Hustlers (2019)
Surprisingly good
Went into watching this movie thinking it was going to be horribly bad but I turned it on as background noise and actually really really enjoyed it.
Visually fun to look at with the lights and the gorgeous actresses. But it was the story in itself that made me continue watching. I found it almost relatable as a women. If you're lower class or even middle class nowadays everyone knows how hard it is to get a leg up in the world. I personally wouldn't do what these ladies did but I get it. And honestly I found myself cheering them on. F those rich P. O. S scumbags. They reap what they sew. Overall I thought it was a great movie, not a 10 but honestly much better than I expected. Funny, thought provoking, and sad. Give it a go!
The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping (2024)
Heartbreaking and Eye Opening
This documentary is extremely hard for me to watch.
I have never been in a program myself but my younger sister who has had behavioral issues her entire life was sent to one when I was 18, she was 14 or 15 at the time.
She went in to Willow Springs In Nevada for about 3-4 months. I lived in California at the time and was not allowed to know the specifics of the facility, only that it was in Nevada. My mom hid it from me and my older sister until she was out because she didn't want us visiting her. Now I am not saying that willow springs is anything like Ivy Ridge but my sister has always had a special hate towards my mom ever since then.
I haven't had a relationship with my sister much since then either and now I feel like I need to throw up...and also call my sister and take her to lunch.
I remember thinking my sister needed this program to help her, because that's what my mother told me.
Now after watching I realized my mother was just as brainwashed as those poor kids in the documentary.
Wish I could thank the maker for opening my eyes to the cruelty of these places.
Shrinking (2023)
They're all "shrinking" eachother
Some of these reviews are missing the point.
The show is not about therapists shrinking their patients but about all the characters "shrinking" each other.
They all have their own issues and are all comfortable talking to each other about them.
I love the dynamic. I love the characters. I love the comedy, and the bond all the characters have with each other. It's a very comforting show to me.
My husband has Parkinson's and it's interesting to see how shows portray the disease. This might be my new favorite show. Can't wait for more. I plan to tell all my family and friends to watch it cuz it's great.
A Murder at the End of the World (2023)
Murder mystery meets love story
I wanted to wait until the show had fully concluded to give my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this show. It had everything I enjoy in a show. Mystery, romance, drama.
But after i don't know the 4th episode I kinda had a feeling how it would end and I was correct which kinda took the surprise mystery ending out of it.
Overall I still definitely enjoyed watching it but I was less excited for each episode.
I am glad it's just a mini series and nothing more because everything that needed to be said was said.
I definitely think it's worth the watch and I will continue to recommend it to people even though it's semi predictable. Good show.
