Am I Being Unreasonable? (2022)
Laughed out Loud, literally ..excellent.
Wasn't sure what to expect with this, but quickly warmed to it. Daisy May Cooper was on top form. Ended up binge watching all 6 episodes in one hit as I wanted to see what happened next, I literally laughed out loud in every episode at various points. Special mention must go to child actor Lenny Rush as little Ollie, right from the get go he shone with his quick retorts and rapport with Daisy. Future star in the making. Dustin Burns was brilliant as the dad. Comedy and drama is a tricky thing to get right, I rated this 10 out of 10. Lots of nice little twists and some top notch comedy. Love it.
The Outlaws (2021)
laugh out loud.
I can't rate this highly enough, superb tv, I laughed out loud so many times I lost count, it's not an all out comedy, there are some genuinely heartfelt and emotional scenes. The script and plot are excellent, .. how the heck did Mr Merchant wangle an A list Hollywood actor in Christopher Walken?
Just started watching the first 5 mins of Ep2 .. omg, the prostitute scene... lolol. ( no spoiler)
Well done to all concerned.
Babs (2017)
RIP BARBARA.. You will be missed.
Watching it now, ... very impressed with the young girl playing her .. don't know who she is but she's got Barbara Windsors cheeky smile. Yes, it's a bit cheesy in places, but it's an excellent tribute to a National treasure. Sleep well Babs x
This Country (2017)
excellent stuff
Loved this series, hope they get the nod to make another 6 episodes. I was a little unsure after the first 10 minutes of episode 1, being new to the characters I instantly noticed a striking similarity between Kurten and Gareth Keenan from The Office which I found a little alarming, but as I became more familiar with the show, it gradually grew on me. One of the unsung hero's of this program is the unseen mum of Kerry Mucklowe, all you hear is the strains of the mother coming from her bedroom shouting at her daughter..and in one episode, a Playstation comes flying out of the window. It's a big shame that this series didn't get a much wider audience , I only happened to hear about it via an interview with the main actor/writer Daisy May Cooper on my local BBC news show 'Points West', it definitely deserves a 2nd showing on BBC2 at a much more reasonable time than the 11:30 BBC1 slot it was getting after Match of the Day on Saturday night. This show is a little gem.
Never Better (2008)
excellent stuff..
This is wonderful thursday night half hour comedy, Stephen Mangan is brilliant as Keith, a recovering alcoholic, currently being shown on BBC2 at 10pm. Just finished watching episode 3 ( god) .. very well structured plots, i love the scenes in the AA meetings with Christopher Fairbank ( Moxy from Auf Weidersein Pet) as the group leader. Tonights episode had a very funny scene when a pretty woman was talking to the group, and she caught Keith looking at her cleavage. Magnans scenes with his wife ( Kate Ashfield)are excellently portrayed. Fintan Ryan who wrote this show can be well pleased, its perfect sit on the sofa with a glass of wine comedy. Cant wait for the next 3 episodes, and hopefully another series. Well done to all concerned. I loved it.
The Sundowners (1960)
Ruddy good film!!
Whoopie, BBC2 are showing "The Sundowners" .. i've seen this film so many times over the years ( I'm 48 now) .. It's a great matinée film for a Sunday afternoon, either this or FA Cup football..( Salisbury v Nottingham Forest) .. think i'll plump for Sundowners ,this film has such a cozy feel good atmosphere to it. Ustinov ,Mitcham,Kerr, and that little lad all give excellent performances. ..Ahhh memories!! i remember 1st seeing this film when i was about 8, kneeling in front of the black and white telly, Mum in the kitchen making us a Sunday roast, ( I'm having to pad this film description out as IMDb require at least 10 lines before they'll accept it) .. anyhoo, as i was saying, Mum cooking the Sunday roast, the smell of gravy wafting through into the living room, my brother playing with buttons on the floor ( he liked buttons, don't ask!). Anyhoo, hopefully this should be enough for now, bloody good film.
Sin City (2005)
Sin City in High Definition !!!
Just watched this film in High Definition and it was simply STUNNING!!, I've had my HD telly for about 3 months now, and this has to be the best thing I've watched so far in HD. You can see every bead of sweat on the characters faces, it brings the movie right into your living room. The bulk of the movie is in black and white but this does'nt lessen the high definition effect, in fact it sharpens it up even more. If your lucky enough to have HD, watch this film for the ultimate cinematic experience!!! Jaw dropping stuff!!. Damn, just been told by IMDb my review needs more words in order to show it. What more can i say, .. Mickey Rourke is amazing in this film! ..One thing i will say, i was'nt that impressed with Clive Owen's American accent, but that's a minor blip. Bad luck on you Yanks for last weeks Ryder Cup defeat, maybe you need to incorparate the Rest of the world in your team to have a chance of beating us.. Els and co will even things up a bit. Cant wait for Vallhalla in 2 years time. Sorry for changing the subject, just bulking up my review.
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)
wondrous film, for all the family
Took my little 5 year old to see it today, what a wondrous film, its a great sound to hear a packed cinema laugh out loud, especially the kids, they loved it. I loved the expressions on Gromits face, the whole movie was a treat, now i need to find an excuse to take my neighbours kids ... gotta see this again!! There were loads of adult jokes contained within the film that went over the kids heads, no doubt they will get these when they watch the film again in 10 years or so on DVD. I thought that i would not enjoy the movie as much as i did. Take the time and effort to see this film , it's a classic!! I hear it is currently number 1 in the US box office, I'm delighted that the American audiences have taken this film to there hearts.
