Crime and Punishment (2002)
Not a good version
Strayed too far from the essence of the book and characters for me. Hurt was very good, that's about it on the acting side. I didn't think the Rodion Raskolnikov character was anywhere like that of the book, and poorly acted.
Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
No faith
A movie about the God of Israel, in where the director clearly doesn't have faith in God; the lack of belief in the miraculous. The acting is fine, but it integrates a world view that is incompatible with the scriptures that it proports to represent.
King of Kings (1961)
Good Depiction
Every story about Jesus gives us a unique way of viewing the events of His ministry, death, and resurrection. Although, in reality, they were not sitting at picnic tables at the last supper, I did like the portrayal of the last supper, especially how Jesus handed out His Eucharistic bread individually to each of the Apostles, and their confusion and semi repulsed facial expressions to eating the body and blood of Jesus. I have not seen another depiction of this before. Regarding Barabbas, they went way beyond biblical explanation for the role of Barabbas, and his connection to Judas, and the reasoning for Judas' betrayal. They added extra biblical narrative throughout to tell the story. All in all, a decent depiction of His story.
