New twist on a cooking competition show
22 August 2022
Really enjoyed The Great American Recipe. Home cooks represented many diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and prepared unique and interesting recipes. And they all got along; no cut-throat maneuvers in any episodes. Great show to watch if you are into cooking shows.

Mindless Fun

Yes it's silly but it's a lot of fun to watch. Lots of comedic moments which are pretty funny.

Sad and Confusing
9 July 2021
I almost gave up on this show after episode 2, growing weary of this family: the inflexible but affable father, annoying mother and surly son. The most enjoyable aspect were the travel settings like Paris and Amsterdam. But decided to stick with it and felt episodes 3 and 4 were much more engrossing. Tom Hollander as Douglas carried the show. But in the end, this show about love, loss, reconciliation made no sense. Connie, the mother, was the happiest unhappy wife I've seen on the screen.

Improbable Plot

It had all the makings of a good mini series: missing child, mysterious circumstances, a decent ensemble cast, enough clues to keep you interested. But by episode 4, the series took a deep descent into the ridiculous. The silly and disappointing ending leaves you frustrated that you wasted 4 hours watching this rotten tomato.

Hard to believe the script made it to production. Silly and implausible. Two stars because it's good to see Claudia Cardinale on screen again.
