Red Riding Hood (2011)
Very Surprised! A Very Good Movie
Prior to watching the movie I had little expectations due to the bad reviews, and the fact I do not like Amanda Seyfried. However this movie had me hooked right from the start all the way till the very end. The plot was very good and I love how it was refreshingly different from the fairy tales we heard about little red riding hood when we were kids. I literally had guessed 3 characters to be the werewolves however it turned out to be none of them. The characters were perfectly cast with mentions going out to Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Gary Oldman and Billy Burke all gave amazing performances and were perfect for their given roles. This movie is a must watch as it was really good, and a very good romantic movie as well without even trying to class itself as a romance flick. Go watch it
Drive Angry (2011)
Was I watching Bollywood?
I really wanted to watch this movie as I had waited a while. The title just felt like a movie I would enjoy...man was I disappointed. This movie had literally no script, awful acting from Nicholas Cage and horrible nonsense graphics. I usually watch many movies regardless of language whether it be English, french, Indian, German, etc but this movie reminded me of a couple of Bollywood movies I watched which had the same main actor in all those movies. His name is Akshay Kumar check out his movies and you will see the exact point I am trying to make. So if anybody loves having a hydrogen tank on a truck driven by a guy causing mayham and who is able to walk out of the truck while it is crashing and stand on another car without a slight hitch then check out Akshay Kumar movies because they are performed better. Expect a lot of sex, nudity and bullshit. Prior to watching this movie I suggest you leave your brains completely out of the room. I give it a 4 out of 10
Remember Me (2010)
Great Story about Relationships
I had very little expectations prior to walking into the theatres. I had watched Robert Pattinson in the Twilight series but knew his acting potential wasn't unleashed. To state that Pattison dominated the movie would be an understatement. Each scene he was in, he towered over his cast members. Two scenes that definitely stand out, are 1) Verbal confrontation with his father, after which he did not show up to his daughter's art exhibition. 2) Takes action when his sister's classmates make fun of her.
The movie overall was very well directed, with great acting from the cast especially the Pattinson's father and sister in the movie. Emotional scenes were well done especially between Pattinson and his sister. You could literally feel as if that bond between them was real.
The only negatives is that I had wished for a stronger and more dramatic ending even had it been cliché. Also the romantic track between the lead pair did not get enough scope. Overall a great movie and would definitely watch it at least one more time. Give it a 7.9/10
The Marine 2 (2009)
Good Action makes this movie watchable!
I didn't expect much when I was given this movie to watch since it was a WWE movie. But I did have some optimism since Ted Dibiease was the main actor as he has shown he is a great actor in the WWE ring. I did not get to watch the original Marine but I believe the stories are not related and that it is just a sequel in the sense that it is about another particular Marine.
Well now to the movie, it started off with a bang and it made me glued to the screen thinking good things will continue to happen in this movie. Unfortunately the movie slowly dipped down due to the long time it took for the story to pick up the pace after the beautiful intro. But post-interval the movie picked up to its action roots, and the action looked believable which is a rarity in movies these days. Dibiease was able to showcase his acting talents through facial expressions as he did not have many lines that a main actor would.
Had the directer been better able to tighten the plot and the writers been able to write better dialogue preferably for Joe (Ted Dibiease) the movie would have done much better since it had good action and a decent story albeit some loopholes.
If you are interested in watching a good action movie to entertain you then I suggest you go rent this or buy it. If your interested in something with a great story with powerful dialogues then you may wanna give it a miss. I give this movie a 6.8/10.
Salaam-E-Ishq (2007)
Above Average
I am writing this for viewers with a western mindset who do not understand Hindi but read the subtitles while watching it. Salaam-E-Ishq has a huge star cast and my 1st assumption was that it will not work because everyone must be on the same page which I did not think would happen. So that meant I thought this movie would be average at best with some good moments due to the star power.
The Good Stories- Had some great stories such as the Govinda-Shannon, John-Vidya and average stories such as Akshaye-Ayesha and Sohail-Isha and Anil-Juhi that kept the interests alive. The Anil-Juhi story could have been so much better but I am not sure why there was something missing, Sohail-Isha story was just hilarious many in attendance were laughing their ass off whenever they appeared on screen because of there unsuccessful attempts at sexual intercourse. The Akshaye-Ayesha pair was pretty good but also could have been much better had Ayesha performed well and had a more impactive presence. The John-Vidya track was awesome and they pretty much carried the first half of the movie and had good acting from John trying to get Vidya to remember who he was because of her amnesia. The Govinda-Shannon track I have no words to explain. Everyone was laughing like crazy and had a funny story of a rickshaw driver with an English women and both of them trying to communicate with each other.
Music- The music was pretty good with probably 1 song that should have been deleted which dragged the movie a bit. Most of the songs were linked with the story and my favorite song was the Babauji (Dear Sir.) which had Anjali dancing with Anil Kapoor watching.
The Bad Lenght- The movie was way too long. I probably yawned twice in the movie and when it hit intermission a lot of people were laughing that they thought it was about to end but just hit intermission stage. The movie lasts about 3 hours and 45 minutes. So be patient!
Salman/Priyanka- Salman-Priyanka story should have just been ousted and just dragged the movie at a sluggish pace. There is no reason why Salman fell in love with Priyanka and why Priyanka all of a sudden falls in love with Salman. It seemed as though Priyanka was easy to get by using romeo dialogs.
Acting (In Order from best to worst) 1) Govinda- Govinda is BACK! He makes you laugh and cry and shows great chemistry with anyone he shares screen-space with. Great Acting 9.6/10 2) Akshaye Khanna- Akhaye also makes you laugh and does overexagerate a bit, but some scenes needed that. Overall a Great performance 9.1/10 3) John Abraham- Sold the boy-next-door image really well. Showed okay acting during emotional scenes but very good acting in the "love" scenes. Overall good performance 8.6/10 4) Vidya Balan- Sold off emotional scenes well. Looked good on screen with John to help her case. Good Performance 8.2/10 5) Shannon Eshra- Great Acting and good Hindi dialog. 8.2/10 6) Sohail Khan- Had a very limited role but did exactly what he was supposed to do. All scenes made you laugh! 8/10 7) Juhi Chuwla- Limited Role but did what was asked. Nothing great but nothing bad either. 7.8/10 8) Anil Kapoor- Acted good in some scenes but Overall was disappointing. Very bad during the emotional scenes. 7.5/10 9) Priyanka Chopra- Acted okay but many actresses could have done that role better. Her role was ill defined as well. 7.2/10 10) Salman Khan- Disappointing. Salman had a very brief role and he should not speak English at all. He tried to be funny and was not, tried to act romeo and was not. 7/10 11) Ayesha Takia- Her role was not defined as much as one would have liked. Came with a okay performance. 7/10 12) Isha Koppikar- Also had a brief role, and barely had any dialog delivery and even less expression delivery. 6.4/10
Overall this movie was above average. Was worth the ticket but would not be something that will be remembered in 3 months. Govinda and Akshaye will walk away with the most praise from this movie along with its music. Salman and Priyanka track should have been erased.
P.S. Priyanka Chopra and Ayesha Takia are 2 of my top 5 actresses. Just to show I have no bias.
Overall: 7.2/10
