Captain Janeway was a very good example of what a female captain should be, she showed her feelings only when it would help. She remained strong in the face of fear, she was commanding in the face of defiance she was fun when needed and she admitted failures rarely but did know her limits. That is how Any captain should command. Like a parent to your children you are not their friend bc if you act like their friend they will treat you like they treat their friends with no respect for your authority. She is loving and kind always, but stern when necessary. She was never soft spoken every second of every minute of every day.
Janeway never cried obsessively. She never was perfect even in her failures. No one agreed with her constantly. She was more Vulcan than Michael who grew up on Vulcan.
How is Captain Burnham perfect by the end in every episode? Her mistakes have no true consequences. Then all the crying from everyone. I grew up in a family of soldiers. My husband was a soldier. Soldiers do not cry this much ever, especially at work! Ugh Gene Roddenberry would never let the human characters outshine the aliens to show the difference between us and them. Bc we ALL ARE different. Every culture in every country is different and that is what makes us beautiful. We are not robots yet Star Trek Discovery and some of the world today want to make no distinction between anyone. And that is so stupid. You can not be diverse and be inclusive at the same time it doesn't work! It is riding a broken fence that should have been destroyed a long time ago. Our differences is what makes us special.
The agenda of acting like everything is all perfect in their emotions is unreal. This is so far from Star Trek. This is a false narrative of what Star Trek should never be.
