I'm Not There (2007)
Not for everyone! Means that this movie isn't good. End of story
This movie is downright horrible and isn't good. It does have a good cast, but every rendition of Dylan is horrible and the whole convoluted storyline is downright offensive at how bad it is. Bob Dylan: The Urban Myth. Bob Dylan: Total Sellout. Not worth your time, and if you say that this movie is good, or "not for everyone" you either have terrible taste or are too stupid to know bad from good.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Except for the re-shot scnes from the original, not half bad
I really don't understand why they thought that they needed to reshoot scenes from the original Shining, But other than that this movie was actually entertaining and surprised me because I didn't know if it was going to be good or not, but I ended up actually liking it in the end.
The only truly annoying things were the fact that wherever they shot the Outlook Hotel, was not really the Outlook hotel and the actors and actresses that they chose to use instead of footage from the original Shining for Mr. & Mrs. Torrance looked and sounded nothing like the original actors and actresses.
Hikaru no go (2001)
What the heck kind of ending is this?
I feel like I wasted my time, and please don't give me the bulls×it answer on the web of "we have to grow up sometimes" and let things go because that makes no sense considering the way that the show was written and paced. There was no indication that Sai was or was going to disappear. It was randomly written in and then he was gone, never conveying his feelings to Hikaru and leaving him suspended in greif that could have been saved by just simply communicating.
I thought it'd end and Hikaru and Sai would be together until the end, that they would play some more great games, not have Sai randomly disappear near the end and waste your time with mindless prattle and storylines that you don't care about mixed with annoying scenes of Hikaru saying "I'll never play Go again" and generally sulking. I thought Sai and Hikaru would play The Divine Move together.
I would have felt bad for him, if they would have shown him feeling more, but we got a crap load of filler and then what felt like a total cop out at the end with an abrupt end with no real resolution as to why Sai disappeared, or what The Divine Move was, or if it would ever be played. Just more prattle about how "it takes 2 to play Go." Yeah? Well it takes 2 to write and animate and these people couldn't even do that right. The writer failed.
It was such a great series up until the end until they ruined it with a rushed, filler filled, crappy ending that made it feel like I just wasted so much time on what I thought was going to be a great series, but it just blew itself up.
I wouldn't recommend this series.
The Irishman (2019)
Cgi DeNiro? Sign me up
A lot of people are saying on here to review the movie and not the director, but how could you possibly not review the director?
If you like to see Robert De Niro De aged with c g i, with a storyline that drags on and on, then please watch the Irishman. I cannot believe how long this movie was, and that I somehow managed to stay awake throughout all of it. It is almost like walking through chest-high water with no end in sight, and your lungs are on fire.
Like most people who watched the Irishman, I was expecting so much more. And I even put aside the fact that we're dealing with a Martin Scorsese who is much older, but seemingly not even the same person in this film. The direction is there, that let you know that this is Martin Scorsese behind the camera, but the script and the acting? Nah.
I honestly don't get it. Scorsese put on a movie like silence, which was incredible. It was so beautifully shot, the story was just beyond amazing and it was honestly one of the first Scorsese movies to actually make me cry, and then we get this crap?
I feel like Martin Scorsese has given into the people that he so desperately fought against when he was a fledgling director with such hits as Taxi Driver, bring out your dad, Raging Bull and so many more. He's giving into the hate that he got for making silence, and is now a shadow of who he once was, a strong independent director who didn't give a crap what's the average consumer wanted he was just making art. Not anymore. He totally wussed out of directing Joker, because he's afraid of the controversy and then ended up making a movie that was so incredibly boring, stupid, long and drawn-out that I could have washed paint dry and it would have been more entertaining this garbage.
Shame on you Martin Scorsese and get it together. Unless you want to become like Steven Spielberg pumping out done pile after done pile until you are drowned in it.
Marriage Story (2019)
Adam Driver is amazing, it's just a really heavy film to watch
What a waste of talent in Star Wars with Adam Driver, because man does he really shine in this. This movie is very hard to watch, it's extremely hard to watch especially when you have been a victim of verbal abuse, but I did make it all the way through and while it wasn't that great, and my opinion I do really believe that Adam Driver deserves awards for this performance because man, he is good.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Entertaining for sure, but definitely not best picture worthy
I will admit that Hung is a master cinematographer, and can tell a good story for the most part, but like the movie Mother, which I believe came out in 2012, that he also wrote and directed, it just Falls flat at the end and doesn't really end, but more or less just stops mid sentence.
