Zoo (2015)
Starts out good but then I got worse
The first season was ok. A normal pace with a few "shocking" twists. Ok to watch.
Then season two comes and the pace picks up a little but still ok.
Then season three........ it derailed.
The amount of "shocking" twists exploded and there where almost two twists in each episode..
Each time the good guys solved a problem the bad guys hit them with another snag. The writers wanted us to be on the edge all the time like " Omg how are they going to survive/solve/save the world this time".
The first 100 times it was ok but then it just got ridiculous... Twist after twist after twist....
And there where always that darn time limit, If we don't get this thing to that place in x hours everyone is going to DIE!!!!
Then they almost get there and the bad guys stopped them. The good guys have to find another solution, which they always do but they have to do it before the time runs out.. OMG!!! *sigh*
The end of season three was nuts... The amount of twists and... stupidity was too much.
If there ever will be an season 4, I'm not going to watch it.
Btw, for some unknown reason they absolutely love the "shaking camera" way of filming a scene. They think it adds more.. excitement to the scene. I only get annoyed and some motion sickness...
Timeless (2016)
Started out well
I liked this idea of time traveling agents protecting the past.
The series started out well with people being cautious trying not to change the future by changing something in the past.
The show was focused around the time travels and there where little to none love drama...
But that all changed in season 2..
Now they don't care so much on what they do, who they kill or if they change anything in the past. Do we need a car or new cloths, no problem. Just steal this car and kill that person. Who was it? Who cares?. Did the person need that car for some reason? Nah.. He/she might needed that car to go to a doctor or an important meeting and so on... Nah...
When they return from all the time travels the love dramas starts... Everyone starting to sleep with everyone (more or less).. The love triangles happening with jealousy and more sex to follow.. ... The show is turning into some cheap love drama with intrigues and "shocking events" (more screwing around) and the time traveling part is getting less and less important. Especially from the writes point of view since they are now more focused on the love dramas...
I stopped watching this show after episode 6 in season 2. I saw the future of the series after that and it's not turning out to be a show I'm interested in watching.
Season 1 was nice for the most tho...
Haven (2010)
Not for me but maybe for others.
If you are looking for series with fun and exciting sci-fi special effects and thrilling episodes with loads of action and drama then this series is not for you. This series could be described as a copy of the old series 'Murder, She Wrote' but with a "supernatural" being as the criminal. And by "supernatural" I mean that the person who did the crime usually did not know about the "power" they had and it was like: 'Oh, did I do that... Sorry'. I have watched six episodes now and I'm bored.. to calm and non exiting for me. I don't know how good the special effects is in this series since I have not seen any yet... The actors and script seems fine and there is an interesting backstory too but you only get hints of it now and then and not in every episode. In fact I stayed with the series for six episodes due to I wanted to know more about the backstory but I don't know if we ever will get the answers to the questions the main character have.
Alphas (2011)
Have a lot of potential
I loved this series but I'm not surprised it got canceled. The reason is simple, here we have a series about supernatural persons with powers like setting things on fire, super human strength or lightning fast reflexes just like the X-men. So what is the most important thing you should NOT cheap out on? The Special effects! The special effects in this series is awful. They for some reason thinks that this series about supernatural beings and powers would survive with B-movie special effects. A typical fighting scene is where two people "fighting" each others where they more or less standing still but they add "action" to the scene by shaking the camera. I'm talking about shaking the camera like it's mounted on a wet who dog tries to shake the water away... and on top of that they add.. "fire" or "smoke" using Ms Paint.. Even if they just leaving a vehicle to enter a house they would shake the camera like crazy.. This is the level of special effects in Alphas and I'm sure of that this is the reason they canceled it... Think of it, how popular would the X-man movies be with B-movie special effects?
Besides the special effects this series is great. I love the actors and they do a good job. The script is good too with a great backstory that sometimes takes over a episode. The backstory is not just something happening in the back, it's the spine of the series. I love that the characters are human in the sense that they have real lives besides having the powers. Some try to hide their power and others is using it for their own benefit. They did not ask for these powers and some might don't like to have them since it will "only" cause trouble to them.
I would love to see a new season with Alphas but with a 10x budget regarding the special effects. The ending did leave us hanging.. we need some conclusions.
