Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Entertaining, but not Jurassic anything really
I've been sitting here, trying to figure out where to even begin. I don't normally write reviews but this one really got to me. I went on opening night and purchased the collector tub and cup featuring Blue & Beta. I guess I should start with the fact the I kinda feel like I got the ol' bait and switch. Putting everyone's favorite raptors on there like they have lots of screen time when they don't. Owen and Blue's bond was barely touched on. Hell, this doesn't even feel like a Jurassic Park/World movie really. The acting was stiff, even from some of the veterans. The CGI was...off? I'm not sure how to even describe that. And there are so many holes in the plot that I got confused bc nothing really made any sense.
I guess I'll just start going through some of the things that didn't add up for me..
The pilot helping.. why? There was nothing remarkable about Kayla seeing Maisie during the trade off. No words spoken, not something similar happening to her or a love one, nothing. It made no sense that a pilot for hire would do anything for strangers, for free.
The locusts. I know the scientists stated that they were more hardy but that hardly constitutes that a swarm of locusts could survive AND FLY while burning, for the amount of time that they did. Their wings would've been the first thing to burn up but in the movie they fly around long enough to escape a building and fly around to set miles of forest ablaze. Ye...no.
While we're talking about burning locusts, when Malcolm threw the spear into the mouth of the Giganotosaurus and it... exploded, making him look like he could breathe fire. That's not how that works.. Just no.
T-Rex/Therizinosaurus vs Giganotosaurus. I think this made me the most upset. There was no explanation about the long clawed, seemingly blind dinosaur that pops up and seems intent on disemboweling everything. And the fact that it seemed to form a pact with the T-Rex makes no sense. There was no bond like with the T-Rex and Blue and the fight seemed pointless in general. And why wouldn't the Therizinosaurus not attack Rex after?
It's like they knew they had this super flimsy plot and decided to fill it full of JP nostalgia and lots of pointless action to keep us distracted. This wasn't a JP or JW movie, it was an action flick with dinosaurs thrown into it. So I mean, entertaining for sure but a very big flop for me.
The Wilds (2020)
Really enjoyed it, despite the predictable plot
Happy to see that the dramatic negative reviews didn't ruin the overall rating. I binged this in a day and thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot has a lot of holes, I found myself picking apart some acting as well as a lot things about their survival. I'm 31, I still thought it was good. I liked certain characters, dislikes others and had my opinion change as the show progressed..I think that's a big part of a good show. Worth watching. And I'm hoping for a season 2 since they really leave you hanging.
The Innocents (2018)
Overall, not bad.
This isn't the greatest show I've ever watched, but it's also no where near the worst either. I'm on the last episode and can honestly say that I'm not sorry that I've spent the day watching it.
I loved the music, the characters are likeable, and the show has a certain charm that draws you in.
