Rolling Thunder (1996)
Pretty typical, but still worth the watch
This "Movie" is about 11 years old, but still pretty good if you're not looking for award winning acting or special effects. It was a TV pilot that no one picked up, so they most likely could have done better had they gone to the silver screen instead. Their budgets are usually a bit better, which may have improved the dialog and special effects if nothing else. The script is pretty cheesy for the most part, but looking back at a lot of the mid 90's TV shows, cheesy was in. Hell, it was in before that and it's still pretty dag gum popular today as well. The non lethal, anti terrorist tactics to catch the bad guys puts a different spin on an otherwise typical movie. For me, it is most comparable with the 80's TV series, The A-Team, but with better actors. Plus - a bonus in the form of Krista Allen, who has a small (albeit completely irrelevant) part and that's always a good thing. All in all, given the fact that it was made for TV, I gave this project a 6. It had a lot of potential, but it just didn't make the cut in the eyes of the TV exec's. Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong.

Serenity (2005)
From TV to the Silver Screen
Based on a TV series called Firefly, I'm not sure what it is about this movie. I can't quite put my finger on it. All I know is I love it. I'm not even sure if it's a B movie or not. Regardless, the special effects are phenomenal. The acting is phenomenal. The story is phenomenal. It's been a long time since I came across a movie on cable that I missed in the theater which I absolutely fell in love with. There are several people in this film that you may recognize (Alan Tudyk, Ron Glass, Chiwetel Ejiofor) from other projects, but the only true Hollywood notable is Adam Baldwin, and because of that, the characters are extremely believable. Personally, I gave this film a 10 for originality and quality. Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong.

The Wicker Man (2006)
Run away, run away as fast as you can
This is supposed to be an "A" movie, but I've seen "B" movies with better acting and scripts. Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot of movies. If it were possible to give this movie a negative vote, I would. I have never walked out on a movie, but this one had me edging towards the door. Just bad bad bad. Cage has never shown me to be a great actor, but he's been at least watchable. In WTC, he put forth a remarkable effort. For Wicker Man, I can't even say he mailed it in. If it hadn't been his face on the screen, I'd have never believed it was him. If you must throw away your money to see this, save the couple hours out of your life and send me the rental fee instead. Trust me, you'll thank me later. Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong
