Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020)
Very biased in favor of Turkish
I figured that this show would paint the Ottomans as saints and Vlad as the evil, cruel one. The historians were fair and accurate to both sides but the portrayal was HORRIBLY biased. Vlad was justified in his actions against the Ottoman Empire after being raped and tortured by them for years when he didn't comply with them as a political hostage. Vlad and Mehmet were not known to be close, quite the opposite. I just cannot stress enough how inaccurate and biased the portrayal was. I expected it being from a Turkish film maker and crew but was hoping to be happily surprised. I was not. If you studied the history of these two as I have for the past twenty years, you will be frustrated to listen to great historians while simultaneously watching a completely inaccurate portrayal. This isn't on the actors, they were all extremely talented, it's on the writers.
Persuasion (2022)
Destroyed Jane Austen's book- Watch BBC version instead
If I wanted to watch Jo March, I'd watch Little Women, not Persuasion. Ann Elliott is an incredibly strong yet calm and collected woman. Turning her into a modernized irritating teenager who doesn't grasp how much she hurt Frederick, expecting him to "just love her already!!", is honestly a slap in the face to what Jane Austen so intricately created. Ann knows what she did and she is so cautious and considerate around Frederick throughout the book until he heals enough to trust her again. Once he does, she grasps that opportunity with humility and depth. I honestly didn't even get 30min in before I was so pissed off that I had to turn it off. If you want to watch a fantastic adaption, Sally Hawkins nailed it in the BBC version. The whole cast in that version absolutely nailed it. The director captured that heartbreak between Ann and Frederick perfectly. Watch that version, not this one.
Stan & Ollie (2018)
Beautifully Done!
I grew up a huge Laurel & Hardy fan. I have seen all of their movies and just have a passion for their work. Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly did a phenomenal job portraying these two, down to their eye movement, body language, even the tone and sound of their voices. Being a big fan of their individual work, I didn't see them at all in this film; I just saw Stan and Oliver. Emotionally I am just touched by the work they've done in the film and it genuinely brought me to tears. The relationship between Stan and Babe was so strong, it saddens me that they aren't buried near one another in the same cemetery. I know, they're both in LA but, I wish they could have at least been near one another in death. May the comedy of Laurel & Hardy never be forgotten.
A Mother's Son (2012)
Obvious story, obvious outcome
British dramas are usually full of twists and turns that really keep you guessing until the end. This wasn't that at all. You knew the whole time and there was no curveball. Really disappointing. Gave it a 5 because the cast is wonderful but the story was just too obvious.
And Just Like That... (2021)
WOKE & VULGAR
They took a great show and two great films about four women coming into their own and turned it trashy, uncouth, vulgar, vile, woke, and completely unwatchable. I didn't even last 30min of this and I've been a huge fan since the beginning. If they ever try to come up with another one, it'll tank because no one will watch It after seeing what they did in this one. Kim dodged a bullet.
Keeping Faith (2017)

My Life in Ruins (2009)
Such a gem!
This movie is sweet, funny, and special. They took a simple storyline and made it hilarious with unique characters and a great cast.
Shetland (2013)
Excellent!
One of the most well-written shows I've watched. Excellent acting and fantastic plots.
