The Last Kingdom (2015)
Bored of this now.
Every episode seems the same. It's battle after battle, someone new being tortured, another seemingly unimportant female character gets traded or "humped". In trying to breathe life into historical events, they have managed to make something as dry as the ancient books themselves.
I was hopeful that this series might follow a little more like Vikings which had some really interesting characters and dynamics between them. This completely falls flat. None of the characters are likeable, least of all the main character.
The only positive point is shirtless men, but I'm even bored of that now. Does it get any better? I doubt it.
How on Earth is there a film to accompany the series too? I stopped in series 2.
You: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? (2023)
What nonsense.
After the awful 3rd series, I thought I'd hate this series. But actually, all the quirky characters made me quite enjoy it.
But this episode was just...shocking. I really wish someone would just shiv Joe in the neck and get this show over with.
The moment that lost me at why Nadia didn't call the police right away. Maryanne's pathetic explanation (Because "Joe always gets away with it") just seemed a way of prolonging this torture. If he always gets away with it, that would've been much more interesting to watch how he disproves involvement in court than this nonsense.
I'm done.
Given at least 1 star coz Ed Speleers is hot.
Heartstopper: Boyfriend (2022)
Oh my gosh - I broke.
Now, I'm a 32 y/o gay man and I like to think that I'm quite in charge of my emotions. I was never out in school - but my word, the part where Charlie says: "maybe I do just ruin peoples lives. Maybe it would be better if I didn't exist." Just absolutely broke me. I think this is a common LGBT+ experience - and I'm glad that this story is being told. Thank you all for this.
A Discovery of Witches: Episode #3.6 (2022)
What am I missing?
I don't know what I'm missing - but I've struggled through three series now and I still don't care about any of these characters. The saving grace is Edward Bluemel's character who has a bit of substance about him.
His Dark Materials (2019)
Meh
Underwhelmed by the show so far. A not-so-subtle critique on church and religion...
