Insatiable (2018)
Love this series!!!
LOVED this show! Loved every single person in the cast - great acting - loved the writing, loved the absurdity, loved the dark humor. Loved the treatment of overeating. Watched 2 seasons in about 2 days. The only thing I didn't like was that Netflix cancelled it!!!!!!!!! Where is season 3?!!!!! I NEED season 3!!!!
Ghostland (2018)
Trash
Whatever lame plot or 'atmospheric' filmingπ was attempted - (none of it very good) it was really just a front for making a film about beating up women. I'm sooo tired of that - use a little imagination and storytelling and make a horror movie that doesn't have to show violence against women as your only theme. ππ½ On misogynistic writers and directors.
Promising Young Woman (2020)
Disappointing
What seemed like it would be a strong woman taking charge and looking at rape culture in a new way turned out to be another movie that punishes strong women by killing them in the end and making jokes about it.
I would have felt better if Cassie had actually carved Nina's name into Al's chest instead of him breaking free of his handcuff π and overpowering her. Seemed like it took him a long time to smother her with a pillow without ever thinking maybe he should stop - because after all he was 'only' a rapist, not a killer π.
And as for the 'justice' π at the end of the movie - we all know when good ole boys get arrested for violence against women they 'go to jail for a long time π'
Run (2020)
Well they got the title right
Omg - this was so bad, predictable, ridiculous, and boring. You know everything that is going to happen within the 1st 10 minutes. And anything after that you don't really care about. I probably fastfordwarded though at least 30-45 minutes and didn't miss a thing. Don't waste your time.
Hereditary (2018)
Creepy Creepy Creepy - Stupid Stupid Stupid - Spoilers
Spoilers
They have you wondering for awhile (like The Babbadook) is this supernatural or is the 'craziness' that's hereditary? Let me just say that the latter would have been a better way to go.
For the size of the role he had Gabriel Byrne might as well not have been in it. Love him, but his part was pretty short and meaningless. Toni Collette started off good crazy, but ended up just being ridiculous. Not her acting, but how the character was written. So many holes in the story it hurts my brain to try to see any connection of what happens through the first half of the movie to how it ends.
So they turn the son into Jughead at the end and treat him like Rosemary's baby? "Hail paimon" And all the creepy stuff thru out the movie was just ridiculously random. They should have had him reading Archie comics that would have made more sense
Godless (2017)
What was this series even about
Way too long and uninteresting. Characters were all so unlikeable I didn't even care when whitey got killed. And why is Roy a hero? If he would have just given Frank back the money he could have been a real hero and all those people would still be alive.
And that long long drawn out ending of Roy riding into the sunset could have been directly taken from s lifetime movie.
Los sin nombre (1999)
Subtitles vs. dubbed version
I saw this movie several years ago with subtitles. It's a very dark and uncomfortable movie. I don't know that I loved it, but it was definitely interesting. However, I just watched it again and instead of subtitles, they dubbed the voices. OMG, it just ruins the whole movie. Shouldn't they be better at this by now?! It was like watching the old Japanese horror movies, like Mothra or Godzilla or Godzilla vs. Mothra (which BTW are campy fun). The dubbing was sooo bad that it was laughable. If you really hated this and were watching the dubbed version, you might want to try again with sub titles.
Living in Fear (2001)
Gee wonder if I can figure out who did it
Look, I watch a lot of Lifetime movies, but this one was sad even for Lifetime. Characters and story line are very one dimensional. Seen this story a million times.
Marcia Cross and William Moses aren't bad actors, Moses has made a nice career out of TV movies, (not that there's anything wrong with that) but the rest were meh. John Saxon got top billing - I think I saw him in there somewhere. Story was very predictable and very corny in places
SPOILER - Art's death scene was laughable and Stuart's shooting and quick recovery to save the day was - big surprise - predictable. My favorite was the 'touching' voice-over of John Saxon talking about how proud he is of his son πππ
