Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice The Winner: DC Comic Book Fans
9 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
BvS had A LOT of Easter eggs, plots, sub plots and a lot of ground to cover in order to lay the foundation for Justice League: Part One, slated for 2017. First off, the Easter eggs were BEYOND amazing! Any hardcore DC fan would appreciate them and be left with wanting more!

Off the bat, pun intended, the introduction of Ben Afleck's Batman and the all but forgotten back story of Bruce Wayne was flawless and perfectly executed. Short and sweet, but just enough to get the ball rolling on his story arch. Jeremy Iron's as Alfred was spectacular, his portrayal of a "hands on" Alfred really brings out a part of the character only seen in the comics. Henry Cavill's Superman offered more of the same we saw in Man of Steel, but brought more depth in my opinion, than in the previous film. His character really made up for what we didn't get in Man of Steel. Jesse Eisenburg's Lex Luther was amazing, brought some of his comic book persona into the big screen, and made that transition albeit a little bumpy but still pretty well, all things considered. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman brought a mysterious and mystical presence when she was on screen; she played the Amazon Princess as if the role was written for her! She definitely has set the stage and anticipation for her Solo Film due early 2017.

The Movie as a whole was a very beautiful film, great cinematography, slight brash editing, and the soundtrack was amazing, it really helped when the characters came on screen and really made their presence felt.

Onto the bad, however amazing I thought this movie was, it's not without its flaws. The pacing of this movie was pretty bad at first, then picks up, and finally settles in the end. The story-line was PACKED and I mean PACKED, almost too much and at some points becoming too messy for the average moviegoer. In a strange twist, had the Ultimate Cut been released to theater's this movie would probably have had a much more different reception.

Suicide Squad (2016)

A Welcomed Splash of Color and Comedy in a Dark and Broody DC Universe
9 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Suicide Squad "A secret government agency led by Amanda Waller recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions and save the world from a powerful threat in exchange for clemency."

The movie throws you into the action from the start and gives you the run down of each character and how they ended up in government custody. From there it's somewhat of a mixture of stop and go when it comes to action and plot. A lot of DC fan service and another notch cutting deeper into the DCEU (DC Extended Universe). First off, Will Smith's Deadshot was pretty awesome, I had my doubts at first. Margot Robbie as and Jai Courtney delivered as Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang, the rest of the squad "served their purpose" as far as plot goes. Jared Leto channeled a lot of different portrayals of the Joker, from the Jester to the Gangster and the a little splash of Anarchist, definitely looking forward for more of that!

Cara Delevingne's portrayal as Enchantress delivered as an overarching threat and made the stakes of the story believable. Two very well executed Justice League cameos served up as a little hype and anticipation to what Justice League will dish up in 2017. The post credit scene will give DC Fans some more hype to enjoy.

Definitely would like to see if they release a Director's Cut and see what the other version of the film looked like.
