Chernobyl (2019)
Wow!
This is without a doubt the best thing I have ever watched. The production, the sound, the acting, the dialogue, the storytelling... If you haven't seen it yet, what are you doing with your life?
The Walking Dead: Sing Me a Song (2016)
Walking dead is back on track
Even though I haven't been to harsh on the walking dead after the past few episodes, many people seem to have been quite disappointed. Falling ratings, bad reviews and people lashing out over the smallest faults. I can't see how people will be disappointed after this episode, it was great. I however enjoyed these episodes a lot, even the last one with Tara, it was OK. Nothing special, but not terrible either as many people thought, this episode however. This is one of the best episodes for a long time. Let's go over what makes it great:
Chandler Riggs really stepped up his performance this episode, when I saw the first scene of him killing two Saviours, I thought his performance was really bad, but that was the only scene that was off on his part. He and JDM showcased some great acting chemistry and every scene was an emotional roller coaster.
Their plot, oh boy we can talk about ripping pages straight out of the comics, very well portrayed on the screen. As a comic reader, this was by far the best story line of the episode. Negan just playing with Carl, but still showing a very humane side and the iron scene to show how the Saviours work as a group.
The scene later on with Negan and Olivia had me cracking up, it was great and I think they are trying to make Olivia a more important character, It just feels like they are trying to set up some kind of story for the future, nothing else about it right now.
Now on to the story line with Spencer and Gabriel. That scene was hilarious! Gabriel totally owned Spencer(that whiny guy) and really showed what a transformation he has made(much faster than the comics) and really showcased how loyal he is to Rick and his group.
The next story is Rick and Aaron out looking for supplies, not really much to say about this, it will be continued. Too early to say anything more about it.
The next separate story this episode is Michonne, this one is my main issue with this episode. I felt like it was way out of character for her to do that, she is way to loyal to Rick and the group to do something like this, it felt weird and not like her at all.
I think it is Jesus who slipped the key to Daryl and that we will be seeing Daryl with our group soon enough.
Now on to the final story, Eugene and Rosita. I feel like this was only there to show that Eugene actually knows how to make bullets. Rosita is not going to use the one she got in any important way soon, this was just for the war to come, they will need the bullets later.
The best thing about this episode was that they showed that they can pull of several story lines in one episode. Why have they not done this for the entire season? That is one question I have no answer to.
I am really looking forward to the mid season finale and I am seeing a really bright future for the show.
Conclusion:
+Acting.
+Staying true to the comics.
+Ninja Jesus.
+Separate story lines in one episode.
+Gabriel.
-Michonne felt out of character.
Final verdict: 9.2/10
The Walking Dead: Swear (2016)
A really solid filler!
I was really skeptical at first after reading it was going to be a Tara and Heath episode, but after watching it I really feel like this was worth my time.
It contained everything I need from a Walking Dead episode: A little bit of action, great dialogue, some plot movement and character growth.
The acting was really good as usual, especially Heath. When he spoke in the RV it really felt true to me and that was one of the scenes with some character growth. The other part of the episode with character growth was the ending, it just felt a little lackluster that they left out the scene where she got to know they were dead, nothing huge though.
For a filler episode this contained one huge plot advancement, as a comic book reader this was a great twist, as I did not expect to see Oceanside this early. I can understand that some none comic-readers feel like they are introducing way too many characters at once, just bare with us, they are setting up for something huge and all these groups will be necessary for the plot that is coming to us.
+Acting
+Oceanside
+Character growth
-Leaving out one important scene
Final Verdict: 8.1/10
Legends of Tomorrow: Abominations (2016)
Best episode of the show so far
Best episode of the show to this point and Jefferson Jackson is the star. I have never been emotionally touched by this show previously, except during the death of Snart. This episode however took me down the feels-train. The scene when Jefferson was talking to the slaves and when they started to sing was an emotional punch in my face, unlike the rest of the show. Don't get me wrong, I do like Legends, but this episode was something special.
The zombies were great and the episode was really well balanced with talking, fighting and character development.
Overall a great episode and I really look forward to the rest of the season.
