Million Dollar Baby (2004)
I need more
Wow... this movie is Oscar worthy and it did win 4 Oscars. At first I thought that it was going to be some sort of feel good movie where she overcomes the odds and becomes a champion, but I was completely wrong the minute she hit that seat and broke here neck i was hooked and didn't even want to blink to see what happened next. But even though it had its moments it was pretty boring. It had some good plot turns and it was entertaining and all but its not one of those movies that you can really go back and watch again. I'm not saying it wasn't good but sometimes it kind of just drags along almost putting you to sleep. Good but depressing ending. But i wanted a little more out of it after it ended i just said wait what happens next it just ends there you don't know what happens to Clint Eastwoods character the women boxer who put Maggie in the hospital or Maggie's family. 7/10 Great story, but it drags on a bit, and it needs a little more.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Best of British comedy. period
This movie is amazing. The first time i saw this movie i fell on the ground and almost past out laughing. The men of the Monty Python crew know how to make a movie and a great one at that. Killer Rabit comedy gold, the holy hand grenade "tho must count to three but not past three". This movie is the best of Britsh comedy and every other British comedy will be held up to its standards. The french man on in the castle may have been one of the funniest characters ever "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of hallaberrys". The knights of "Ni" absolute genius. This movie is amazing it had comedy gold written all over it before it was even put into production. 9/10 I highly recommend any Monty Python movie.
Metallica: Cliff 'Em All! (1987)
RIP Cliff
Yes Cliff Burton, one of the greatest bassists ever who sadly died before his talent could be greatly appreciated. In this collection of videos you get and inside look at who Cliff really was. You see home videos, concert clips and jam sessions. As you see his jaw dropping bass solos. Not only that but you get the chance to see a legendary band in their early years before the mainstream took them away and fed their egos until that was all that they had. Before napster, before St.Anger. The early years... the good years. From Kill em' all to Master of puppets marvel at the greatness of this band, marvel at the talent of Cliff Burton. 8/10 Great look at a great band in the early years.
Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004)
Wrong band for this type of documentary
Yes its metallica.... but it makes me ashamed to call myself a metallica fan when i watch this movie. Yea i know its a great documentary and it did give me new sight into the making of St.Anger. But every member of the band in that movie is acting like a little b***h. But thats aside the point. This was a great documentary and gave you a look into how hard it is to keep a band together (even if you have to hire a therapist). It showed you how determined they where to stay a band and to try (try being the key word here) to please the fans. Good documentary great look into how hard it is to make a recored and try and keep a band together at the same time. 5/10 Good Documentary... but the wrong band to do one.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
British Humor at its best
This is a great movie. I hold this up to the likes of Monty Python. It is one of the best spoofs i have seen in years. Ed is a great character funny as hell. Just the way it was made was genius i couldn't stop laughing. They did a great job with the zombies to. The effects were very good as well, that one scene where David is yanked out of Westchester and is torn open by the zombies actually looked really good. Tosing the old records at the zombies, beating them with cricket bats... Genius. In the end everyone uses zombies for everyday tasks, on the game show, and the jerry springer spoof. I loved every minute of it. 8/10 British Humor at its best.
Mallrats (1995)
Forget the critics
This is a movie that is considered Smiths worst, it is even a movie that Kevin himself had apologized for making. Critics bash it but you know what i say to them.... f**k them.... who cares what they say, for they are completely wrong. This movie is genius. Yes this movie was not as good a 'Clerks.'. But it is still a great movie. It is a very funny movie and you still get the same genius dialogue that you get in 'Clerks.'. Plus this movie introduced the world to a great actor Jason Lee who is one of my favorite actors. I think it was better than 'Chasing Amy' and i am in no way saying that 'Chasing Amy' was a bad movie but i enjoyed mallrats more. Anyway great movie 8/10.
Clerks (1994)
One of the greatest Independnt films of all time
What can be said about this movie that has not already been said? I love this movie. In fact it is my favorite movie. Kevin Smith is a genius. He did this this perfectly the minute it hits the 37 scene it is complete gold. Randel is one of the funniest characters ever. And in this movie we are introduced to View Askews most memorable characters Jay and Silent Bob. This is a fantastic movie one of the greatest independent movies ever. And the premiere of a great comic mind writer/directer Kevin Smith. I have yet to find a person that disagrees with me. I highly recommend this movie. Everyone should see it. 9/10 amazing movie.
