Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
6.5/10. A supreme improvement to the Whedon cut.
However, it is still 4 hours long and I'm not sure I'd have taken that time in a theatre. I know Endgame was long too but it was a highly anticipated conclusion to years of world building. Understandably DCEU was in too much of a hurry to set up characters with separate movies. Hence the runtime. The 4:3 Aspect ratio didn't bother me on my small laptop screen. It could have done with a little bit more color though, not asking MCU colorful but it doesn't have to be a dull grey either.
The positives are Flash and Cyborg's fleshed out back stories. Ezra Miller holds great potential as the Flash and this movie made me want a Flashpoint Paradox movie. Cyborg/Stone had his fair share of scenes this time around and he didn't just spring out of nowhere so that was appreciated.
Superman and Batman plots were pretty much the same albeit more nuanced. That is of course until the final dream sequence. It just looked a bit stretched and also, sadly one that will never bear any fruition into future movies. Jared Leto is still meh. Deathstroke vs Batman would have been a sight. Evil Superman vs Batfleck, would it not have been repetitive? Idk. Injustice on the big screens would have been great.
The Earth Alliance vs Darkseid battle scene was epic not withstanding the CGI. Zeus and Ares blasting thunders was awesome. Not convinced by Darkseid though, in fact the character design of all the villains is absolutely terrible. A different Steppenwolf but still a terrible one in my opinion. (Take a hint from the Justice League animated series please, will be a vast improvement). Though I wasn't expecting any improvement in the CGI, it is after all a re-edit not a new movie. I hope DCEU if still existent can improve upon that.
The final battle sequence was OK, it was nice to see Flash time traveling (again Flashpoint Paradox please!!). But it still left a lot to be desired. Also the power levels of characters is confusing. Though does that really matter now?
Overall the movie was a vast improvement to the Whedon cut. But again it was far from what the DCEU could potentially be. Generally speaking, I feel there are some spectacular stories to tell from the DC comics and it's a shame we are left to rue with "What Might Have Been".
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
DCEU is dead
Inarguably of all the DCEU movies, and that means not taking "Joker" into consideration, Wonder Woman was the best of the lot. That wasn't saying much anyways.
However, with WW1984 the ball has simply dropped and the last glitter has faded. Not only is the plot extremely disappointing, full of inconsistencies, but the overall direction comes way short as well. The colorful 80s promised in posters are deceiving and Visual Effects actually look like they were dug up from the 80s.
Pedro Pascal is the highlight in a slow moving bus like storyline. Gal Gadot is 'OK' and the injustice done to Kirsten Wiig's Cheetah is a real shame. Chris Pine is well, there.
It's time to put up a headstone for DCEU and start anew.
The Lie (2018)
Absolute Waste of Time
Simply speaking, this movie is no horror and is most definitely not a penny worth of a thriller. It has no head or feet. Leaves you with nothing but regret. Watch an Adam Sandler movie instead really.
Scoob! (2020)
Stick to the D2V Animated Films. This is far from fun and the real Scooby Doo
I had so many expectations. Scoob! sets on a completely different track from the original stories, which I would welcome if it was better written. The jokes are unfunny, the movie feels unenthusiastic just like Gina Rodriguez's voice for Velma. Stick to the Direct-to-Video animated films. They're clearly superior.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Stupid storyline
Having a baby in a post-apocalyptic world just does not seem logical. Also, how did 7 billion population with a galore of geniuses fail to think of weaponizing SOUND is bizarre. The movie boasts good acting but this is definitely not one for intellectual beings.
