The worst I've seen in a long time
6 January 2023
Not sure what to say but this series is definitely worse than it's 7ish rating. In the 1980ies or 1990ies it could have been called average but we've come a long way since then, nowadays this combination of an illogical story with many plot holes, lack of character development, bad acting, bad VX, and pacing which is clearly made for regular TV slots with advertisement breaks and not streaming feels completely outdated and like a waste of time. Maybe it's worth watching it if you liked the books. I have never read them and certainly will not after having seen this because I fear that it might be the same waste of time as watching this.

Plothole after plothole after plothole
7 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry, but there are more holes in the plot than in a piece of Swiss cheese. How do people constantly survive being stabbed by lightsabers, why is there never a coup de grace to finish of the enemy, how does and injured Reva take herself from one planet to the next in a short moment, why is there no armada of tie fighters attacking the fleeing ship? Questions, over questions, over questions...for sure the worst series I've seen in ages.

And yeah, the CGI also really sucks.

Trying too hard
29 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Mostly good acting, nice visuals, some interesting characters and a plot with some potential. Yet I have the feeling that things get too convoluted, that they are trying too hard with the story and some of the characters. Serial killer and conspiracies, every main character has a dark secret, the police are corrupt...it's just too much. There is something new around every corner and that's not how how good storytelling works in a mini-series, where you actually have time for plot development. As it is the cast of characters and the events are just a touch too artificial for my liking, a certain level of normality which would make the story more believable is missing.

The weirdness of the characters and events is entertaining at first...
22 April 2020
...but soon wears off. To be honest after a while I just continued to watch it because I wanted to see how it ends, it wasn't really that entertaining anymore. What also leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth is that a large part of the appeal of the series is based on the fact that you don't really know how much of what is being said by the different characters is true or not, and then when you dig a little bit deeper you also start to wonder where and when the filmmakers are maybe not telling the whole story anymore. In my opinion definitely not worth to be called a documentary. Still, as mentioned in the beginning, it's difficult to stop watching once you started, in that regard it is much like a bag of chips: the first couple of hands you grab seem to be delicious, after a while you are not continuing because it tastes good but because it's just the right combination of fat, carbs and salt to please a prehistoric part of your brain, and after you finished emptying the whole bag, you pretty quickly realize that the whole experience just wasn't worth it.
