow truck and nobody follows them. So many silly things happening.
Breach (2020)
This can't be really happening!
Within 60 seconds it's clear this is below par for a soap opera on tv never mind a movie with Bruce Willis . Watch this and everything you watch from now on will be better than for it! It looks like I had a go at making a movie.
Stowaway (2021)
I enjoyed it but it was silly
A made for TV movie used to be how these types of films were described. Made for streaming is the new way of describing them, you could and would not put this out in the cinema like most movies made for the streamers. I did enjoy it but it took a lot of ignoring really big inconsistencies. The way the stowaway was on the mission was poor. The algae dying wasn't explained. The space walk was really loose and dangerous. The small tank was meant to be enough air for 2 years. They didn't tie the tank to anything. The solar storm was due to last for hours but Zoe went out to die when she could have waited a few hours and gone. I took my brain out to watch this and new it wasn't going to be amazing, if you can overlook the silliness then the acting and everything else about the film is good.
