A fun goofy movie
5 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had a stellar cast and a lot of laughs. I really enjoyed it. It's a goofy fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and is easy and entertaining to watch.

It was great to see Seinfeld in a feature film (and directing) alongside Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant and others. It's almost unbelievable, how many comedians and well known actors are in the movie joining in poking fun. John Hamm was a surprise excellent addition as Don Draper.

The style reminded me of a Monty Python movie with more subtle jokes. The movie might not be for everyone who miss the sarcasm and references I thought it was clever.

An easy watch with a lot of flair
3 April 2024
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. It is completely different to anything else currently streaming and portrays the mirrored histories of Chanel and Dior in an interesting drama rather than a documentary.

The cast are stellar particularly Juliette Binoche, Ben Mendelsohn, Maise Williams, John Malkovich, and Emily Mortimer, as is the fashion. Maise Williams is almost unrecognisable in the role. The telling of the different stories including Catherine Dior's are really interesting to follow all woven together. Very easy to watch, highly recommend especially for those who like fashion, drama and/or war series. I was almost disappointed to see it end as I wanted to keep watching it all unravel...

Better than I was expecting
12 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was better than I was expecting given all the negative reviews. Florence is excellent in it, Harry isn't too bad either. Very much feels like a modern day Stepford Wives. Unfortunately it just has too many holes in the plot to really take off so it misses the mark.

The ending felt a little abrupt too, I would've liked to see more of the aftermath and more explanation of how the world was created and functions. How do they survive without food all day? What happens when she returns, what happens to all the other characters? What was the back story of Chris Pine and Gemma Chan's characters?

An ok movie but not great.

Entertaining comedy/horror
25 July 2020
I didn't know what to expect from this movie, I hadn't heard much about it. The trailer reminded me of Get Out, so my hubby and I gave it a shot. We both really enjoyed it! It was a fun entertaining flick that doesn't take it self too seriously.

The acting, dialogue, horror and comedy are all on point. I don't understand the low score reviews, it's not meant to be a realistic movie it's a comedy/horror. Samara Weaving is brilliant in her role as Grace. Adam Brody is great as the drunken sarcastic brother. A nice distraction from iso-life.

Expertly delivered satire
14 February 2020
This story is one of few told from the perspective of a child which makes the film really unique. The fact that it's a fanatic child struggling with nationalism, fanaticism, love and humanity while living in a dictatorship makes it especially interesting and thought provoking. Taika Waititi does an excellent job delivering this sad and heartwarming satire peppered with plenty of laughs. The cast nails it! This is a lovely offbeat film that certainly deserves its Oscar nominations and win. I would definitely recommend viewing.

Easy and Enjoyable
14 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why some people disliked this movie so much. Perhaps they were expecting an action packed overdone movie!? My husband and I really enjoyed this film.

It was easy to watch. The focus was on the character development and their love story and resilience. Kate and Idris were both great in it and their acting and chemistry was not forced or overplayed. The cinematography throughout the movie is beautiful! The story and dangerous scenes are tense but not overdramatised, which make them come across as terrifying but realistic.

I am not sure what more people were expecting from this movie; avalanches and explosions!?

Save your money and time.

Sadly this movie was just overdone and tried too hard. The jokes were outdated and forced and the movie had too many stereotypes and story lines which was disappointing as I liked the first movie.

This one was just too over the top. I found Nia's character to be frustrating and like she had forgotten much of her rebelliousness from the first movie. The additional ending with the letter was just unnecessary and annoying.

There are a few sweet moments. Perhaps if you are Greek you might have a few laughs, but if you are not the laughs are few and far in between. I would give it a miss.
