The Blacklist: The Whaler (No. 165) (2023)
Final 2 mins are a thing of beauty!!!
Maybe it's the old sentimalist in me, but after 10 seasons, preserving through some of the worst writing and character arcs I've ever seen, to see Reddington and Harold in this season emerge as two of the most watchable characters on TV.
Their exchange at the end of this episode encapsulates everything that this show has become. It's worth tolerating the 'caper of the week' and ridiculous support cast, to spend more time with these two. They really are two great actors who have evolved their characters to a place where they'll be genuinely missed once they're gone.
I only wish the writers had the confidence to base the show around these two and give them more screen time rather than the dross that is the rest of the show.
Two beacons of light in the darkness of a show that should otherwise have closed the curtains 4 or 5 seasons ago!
Goodnight Mommy (2022)
Don't believe the IMDB Rating...
Ignore the c5 IMDB Rating, this is a great film. I'm astonished it has been rated this low considering some of the absolute dross that scores 7+. I can only assume the studio didn't pay the requisite $$$ to a team of Russian bots to get the rating higher. It's an excellent film and one which is worth an hour and half of anyone's time.
It's an hour and half of intrigue and the perfect length to keep you interested, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Not quite 'horror' but definitely plenty of suspense and intrigue.
Naomi Watts is excellent and puts in an extremely strong performance. The two boys are equally as good.
Well worth a watch!
Der Pass (2018)
Best programme in ages!b
This is the best thing I've seen in a good long while! Story was excellent, acting was great, location was brilliant.
Can't speak highly enough of it!
Goliath: Tongue Tied (2018)
Isn't this supposed to be a legal drama???
Did the writers forget that the strength of Season one was the quirky legal nuances and interplay.
Season two started like that and descended into a vanity project which ended as weak as anything I can remember.
Money on no Season three after that farcical ending.