For the most part, this movie had me on the edge of my seat, and the middle of the film had me biting my freaking Nails because it was so exciting and embarrassing to watch. Parasite really delivers and is a very intriguing film that is beautiful shot and really is one heck of a ride, but that ride comes to a sudden stop at the end, which is both jarring and jaw gaping considering that this movie was such a thrill, only to become a shoe being thrown at your head.
I wish that the ending was better, but I will take it oh, because I don't think that every single story needs to end on a high note, but I do believe that the story at least needs to have resolution in order for it to be a success.
Motherless Brooklyn (2019)
Had to say to myself oh, good gosh there still another hour?
This movie had so much promise. From what the commercials showed, this was looking to be a nice gritty, Noir with a seemingly good story with a stellar cast and even Edward Norton at the director's helm, and don't get me wrong he does do a good job directing the movie, it's just that it's too long. This movie could have been cut in half and would have been great, but 2 hours and 24 minutes as a run time it's just too long, especially the way that the story is paced and written.
Edward Norton does a fantastic job playing somebody with Tourette syndrome oh, and The Supporting Cast is great as well, it's just that the story drags and by the time you get to the hour and 20 minute mark its misery and how long it feels. When I press pause to take a leak and saw that I had that much more to go, I knew that when I came back I was going to be skipping to the end and was still not impressed.
This movie had potential, but unfortunately it was wasted. I'd give it a Solid 4 out of 10 Stars, only for the first hour and 20 so minutes, after that I'd say it's not worth your time and to rent it at home and do not go see it in the theaters.
Ao-chan Can't Study! (2019)
Was funny for a bit, but got old fast
12 minute winter anime that is totally hyped. The clips you can see on YouTube or Instagram are the best parts of this show. Ao is the main character and she is an annoying honor student who "just wants to study" and doesn't want to admit her feelings for the guy she has obviously fallen for, and at first it is cute, but after awhile, and when the dude straight up gives up and says that he won't date Ao until she achieves her goal of getting into College and by then It was agonizing at how boring it was.
Senryuu Girl (2019)
Absouletey adorable and a total joy to watch
While the episodes are only 12 minutes, I binged this show all the way, and then watched it again because this series was so cute and generally uplifting and exactly what you need if you're having a bad week, day, hell even year. I'll be watching this again and hoping for a second season
Hip Whip Girl: Keijo!!!!!! (2016)
While it was enjoyable, it could have been better
For the most part, this series was enjoyable, easy to consume and eas generally uplifting and a fun ride, but by the end I personally felt like it wasn't that great of a series and could have been better. It definitely does not deserve a second season, much like Maken-Ki, if I am spelling that correctly.
I would recommend this series if you're feeling down and need to be uplifted, but otherwise if you're feeling good it's really honestly not worth your time.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (2012)
This series was all right for the most part, but ended so badly. 26 episodes of build up to one lackluster ending
24 out of the 26 episodes of the show we're pretty good, the last two episodes unfortunately we're not. They may as well have been Recaps, as well as an introduction of a whole slew of needless, unnecessary new characters that you're not even going to get to see you so what's the point of introducing them. The relationship between the two main characters never really goes anywhere, and every single time they both confessing to each other there happens to be something going by that Kevin's one of them so that they can't hear how the other is actually feeling, nor do they feel the need to discuss how they are feeling with each other either. It's annoying, boring and by the end of 26 episodes you're expecting more than just this.
The only Pro that I can give the show is that it really boosted my creativity and made me feel motivated and made me feel like I wanted to try harder, that stayed with me, the show is by the end forgettable, boring and you're just tired because you just wasted not only your precious time, but your emotional energy into investing in these characters that just let you down at the end. I would recommend watching this show, but do yourself a favor and fast forward to the last two episodes because they're not worth sitting through. I was expecting so much more. I am disappointed
Shinseiki Evangelion (1995)
There is a lot about this series to like, but it is overrated
Yes, Shinji, Asuka, Rei and everybody else are very complex, enjoyable and great characters, what is not enjoyable or complex is the non-stop existentialism throughout the show. It gets to the point where it's just a whiny. Asuka is the absolute worst when it comes to whininess, Shinji's wasn't that bad compared to hers. His was understandable, he learned from his mistakes and hardened himself into a stronger person, but Asuka broke, and we never really got to see her pick up the pieces, just the same whiny, boring story of I hate everybody, but I really hate myself. The sooner projection that you see in your everyday life come up from hateful people who are embittered about their choices in life, and Men does it get boring and old, quick.
