Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016–2017)

You can see where it went wrong

When i saw the first episode i thought this is a fresh new idea. With the ongoing story i liked that series less and less. This is one of that series where you can literally see what they originally wanted to make and where it failed.

The main character Gently is really bad acted. You just do not believe him his behavior. He looks all the time like the very boring class nerd trying to be funny for the first time in his live.

There are several other characters which are also just bad acted and several other which are really great. Todd is believable and the killer girl is also playing her role great. But there are just way to much bad acted characters to still enjoy the show.

The story line itself is also way to artificial. It often feels like they asked an assistant to quickly come up with an idea to fill a plot hole.

And finally the "modern girl" problematic. Like in nearby every freaking other series this days every man is a complete idiot or just crazy and the only people with common sense or any useful skills are girls. Getting this left wing 3rd wave feminism propaganda served like a "modern" idea for a show over and over and over again is for everyone now really just a pain in the ass. For me it instantly kills the enjoyment of a show or a movie. I want to get entertained without some badly hidden cultural marxist reeducation.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

This is not Star Trek

I stopped watching this movie after half an hour. This is not Star Trek. Not even close. If you want to make a fun movie about space and lasers and people jumping around like bunnies on LSD just make another Guardians of the galaxy movie. (Wich was a greate movie by the way)

Star Trek is about interesting SF concepts and space phenomena, interstellar politics, social interaction with alien races and now and then a space battle.

This whole new series of parallel universe Star Trek movies is just a cheap ripoff of one of the best franchises ever made. They cannibalized it for fast profit and killed their long term profit.

Even if you would have wanted to bring a bit more action to a new series of Star Trek movies there would have been a more enjoyable way to do this. What people are waiting for decades is the untold story of the Klingon wars. A new series about the Klingon wars would have been the most profitable thing that would have been ever created and all fans would have loved it.

Instead they just made a remake of Captain Kirks Star Trek and killed his character. RIP Captain Kirk and RIP Star Trek franchise.

Stranger Things (2016–2025)

Netflix found what regular TV had lost

I read here and there some comments about this show and how great it is. This and ratings on IMDb mean nothing. Nowadays TV shows became so bad that even the biggest crap is glorified.

The moment i started watching the show, seeing four boys are playing dungons and dragons, that gave me a smile and remembered me about my own childhood. But i was highly suspicious because of the black boy.

I thought the moment they will glorify this black kid as especially brave, super talented or smarter then everyone else i will switch this thing off and forget about it. Because i am just sick of the political correctness bull where they always add some under laying social education to every show. The same i thought about overly heroic girls or any social justice non sens which may appear.

But it never happened. The black kid was just a kid, the girl even when she had super powers was just a 12 year old girl and acted like one. Not only one social justice propaganda or even any cliché was seen in the whole series.

To be honest, i binge watched it! :) It was brilliant. Just a good story, very well acted and the characters where just regular people. Enjoyable from the beginning to the end.

And that's how you not suck at making a good TV show. Just stick by your story and spare us the social education.

Time Traveling Bong (2016)

This is a show for drunken trailer park trash

To be honest i did not watch a whole episode of this. This garbage is unwatchable. I fast forwarded through two episodes to find exactly what i expected.

The actors are not even trying, because there is no reason for any acting. The script ... i do not know if they even had any or just took randomly costumes out of the closet and talked profane bullshit to it. The jokes are like a very very bad reenactment of 90s slacker movies and not funny at all. (unless you are trailer park trash and completely drunk your brains away with a mixture of moonshine and antifreeze)

The rating of shows like this is the reason why you know that there is a way to rig the IMDb ratings. Unless more then half of the users of IMDb are drooling idiots this show would never get more then a two out of 10. And the only reason for this two instead of one is that there are for sure some 13 year old boys who are fans of blurred tits and cavemen rape jokes.
