Fist Fight (2017)
Wow. Just wow.
I love Charlie Day. He's arguably the best character on It's Always Sunny (besides Dennis), and I really want him to succeed with whatever he does because I feel like he is just a genuinely funny guy. Ice Cube...we'll, Ice Cube is Ice Cube. He typically plays the same character in everything he's in, so I didn't expect much more from him and that's alright. But I gotta say, one of these days when It's Always Sunny ends and the cast is going their separate ways to make movies, Charlie will have a very short and very forgettable career making movies if he stars in a few more of these crap-riots of a movie. This thing stinks. The script is so flat and meanders all over the place without any intention of carrying a plot. The jokes are just F-words thrown about, Charlie flipping out, and the chick from Workaholics talking about banging her students...which I just found uncomfortable and not funny at all. I'm a humorous guy. I love silly movies. But, they have to at least have a purpose and the jokes need to be thought out and have a purpose. I know there's an audience for these kind of movies otherwise they wouldn't get made, but it's sad that the studios think these things pass as comedies worthy to promote in the first place.
Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (2017)
Jeff Garlin is a great comedian
I love Jeff Garlin. He's a great comedian and he was great on Curb. But, I have to wonder where his mind was while writing this script. The movie is totally flat, lacks an interesting story line, and has no opportunities for even a slight chuckle. Not to mention it's boring enough to make 81 minutes feel like 3 hours. I'm sorry, I really wanted this to be good. And I really want good comedians like Jeff to be successful when they branch out and attempt to make movies. But this one is miserable.