The story line is not very consistent oh, and that sometimes is really janky, garbled and may as well be vomit that you drink from a straw, but for the most part it is interesting, but at the same time long, drawn out into a thin broth that is mostly water by the end.
Bokura wa minna kawaisou (2014)
Short, and ends abruptly, but still worth your time
I read the manga, but MangaRock got taken down halfway through my reading it, so I decided to watch the anime and was pleasantly suprised at how crisp, bright and beautiful the colors were in this anime.
The dialogue was great and the characters were easy to identify with and you can't help but cheer Usa-kun and Rit-chan on and hope for their happiness.
This show is a breath of fresh air and will brighten your day and I highly recommend it.
Mosura 3: Kingu Gidora raishu (1998)
Not that bad
Special enough The Rebirth of Mothra 2 and 3 are more interesting then the original Rebirth of Mothra. It's been interesting watching these three movies in a row for the past 3 days.
We get to see Mothra pull a Superman and go back in time to fight a younger King Ghidorah. The adult Ghidorah was actually really great looking and the Prosthetics never disappoint when it comes to Toho. We get some updates in this one, but it's still a good and interesting story. I would watch it again.
Yu yu hakusho (1992)
I'll admit that the first three Arcs were extremely entertaining, well-paced, well-written and all-around great, but by the end it just felt like it should have ended sooner
You may be like me, you may be thinking to yourself that you barely remember watching Yu Yu Hakusho, as a kid, so why not revisit it as an adult. To you I take my hat off, because the first three Arc's of the story you will absolutely love. Those are I am of course talking about are the original first season, second season and the third season, but by the Four Season you'll be probably where I am at. Wishing that it would have ended after Shinsho Arc, if that's you spell his name.
The fourth season is so mind-boggling and boring. It is so not Yu Yu Hakusho. Yuskue is now a demon, the one thing that he was asked by by genkai to not become. By the end of this series Yuskue has both become Toguro and Sensui oh, it's almost like they just wanted to end the series oh, but also right on the popularity of these three characters.
Yuskue's poor reason for existence was to defeat evil, not become it. If they would have written that off and Yuskue would have stayed in the human Realm instead of going to the demon realm and just have been content with his new standing in life, I think I would have liked this series a lot better, but instead he decides to go to the demon realm, find his dumb demon father, become stronger and then again, the Riders ride on the popularity of the Dark Tournament and basically make a whole new one so it feels like you're watching the exact same second season again, but with more boring, lame characters, and our main character being one of those lame characters.
There is such a thing as overarching storylines. What makes an overarching storyline good? Consistency and this show lacks that severely.
Even at the end Yuskue fails oh, and is the loser. Not that that's a bad thing, but the fact that you built up this whole story of how strong your main character has become, only for him to be beaten and some random people who we've never been introduced to before, other than in this fourth season somehow win this magic tournament. It makes absolutely no sense, as earlier in the fourth season we got to see a large amount of Yoki coming from these people who fought Raizen, but nothing as big as what Yuskue himself put out oh, so it honestly doesn't make a bit of sense.
Halfway through the first season I was just wishing that the series would end, but I stuck it out and was still disappointed. I cheated all in all of this series is wonderful, but when you don't have an overarching storyline that actually makes sense it really takes away from the story and by the end just makes it a jumbled garbled mess.
Mosura (1996)
Seems much longer than it actually is, but not that bad
I'm surprised to say that I actually liked The Rebirth of Mothra. There are times where you really drugged out and felt like there wasn't much story left, and the ending was kind of unnecessary, but otherwise you shouldn't honestly expect much when coming into this movie. Just have the experience of watching it and go with the flow. Just like any Godzilla movie there are times where it just feels like it needs to end, but doesn't but that's the appeal and charm of these movies.
Somebody complained about the kids being bad actors, but I actually thought they were better than the parents. This movie is geared towards children, so find the inner child in you and give it a shot.
Le grand bain (2018)
Best rental of 2020, so far.......
This movie just melts your heart. It starts out a but avant garde, but moves on to become one of the most uplifting films I've seen in a very long time. It's like if Cocoon, The Bad News Bears and The Full Monty had a lovechild in 2018 and gave us this comedy film of 2018.
It is beautifully shot, written and acted film that is exactly what we are all looking for.
Sleepy Hollow (2013)
Surprisingly, really good. Put the book behind you and come in with an open mind and you'll have a great time.
