Shining Meets Home Alone
1 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the movie is extremely slow. The second half is a remake of home alone with none of the comedy. Kid defends the home while the parents struggle to get back to him. But then to make it interesting, they throw in the elements of the shining as well. Rather than an ax, villain's weapon choice is a baseball bat. I almost expected to utter "Where's Johnny?". Yes there is a snow storm and other person trying to get to him gets killed. Just in a little more brutal fashion than The Shining.

Not a horrible movie. Not a good movie. Ignore the 1 reviews and ant 10 reviews. Considered horror, but not scary at all. If you have nothing else to watch, give it a chance. But if you're looking for action, you won't get much till half way through.

Considering it's horror...Top Notch
26 February 2023
So, there are regular movies, and then there is horror. I think everyone understands that we watch a horror flick for a completely different reason than watching a drama, mystery, etc.

When you're rating movies, give consideration to the genre of the movie. There are so many bad horror movies out there horror should be based on its own genre.

There is no reason this movie should be rated below a seven in the horror genre. It is well produced, well acted, is tense throughout, and provides plenty of jumps!

As others have said, this movie has similarities to The Strangers, which is another excellent horror film.

Both films provide little gore with a steady stream of edge of your seat fear. If you're looking for gore, go somewhere else, but if you're looking for an high level horror movie, take a chance on Kristy and The Strangers.

Not as bad as the reviews
11 February 2023
OK, all those that rated this movie at one or two haven't really seen a bad movie. This is not that bad! The movie introduces you to the characters and slowly builds into a relatively tense thriller.

The movie is far from perfect, and there will be several times your question their decisions. But it's a survival movie, and they all make stupid decisions!

If you were looking for a high end, Hollywood movie, look elsewhere, but if you are looking for something to give you some thrills, give it a shot. But before warned, the ending sucks. Not sure why they can't make movies with legitimate endings and a good conclusion anymore.

My IQ is not high enough for this!
27 January 2023
I can usually count on the reviews for a show or movie to determine whether or not I will like it. Not the case with dark! The show started off strong and entertaining. But by episode six it was starting to wear on me.

By the end of the first season, my mind was so scrambled felt like I needed therapy. I want a series where I can relax and enjoy, not rewind every five minutes to try to figure out what I may have just missed.

If you are really into time travel, you may find this an entertaining show and one that you can follow. But for me, it was just too much to keep going, and I stopped after season one.

Good luck to those who dare to venture through three seasons.

Too much dialogue and too little action
16 November 2022
This had been in my watchlist for a while. For some reason, I always passed it up when looking for something to watch. I wish I had passed again.

I really wanted to like this series. As others have mentioned, there is way too much dialogue that seemed to go on forever. Each episode had long and drawn out conversations. Nothing exciting really happens until episode six. Then, it basically turns into a zombie show.

I know the show presents particular reviews in life, but the whole show was just annoying. It started at out pretty good and I really liked father Paul in the beginning. But then it turned and he became a character that was hard to watch with drown out ramblings.

Not sure how anyone could rate this a 10. Recommend that you move on to another show.

Not that bad, but not that good either
7 October 2022
As others have said, not a horror film at all. Stephen King movies can be hit or miss and this one will be liked by some and hated by others..

But to enjoy it, don't watch it for jump scares or any type of action. . You'll be very disappointed. The mind of Stephen King is unique and his stories aren't for everyone. If you like intrigue, suspense and a story that is not normal, you'll probably like it. It is a little slow, but I never felt bored.

It's actually sort of a feel good movie in certain parts, while sad in other parts. As with most reviews, don't trust the 1s or the 10s. This certainly is neither. If you're addicted to your cell phone, maybe this movie can help!

Very Average!

If you are looking for a show that fits today's political correctness, this is for you. Show wasn't terrible, but characters were definitely created based on political leanings!!!

This show would have been much better if 100% of the bad guys hadn't been of a specific race and gender, and all the good guys hadn't been of other specific gender, race or sexual orientation. And stop trying to make all cops look like the bad guys! Still have 100 characters to go. Acting was okay. The ending was a bit surprising. Overall, there are better shows on ITV.

Should go to the top of your watch list
25 July 2022
I'm American and have been watching British drama for the past couple of years. I now prefer the more realistic productions than all the glitz and glamour of newer American shows.

We usually have no insight before starting a a series which was the case with The Jury. To keep it short and sweet, the production, the characters and the story were all well done. Each character had a unique story line and the whole series was easy to follow.

But one of the strongest compliments I can give the show was how the ending wrapped things up nice and clean. No uncertain twists that make you question the outcome. WATCH IT.

Trust the reviews on this one...
13 July 2022
With all of the bad series and movies being produced these days, Ozark is at least worth your time. It's not the best of the best but a fairly decent ride.

As others have noted, the first couple of seasons were quality and entertaining. Then it gets off track and goes a little nuts.

I personally thought the last season was fairly good. EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL EPISODE!!! You could feel it being rushed which resulted in an unfinished story. Come on, give us a better conclusion than that.

If you haven't seen the show and you're struggling to find something decent to watch, give it a shot.

Why Why Why did I "Stay" to the end
10 July 2022
You can tell in the first 5 minutes that this is a bad movie. But you just can tell how bad. It really only gets worse as it goes along. Don't waste you time. ANY other movie you watch will be better.

Not Good...
29 April 2022
I didn't expect much but thought it had potential after the first two episodes. After episode 3, I lost all interest but kept watching. As mentioned by everyone, the acting is not good. There was not one character that draws you in to like. I ended up wishing they would all die. It takes a lot of will to get through this series. It's just a mess. I've got one episode left and not sure I can make it!

Interesting, but...more here than just the story
23 April 2022
Sad that this was based on true events. But, the series was pretty good. Like many have said, it's probably a bit longer than it needed to be.

What I found annoying was the creators attempt to show that women can be strong in traditional masculine roles. Not anything wrong with that, but there appeared to be attempts throughout to create the female detective characters with typical male actions, I.e. A group of female detectives, in a bar, playing pool, and drinking beer. Sure, it's probably happened, but not a typical scene. It just makes it look like the producers had other motives rather than just the story itself, like blurring the lines between femininity and masculinity.
