The Bear: Fishes (2023)
Triggered, yet astonished. This was excellent.
I've never been easily able to explain why I hate Christmas. Now, I have video evidence.
I get why people say things about this ep. Like 'It's just over the top yelling' 'it's way too much' 'what a headache!'. It really is, but Darling, I think the point might be to make you feel that way.
It was raw and real from the minute Michael and Sug say to Carmy "You got Mom, ok?". The yelling, the better off Cousins using the Lesser Offs as play toys. The getting too drunk and saying what you shouldn't, the unwanted opinions and advice, the repeated freaking story!!!! The chaos and trauma of it all was so well depicted.
Jamie-Lee Curtis, just wow. It's episodes like this that will continue to propel television as the best story telling medium.
This is also a flashback episode that is a story worth telling unto itself, rather than just some mid season filler to bolster the protagonist which is great to see.
Bravo to all involved.

Tone deaf
This whole movie just feels kinda yuck and has no plot. It glorifies violence against women in that gaslighty kinda way. Like it's ok if you kidnap and assault a woman if you're hot and then buy them nice stuff, they'll definitely fall in love with you and your p*nis? I get that it's meant to be erotica, no problem there. But this isn't a good look, it's not cool. Read the room ppl. You can't have the Jeffery Epstein doco sitting right next to this "gem" of a movie on Netflix. Tone deaf.
Gets 1 point for nice scenery.
New Amsterdam (2018)
I'm not crying, you're crying...
Good hospital drama about public hospitals and the people in them doing their jobs, not crazy love triangles and crap like most. Well, not much anyway. When you think you've predicted what's going to happen, you are pleasantly surprised when thing unpan differently.
Every episode's humanity makes you cry. I mean I'm not crying, my eyeballs are sweating.
Good TV and strangely addictive. Recommend a watch.
True History of the Kelly Gang (2019)
Bizarre but entertaining interpretation.
Takes a classic bit of Aussie history/fable and writes a new version with some similarities. Entertaining enough and rather poetic. Shot well, but quite up and down in terms of performances, altogether okay.
If you're looking for a Hollywood blockbuster version of Ned Kelly's story, this isn't it!
Likely to frustrate the hell out of anyone that reveres Ned Kelly and the story as told, which greatly amuses me and adds to this movie's charm. Overall quite good.
The I-Land (2019)
This could possibly be the worst show ever.
I lasted until Ep 1, 20mins 42 sec.
Could be this the worst show ever? So bad its not even bad enough to have a possible future cult following.
Poor script, no dynamics with tension and suspense, random AF. No charaters you actually like.
I feel for anyone involved in this project.
John Leguizamo's Road to Broadway (2018)
Just brilliant!
Comedy x history kesson x dance x ted talk x suspense. Loved it. What a talent.
What Would Diplo Do? (2017)
Mad Decent
A really funny kinda different style of mockumentary. James Van der Beek and cast are ace. A really easy watch, with tonnes of good one liners.