The actor who plays Icabod Crane is quite frankly, the life of this show. His rendition of the classic character is both fresh, and at the same time right what you would want and expect it to be. The writing is even and good, and the character development is decent and easy to consume.
That being said......Once you get to the 3rd season you'll be wondering why you're still watching, and by seaosn 4 you'll be shooting your foot because it's just that bad. The first 2 seasons were great, but by the last 2 seasons they ruined this show with bad writing. It became The Simpsons with it's formulaic, boring episode's.
Bordello of Blood (1996)
Tales from the crapper: the Lost files
My gosh, this has to be one of the worst TV show based movies that I've ever seen. Dennis Miller is not funny, Sly Stallone's girlfriend at the time was not sexy or even remotely interesting oh, and the story wasn't either.
Dennis Miller plays a washed-up PI who gets the case of the lifetime from a reserved Catholic blond, who is the secretary for a rock and roll Church and her brother, who is played by Corey Feldman, went to an orgy and never came back. Happens all the time right?
Dennis Miller decides to investigate after our blond friend pays him to find out what happened to her brother. Sounds like it might be good right? If you think that, you're As dead wrong As the Crypt Keeper himself.
The writing is horrible, the pacing is horrible and Dennis Miller's quips throughout the film are neither funny, nor relevant and sometimes even so obscure that only Quentin Tarantino would know what he's talking about.
There's a reason why this movie is not rated above a 5-star, honestly it should be below a five-star, it's horrible and one of the worst Tales from the Crypt movies ever. It's the whole reason why we didn't get a third movie.
If anybody tells you that this movie is good, they are lying to you or either have extremely poor taste in cinema. Don't bother with this one. By the time I hit the 45-minute Mark I was riding an Agony while reaching for the clickie and hitting skip until I got to the horrible, no good ending.
Kaguya-sama wa kokurasetai ~ Tensai tachi no ren'ai zunô sen ~ (2019)
The manga is better, in that the narration is by you instead of whoever they chose to narriate, who is terrible
I really wanted to like this series, but could not get into the weird editing, narration, but loved the amazing voice actors and actresses. Bad production, narriation and weird animation style makes this series unwatable.
Read the manga instead and narriate thr story yourself. It'll be 1000% better than this narriation and animation.
Asobi Asobase (2018)
12 episodes of pure gold.
This has to be one of the funniest anime's I've seen since Shimoneta. Asobi is set around 3 high school girls that are quirky, to say the least, and form a club called "The Pastimers Club" and from the first eipsode we get to see a teacher taste, what he presumes is urine, and we even get to see some traditional Japanese pastimes, which are close to our Indian Burns, and Swirlies in that they are more to inflict pain rather than fun, but you'll have fun watching it.
It's offbeat and funny as heck.
A Christmas Carol (2019)
Horrendous! Full of cursing, sex and just all around crass and even chock full of girl-power scenes
I could not believe my eyes that this horrible retelling of Charles dickens's A Christmas Carol came on at 7:30 pm. There was cursing, sex scenes and even sexual innuendos. I could not believe that this was on around this time. Shows like this are usually reserved for after 10 p.m. for a reason, because children should not be watching it. Children should not watch this horrible retelling of the story, parents beware.
The cast is horrible, the story is horrible and this modern retelling is both pessimistic, without Joy and really without life as well.
Tiny Tim's family only has two children, instead of 5, and his mother is inexplicably African-American, and there is needless, unrealistic diversity throughout this entire film that is not something that you would see during that time. Adding diversity to a cast, of a film that is set in the late 1800s does not add to the story whatsoever. What does instead is really solidified it is story does not have any basis in reality and makes it so that a lot of people can't connect with it, since it's not historically correct. Interracial marriage was not something that was practiced until much later in human history.
Scrooge is a disgusting, horrible man that makes Tiny Tim's mother try to go down on him and prostitute herself out to him so that she can make enough money to eat on Christmas day, but right before she's about to disrobe Scrooge he decides, as well as play production company I guess, that that's a little too much and that they should stop oh, but that is not stop the string of curses that you get to hear throughout the entire film.
What is a Christmas carol but a tale of redemption? We don't even see that in here. We don't even see the spirits conjured by themselves, apparently Tiny Tim's mother can conjure the spirits herself, which makes zero sense, but conjure them she does and watch with shock and awe you will, at how absolutely horrible it gets after this.
It's like they've never read the story, as the spirits do come in chronological order, but at the same time may as well be in reverse order, with a little bit of girl power added to it as well with the weird scientist Twist on how the woman has to prove to Scrooge that love exists.
