A love letter for the legend, Stan Lee and to fans of Spider-Man as a whole.
3 January 2019
Best animated superhero movie out there. It almost makes me want to trust Sony again... almost, since the Emoji Movie, Ghostbusters '16 and the other endless trash they've put out recently like those horrid Adam Sandler junk are still out there and it severely dampens my view on them.

BUT if they still want to make another Spider-Man-esque film franchise again that doesn't feel like a forced, half-assed, desperate cash grab *cough* TASM *cough* Venom, then this is a really solid start and I would love to see more of it, as long as it's good of course. Like seriously, this film is what a Spider-Man movie should be AND more! it just oozes with uniqueness, mainly due to the animation style and its colorful band of characters.

The only flaws I had with this film was the slight misuse of the soundtrack since there were a scene or two where it didn't fit in with the moment shown. The story was also quite clichéd for the most part, but there are some decent twists here and there. Overall I don't think the flaws I listed out won't bother the average movie-goer that much and this film is still a blast even if you don't have much prior knowledge about Spider-Man in the comics or films, though they would help in understanding the plethora of Spider-references this movie has.

Props to the crew and cast who worked on this fantastic film, they truly deserve the praise. 2018 truly was the best year for us Spider-Man fans in a long time. Stan Lee would be at peace knowing his greatest creation has flourished from the humble beginnings on paper, to the grandiose state of stardom in the fictional world and pop culture.

Sausage Party (2016)
5/10
Weird, obscene and just plain out offensive but quite enjoyable to watch.
17 September 2016
Okay, to start this off: this movie is definitely NOT for kids. It definitely deserves its R-rating. Sausage Party is one of those movies that will make you say: what the hell am I watching?

To be frank(see what I did there?), this movie fulfilled every bit of expectation I had, no more and no less in its "well, I think I've seen enough" factor. What I mean by that, is that this is the most vulgar and xenophobic animated movie I've ever seen but in a good way. As obnoxious as this movie is, I can't help but giggle half the time when I'm watching it, even though how disgusting and indecent some of the scenes are, especially at the end. And mostly because of that, I will never see food the same way ever again(the animation is pretty good though).

Maybe my only true complaint about this movie was the ending, since it seems it was just tacked in there "just because" but to be fair, the movie was already weird as it is. So yeah, the ending for me felt kinda random and I feel that it should've ended in that particular scene before it but overall, I don't think it won't affect what most people thought about this film. Though I expect that this movie will offend a lot of people but to hell with that! let your immature side take over for a while and enjoy this film about food getting it on and on and on..... and on.

If you like humor that is both weird and outrageously crass but still remotely funny, then look no further since Sausage Party is the movie for you.

A mediocre film with a few good parts.
23 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I think it's safe to say that this movie was somewhat of a disappointment especially for the comic-book fans. Not saying that it's garbage or anything but this film is basically the definition of mediocrity and the term: "all flash but no substance".

Let me start up on the things that I liked about this movie: some scenes, especially the action scenes were actually pretty good and visually pleasant, the movie has a solid amount of grit as well, also Ben Affleck's Batman was kick-ass especially on the warehouse scene but sadly all the good stuff ends there, moving on...

Now for the things I disliked and hated about this movie. For starters, the movie felt rushed and disjointed, it basically crammed multiple comic-book story arcs in one movie, the pacing was also pretty damn bad, going back and forth on scenes all of a sudden, not to mention the stupid amount of plot holes in this movie. I also hated how they handled most of the characters, especially the main villain Lex Luthor(Jr?) or should I say "discount Heath Ledger Joker", he was just an annoying character in this movie with no actual motive whatsoever and unlike the ACTUAL Lex in the comics who is manipulative, cunning and intimidating, he ended up as a weird, spastic, socially awkward twerp that isn't scary AT ALL. Then there's the cave troll looking Doomsday, just.... ugh, honestly speaking, he was basically shoehorned in the movie because of reasons unknown and the character was pretty much wasted in the end(great f*cking job Zack and co.). Lois Lane's character was pretty bland as well, she basically did nothing in the movie and her little adventure on finding where that bullet came from didn't help either and speaking of bland characters, Superman/Clark Kent was also quite shallow and like Batman, is brooding for most of the time ever since Man of Steel, even though his character is not intended that way(again, great job Hack), he wasn't even that much of a character in his own damn movie. I even have problems with Batman's character even though he was quite badass but where's that world's greatest detective I grew up with? he got outsmarted by a retarded version of Lex Luthor for Christ's sake, not to mention that this version of Batman has no willpower or essence of justice and won't hesitate killing those who he deems guilty, unless their mother is named Martha(don't get mad, I know the meaning of that scene but it's still stupidly executed). Maybe the only character I actually liked to the fullest was Alfred so kudos for Jeremy Irons delivering a solid performance on a not so solid movie, Gal Gadot was also decent as WW but in the end I didn't care for her that much, honestly, she felt kinda shoehorned as well but it was nowhere near as bad as Doomsfail though. The fight between Bats and Supes was also somewhat disappointing, yeah it has some awesome visuals and kick-ass cinematography on the beatdown but it felt REALLY short, it didn't even last 10 minutes yet they call the main title of this movie Batman VS Superman? should've called it BS instead and I'm not even gonna bother on that forced scene on how they made up since I already explained it. They even killed-off Superman already in this movie or did they? either way it was a bad move since they already murdered his character figuratively and literally, and even if he does come back which is highly likely as evident on that ending scene, it'll just end up cheap and remove most of the tension on the upcoming films with him since they already did the death of Superman storyline, so RIP.

Overall, I think Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was a not so decent film, was it bad? maybe, was it garbage? maybe not but it is indeed a disappointment to most comic-book and non comic-book fans out there, unless you're a zealot fanboy or you just enjoy watching these kinds of movies then I have no quarrel with you but I for one did not like this film and demand better quality than just basic fan-service. I just hope DC tries better on their next installations on their cinematic universe because I'm not too fond on how they're handling their movies right now.

Another one has joined the MCU's best.
27 April 2016
Marvel and the Russo Brothers did it again! to simply put, it's a spectacular film overall.

Captain America: Civil War has all the things that makes a comic- book movie an enjoyable blast. It's entertaining, it's emotional, it has action-packed scenes that will leave you at the edge of your seat and of course, it certainly has humor in it and just the right amount as well so it won't come out as a jarring or brooding movie experience. This is what a blockbuster film should be.

My main fear before watching this movie was how were they going to handle this amount of characters in one film since even the last Avengers movie: Age of Ultron had a difficult time in doing so. After watching it though, all I got to say is that it surpassed almost every bit of expectation I had and gave each of our heroes their spotlight moments which allowed them to standout in the movie in their own way which the Russos did flawlessly especially the newly introduced character Black Panther which they also nailed perfectly and served as a strong introduction for those who don't read the comics and aren't familiar about his character at all.

Maybe my only problem with this film is that it's vastly different from it's comic counterpart but I do understand that the MCU is trying something different so I won't bitch about it too much. The villain didn't bothered me as much as people say it was, though his plan was a little too intricate, he was still an exceptionally good villain with a legit motive but I do agree with some people that he didn't need to be in this movie since it's already filled with the necessary conflict that would otherwise make it a thrilling film.

Now for my final thoughts about Captain America: Civil War. If you enjoy comic-book or superhero films as a whole with no bias, this movie is a must see and you'll probably enjoy the hell out of it. This movie proves that a film can satisfy the fans, the general audience AND the critics all at the same time.
