Hereditary (2018)

A highly praised, meh affair.

Warning: Spoilers
I honestly don't get the hype around this one, or the tenacity of people defending it to the hilt.

A couple of scenes were enjoyable, but on the whole i was bored to tears. I found it pretty forgettable throughout, and the shoe horned demonology conclusion felt like an after-thought, and a shoddy way to tie things together. I strongly feel this would of been more enjoyable without the"demonology." Instead, we get a pretty dull family drama, with a conclusion that really feels a forced attempt at shock.

Not for me at all.

Personally i found "House of the Devil" or "A Dark song" similar movies but much more effective than this.

Its ok, although i feel is quite over-rated.

Ive watched a lot of this style of cinema over the years, and this is one of the titles that gets mentioned very often.

Its a pretty accessible movie, and its well presented. Its definitely one that will appeal to more casual b-movie fans.

I cant help but feel its somewhat over-rated, due to the recognition this receives, compared to some other more interesting movies ive seen.

Its far from a bad film, but it felt pretty polished as B-movies go, Probably a bit too polished for my tastes.

Good movie, but i found the pedestal many have placed this upon somewhat undeserved.

An Interesting one.

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting movie.

A guy (Vincent) is being investigated by the police, decides to murder his brother (Clay), in the hope the police will misidentify the corpse and cease their investigation.

He is ultimately unsuccessful, However Clay is left maimed and suffering from amnesia. The people immediately involved with Vincent nurse Clay back to health, as they were unaware of the switch of identity, they are now under the impression Clay is actually Vincent. Of course Clay suffering from amnesia knows no different and unknowingly adopts Vincent's identity, and thus also inheriting his brothers misfortunes.

One thing to be noted, Clay and Vincent look nothing alike, they're not even the same race. This is never commented on during the movie, and the other characters interactions are as if they were cast as identical twins. This is obviously done intentionally, and i found it an interesting touch.

It has some "trippy" sequences, ive seen it compared to Hitchcocks style of film making, and id say that was an accurate comparison. Its entirely black and white, and i feel it really lends itself well to some nice cinematography.

I enjoyed it.

Its a difficult film to talk about, without spoiling anything. Its a bit slow to begin with, but i never found myself bored. Certainly took me in a direction i wasn't expecting, id certainly recommend this movie.

Creep (I) (2004)

Atmospheric and underrated.

Decent little British horror. Basic plot, Woman gets trapped in a subway overnight. Unfortunately for her, shes not alone. Characters are a bit stereotypical, however Sean Harris' portrayal of the antagonist will make your skin crawl. Pretty fast paced, action packed with a satisfying resolution. Give it ago if you like "The Descent" or "Wrong Turn".

Well acted, but a bit dull.

Its not a terrible movie, Effron and the other members of the cast are great. It feels more of a drama, so if you're going into this hoping to quench your bloodlust, you'll be disappointed. It concerns itself more with the manipulative behavior of Bundy, and the people close to him. As opposed to detailing his actual crimes.

Id probably also recommend doing a bit of research on Ted before watching, its bit easier to follow if you're familiar with the story already.

Decent film, well acted, just a bit of a slow burn.
