Obliterated (2023)
Finally adult entertainment for adults. Very well done!
So this series is James Bond with better acting and more diversity and adult themes. It held my interest from beginning to end. It is well above the 5 rating it's received so far but any series or movie highlighting minorities, especially strong women, is never going to be rated high by certain elements. There is a lot of nudity, which is fine. I'm heterosexual and prefer female nudity, but even the male nudity was good (and funny) in this series. This is a rare Netflix gem. The acting is superb and the characters are well developed. Please Netflix give us more like this so I can drop my Max subscription!
Barbarian (2022)
AirBB in boarded up neighborhood
So, for starters, people who seem to be somewhat wealthy, would never stay in an Airbnb in a neighborhood where all the houses on the street besides the Airbnb are boarded up. I am not overly wealthy, and I would simply have turned around and driven away and never looked back. Instead, these people not only stay, they go exploring into the dark underground secret rooms in the basement. We are led to believe that a man was keeping women down there, raping them, and having multiple children with them however, we only see one man and one woman we have no idea if this is one of the children one of the women he kept down there or what she is but she has superhuman power which makes no sense. This could've been really great movie if they would've just expanded on what the hell was going on in those underground rooms but we're left with only seeing two of them and one immediately killed himself, so no explanation there. Where are all these other women and babies at? Who invests in these movies? Does anyone proofread these things or watch it before it is released? Honestly, I think high schoolers could make better movies then some of these things that they are making nowadays. And shame on the obviously paid shills that are giving this thing good reviews.
Flint Town (2018)
Make police work look boring
This show is more about public meetings and politics than about police on the job. I imagine the high ratings are from the blue line people. But there's very little actual blue here. If there's anything more boring than going to a local city council meeting, it is watching one on tv. And the few police scenes are mostly them whining about being understaffed and overworked. It's a shame because I used to love realty cop shows, and the idea of one in the high crime area of Flint was especially an exciting prospect. But whoever produced this managed to make it a complete and tool borefest. Very sad.
Play Dead (2022)
Terrible lead actress
The lead actress was so bad that I was actually hoping she would get caught by the bad guy. Overall the script was good and the movie had potential. McConnell was about as good as he's been in any movie which is to say about adequate. I believe if this movie would have spent a little more money on acting and backgrounds it could have been way better. For example almost the whole movie is in what is supposed to be dreary underground morgue. We almost never leave the morgue with the exception of a few video phone calls. Not usually a fan of flashbacks but anything to get out of the morgue would've been welcomed.
To Leslie (2022)
Too unrealistic
Andrea Riseborough s great in everything she does however the amount of suspension of belief was way too much in this film. First of all a pretty girl down and out and drug addicted (a fact the movie mentioned but never showed) would never recover without a long term in-patient program. Also a girl in this position would have "turned out" voluntarily or not, long ago. No one is getting a free ride anymore and the amount of good samaritans Leslie finds are more than could possibly be expected in the real world. Finally why would her son, who lives in the same town, not be a part of her building and opening an ice cream store? He shows up heroically at the grand opening, where was he all year? Just a ridiculous movie on so many levels. I know the cast advocated for their own accolades which is also sad and deplorable.
Jailbirds (2019)
Focuses on Inmates
So many of these jail shows go downhill when the start interviewing the cameramen, guards, producers etc. So far this series is staying focused on the inmates which will allow it to keep ratings and stay around. Could use less focus on the more boring inmates and the rapping. But so far very compelling. Hopefully it will stay about the interesting (Nantes and ignore the guards and the guards boring narratives. The more interesting inmates tend to be the younger ones that have more to los4 and still have hope to rehabilitate and do well in life. It gets boring when the show talks at length to the lifers.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Boring child-friendly version of original
This movie is more of a PG rating lots of violence but definitely more geared towards children and families. Sad that such a good looking franchise took such a turn downhill so quickly. It was also very confusing in the original art the clown was a human but in this sequel he seems to be supernatural. I liked him more as a joker character than a Michael Myers which is what he's turning out to be now. The movie itself jumps around and supposedly there are things to be explained in the third installment however with this installment being so bad I doubt there will be a 3rd. Hopefully not anyway..
60 Days In: Narcoland (2019)
Boring
As with most of these type of shows the producers fall in love with the people going in and the law enforcement officers and focus on them instead of chasing the bad guys. I literally saw one law enforcement officer say the same exact thing three times as if we didn't hear it the first time, they kept replaying it. It was a completely boring show and big disappointment. I wish plain old Cops would come back.
O Escolhido (2019)
This show as it all
Suspense, thrills, laughs. This series is well written and acted. The character Enzo's sense of humor is timed perfectly and all the main characters are developed and the viewer can grow to like or dislike them depending on their perception. The lead female role is also well acted. This young lady has a bright future. 10 out of 10 all the way.
V-Wars (2019)
The lead actor makes the show
I watched this show when I heard a radio host talk about how he couldn't stop watching it even though the writing was terrible. I agree the concept is very interesting and the acting is good, especially Ian Somerhalder who I happen to like personally because of his charity work. If you can endure the cliched writing, it is an entertaining series, with some interesting scientific theory, that I personally felt was well invested time.
Sheltered (2010)
Awful
The acting, story and directing are all bad. The plot is easy enough to follow but many of the characters actions make no sense. This move is bad on every level and a complete waste of time.
The Craving (2008)
Great low budget entertainment
This movie was part of the Highway to Hell 6 horror movie DVD. Honesty it was by far the best of the 6 and made the DVD worth it. The acting is good, directing and the story is entertaining. If you like low budget horror you will love this one.
Delirium (2007)
Great no frills film.
An actress that has real promise, Wren, was really good in this. Overall none of the acting was that bad. This film really entertains on an obviously low budget. Good sexual chemistry.
The Ridge (2005)
Complete waste of time
Poorly acted, written and directed. No sexual chemistry between the characters. No attempt at any racial inclusion. Boring and awful in every level.
