Fall (I) (2022)
7/10
Budget vs vision vs story and it almost works
7 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Watched it to the end, the movie idea is new, the execution is at most OK, the casting is great, the visual effects make you feel like you are up there with them.

Perhaps part of the tension, if it was me, I would have used the rope to secure us both to the structure and sleep without the fear of a "fall"

I worked out an alternative solution early on which the film, which, almost played out, the ending was like they ran out of money and had to wrap it up early. So, I was left disappointed.

Spoiler alert, did the blonde fall or was she pushed? ...............................................................

Please now watch Michael Jackson - Chase the truth
27 December 2019
I watched Leaving Neverland when it first aired and it is a compelling and damming documentary about MJ, it left me feeling that he was guilty of the abuse claims. I have now watched Chase the truth which shows life time friends, his personal bodyguard and a journalist who put into question the stories being made against him and present facts that actually blow them out of the water. So if like me you have seen Leaving Neverland, I urge you to go and check out Chase the truth as it rebalances things. I still do not know for sure if MJ was evil, but at least now I can go back to enjoying his talent.

Life moves on for all of us including Woody
16 September 2019
Sorry that everyone seems to hate on this film in the reviews, all I can say is go and watch the first three again. it's a cartoon with an adult meaning, it's a love story and shows that there is hope for us all out there. OK, woody forgiving the girl to rip out his voice box and so on, is on a cold hardened real life review is very anti women, but other than that, its a tear fest.

Good film, Pity they killed a classic Ferrari Testarossa
8 July 2019
Not much to say here other than the film is watchable, Sandler tries to be funny and 99% fails as per usual, he made me laugh once in the entire 1.4 hours, Anniston carries him through this. So I am left feeling how many classic Ferrari's did they smash up to make this? I know they probably had a kit car or two or used CGI, but if they killed a Testarossa in making this disposable flick, what a waste.

About Time (I) (2013)

Its now 2017 and its still an OK film, loved it when it first aired
30 August 2017
So I watched this when it first aired and I loved it, I was besotted with the notebook girl with her red lipstick (I am male by the way). I also appreciate Bill Neihey sic in a Love actually sort of way and this film worked well on release, its a new Notting Hill. Jeez even the awkward ginger kid sounds like Hugh Grant. But now in 2017 and seeing it a second time, have I simply been lost in time, have I got old and grumpy? or has the 4 years dated the flick?

Call me shallow but Margot Robbie as awful as she is as predicted would have stolen me at the, walk me to my room moment, I am not one to stray but for her I would regardless. This and the massive plot holes led me to switch off and do something less boring instead, enough said ;0)

The Mummy (2017)

Tired of Tom Cruise using CGI on his face
19 July 2017
The film is watchable, think Indiana Jones meets the X men and there you have it, its all been done before. Tom Cruise running towards you as things explode around him or roll over the top of him, i.e. war of the worlds, etc, etc....

The big things for me is that his face changes constantly during the film, one minute fuller and the next thin, his teeth go from normal to super white, it just leaves you feeling cold, like he has insisted that the CGI people retouch everything and it's super annoying and not the first time I have noticed it in his recent films. Tom needs to grow old gracefully otherwise it's like watching a video game, fake and simply unbelievable.

Lastly the mummy is awkwardly really hot, her four irises would be enough to have me entranced and the rest of her is super hot. Is it wrong to fancy a mummy?

Blade Runner meets Mirrors Edge
10 July 2017
No Spoiler review

So I have no back history with this genre so I can only review it as a stand alone movie and I actually enjoyed it, the film is well produced and the special effects are in the next league. The actor's are well chosen and perform well.

As per the title of my review, it feels a little like a 2017 homage to Blade Runner, style wise it is heavily influenced and did we actually know if Harrison Ford was a Cyborg Cop? If you are also familiar with Mirrors Edge the game, you will also see it in the movie ( I can't say more as it will be a spoiler).

Scarlett Johansson seems to have turned into a modern day Nicholas Cage, picking roles that make her either super intelligent or having super powers, her ego is getting a little thin on me now and I am no longer lusting over her as I once did.

Minor gripe aside, its worth a watch, it's in the same league as her film Lucy, watch it once, nod your head once in appreciation and not plan to watch it a second time. Hope this has been helpful.

When the writer wins over what the film delivers
8 June 2017
Don't get me wrong, I love all of the FATF films, even Tokyo drift and I tried to like this one as well, perhaps with time it may grow on me as Tokyo Drift had to. In reality the story/ plot is great. The realism is however woeful. It's therefore a Marmite flick, if you can zone out and watch the moving wallpaper its fun, exciting and fabulous. If not, you will see so many flaws you end up just in a face palm as I did.

Strange and unexplained
18 May 2017
You have to watch this to understand what I mean, it's very odd, almost like it's trying to be a mixture of marvel films and some strong domestic violence/drunk stuff. I still cant work out if Anne was the wife of the bar owner...

In any case, if you wish to sit and watch a film for 90 minutes and end up with the only thought of, gosh are those tatt's on Anne's fingers and wrist real, then go ahead and enjoy the ride. Otherwise it's one for the 99p DVD store.

Worth watching
20 March 2017
I can see why this film did note score well as it has lots of fall downs, but as a film its worth watching. If you accept the fact its all been done before and it panders to both cage and Johnson's ego's you will enjoy it, the daughter and mother will make you smile, chuckle and cry, cry a lot. Cage is trying to stay relevant in films but is still acting like its 2000. Don Johnson, 1991, love them both as icons. Once you admit that this is a Nick Cage produced film and enjoy it as a story, it actually is a good film.