Did I also mention that they made some terrible back story about Scrooge getting molested by somebody at an orphanage after his father abandoned him as a child? Hey sister comes in murders the man and free's Scrooge, yet another bright and Chippy part of this story.
All of the other ghosts are boring, and may as well be the are Polar Opposites of what they actually are, as this story is a polar opposite of what A Christmas Carol is actually about.
A Christmas Carol is about Redemption and how we all have the ability to stop being pessimistic, meme rude and horrible to each other and that we can learn to love each other and love life again, but we don't even get to see that. It stays pessimistic, and never turns bright. Danny was rushed and horrible and so is this rendition of this story.
At the end of the FX should be ashamed at how they ruined a perfectly good story and they should not touch Classics ever again.
The Witcher (2019)
The Morrowwind/Oblivion esque soundtrack really makes this series fun, but writing, and acting makes it unbearable to watch
This series is not what the commercials showed me. I thought that this series was going to have a Witcher 3: Wild Hunt vibe to it, but it ended up being what I imagine a bad fan fiction would look like on the screen.
I can't believe that Netflix green lit this series. It is so incredibly horrible. The timeline, screen transitions and random story transitions make absolutely no sense whatsoever. This show is a hot mess and cannot seem to find a place to stand still and really look at itself and come up with a storyline that's actually watchable.
The dialogue is wooden, the acting is wooden and honestly the sword-fighting is incredible and how bad it is. What's in the first episode, we see our main character holding a longsword not on its side, aka the sharp end, but fully flat and somehow defeating and defending against multiple enemies. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
Then there Comes The Script, which may as well have been written by the people who wrote Morrowind and Oblivion, with the soundtrack to go with it. That's how good the dialogue is.
Henry Cavill tries, and I really do mean that he does try oh, but you can't save yourself from a bad script, bad writers, a bad Supporting Cast and finally a horrible director and cinematographer.
Even though this is a professional production, it feels amateurish and very YouTube fanfiction series esque.
I would not recommend this series to anybody who has read the books, play the games, or even seen a decent fantasy movie. If you seen a decent fantasy game, movie or show go and watch that instead, or even re-watch it instead of watching this terrible series.
The only real good thing about this series was the commercials. The commercials completely lied to you and made it seem like it was going to be very Witcher 3 the wild Hunt esque, but what we get instead is more like the Oblivion NPC conversation memes, the show.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Unequivocally the worst movie I've ever seen.
This movie is horrible and possibly one of the worst movies ever made. If you thought part 1 was bad, get ready. This is a billion times worse.
Bill Skarsgard trys, but untimely fails yet again as Pennywise the Clown, and the story, which was unbelievable in both the book and the TV Mini series (but at least watchable), is even more unbelievable in this one.
Native American's "sealed" Pennywise years ago, and now the grown uo Losers Club, which they all truly are with the lackluster and horrible performances given and acted in this role, have to perform a "ritual" with some crappy leather container to "finally defeat and seal" Pennywise the Clown, but instead it turns into flashbacks for almost 2 hours.
The first hour and 45 minutes are watchable, if you call over the top, horrible CGI watchable, then sure, but it does get better. We get a cameo by Mr. Moneybags A.K.A. I don't give a crap anymore give me your money, Mr. Steven King who has the gall to show up in this stinker. His cameo is short, but is the only real good part of the entire 2 horus and 45 minutes of this film. That's around the hour and 25 minute mark, get ready for the rest.
The rest of the film is all flashbacks until the last 20 or so minutes. When I paused an hour and 45 minutes left and saw that I still had an hour left, I started skipping scenes and found that I didn't miss much. The ending shows the Losers facing down Pennywise, not in a spider form, but some crappy worm thing, a fight ensues, everybody sings kamiya and Pennywise deflates and is sealed away. The remaning losers jump into the lake where they jumped as kids and the fat kid gets the girl and stutter cries and that's it man
I Am the Night (2019)
Slow, but keeps you interested
I thought that this series was enjoyable, easy to consume and binge, but it is slow and hard to keep interested in at times, but there is always your phone to keep you company while boring series like these.
I can't believe that Patty Jenkins said yes to directing this series. The writing pace is so agonizingly slow at some parts, yet quick and fun at other times absurdly dull.
The re-imagining of the "supposed" Black Dhalia murder is a bad concept in practice. It does have some traces of Odell's son's story, but is otherwise devoid of any real, true evidence of the real case.
