EPIC, EXHILARATING and a experience of a lifetime
12 March 2024
I never imagined that watching a movie would ever give me a profound experience of life. That is what I felt once the credit started rolling after the last frame.

I was teary-eyed due to overwhelming emotions.

It was surreal.

I was lost in the world of Dune!!

I now understand why generations define their eras through movies. Because Dune is that movie for me!!

Wow!! Is this how it feels?!!

You know a particular movie is the 'one' when you only think about the world, the characters, and the whole experience, not the people behind it, as they didn't leave any stones unturned in bringing this masterpiece alive!!

An era defining movie

There are movies that makes you think and there are movies that changes your way of watching movies & your life. Spadikam is one such movie. I was 10 yrs old when I saw spadikam with my dad. I have never been exposed to a drama till then. But my god this was a life changing experience. Never during any moment I was bored. I was instantly hooked. Maybe the central theme of a father son conflict was the reason and i was kind of going through a similar phase with my dad.

There are few instances where the supporting actor overshadow the lead. Thilakan is one such actor of that leagues along with Marlon Brando, heath ledger, etc.

I think the reason mohanlal gave a tremendous performance because he must have been intimidated by Thilakan's performance.

This is the movie where you can understand the importance of director. Bhadran just knocked it out of the park.

The songs are classic along with the background score.

The screenplay is clear.

I have watched this movie multiple times and never been able to find a technical flaw.

Spadikam will always be in my top 10 movies of all time.

PS. Silk Smitha was a bomb in this movie.

Underrated classic
29 July 2022
Although this movie is not in the level of Godfather, in harihar nagar and all other classics comedies of the 90s; it has its tons of hilarious moments. Mamooty did an outstanding job. But the supporting casts of Cochin haneefa, innocent, harishri Ashokan along with the villians made the movie a entertaining ride.

This movie was just pure masala fun with no vulgar or cringe moments.

A dying style of movie making in today's era.

Shattered dreams

One of the finely crafted classic movie from the golden age of Malayalam movies.

Great acting, writing, direction, and special mention to MGs kaneer poovinde takes you to a emotional journey of a man who did right as a son and still got persecuted terribly by his family, friends and society.

As a child when I saw the movie I always wondered why sethu was treated like this?? But in my adulthood I realised that's life. Sometime the things you do thinking is right may be wrong to others and this implies in every aspects of our life.

No matter how technically and visually today's movies are; it will never have one thing that the movies of golden era had!! That's HEART

Way ahead of its time
3 May 2020
I had watched this movie once in my childhood a and had totally forgot about it. But the train accident scene and later the plastic toy boat floating in the water; that scene was stuck in my mind for so many years. Very recently I came across this movie in YouTube and I was shocked that the scene playing in mind was from this movie. It had such a great impact.

I was mindblowned by the visuals, editings and the cinematography. It was way to ahead of its time for Malayalam cinema.

Although it's a classic, I really wish someone should remake it.

With the technology available today and the present brilliant talents in the Malayalam industry, it would not go wrong.

Great potential

I love Apocalyptic shows or movies; especially one without zombies and monsters. Give them a more grounded and realistic approach. The threat is real and the plan is also not bad. Actually with much more budget and good writing it would have been an awesome series. Netflix have been doing a good job with international shows with Money Heist, The Kingdom(Korean) and Dark(German). I hope this show get some recognition because I am looking forward to season 2 despite its flaws.

Although I don't agree with the so called modern feminist movements completely; I agree with the issue conveyed in this movie. Oppression on women is something that still exist in the uppermost and lowermost part of our society. Slap & domestic violence is the most serious of them all and it has been flawlessly depicted.

Kudos to everyone behind this movie

Game changer

Vetrimaran is a director in a league of its own for the likes of Anurag Kashyap and Martin Scorcese. He knows how to utilise the actors according to the story and script. This movie is a cinematic brilliance with all the necessary cultural significance.
